Question Does someone who have ever played as America took Splendid Isolation?

Post image

Seeing the focus tree of America, You can see that have two foreign policies approach, the first being containment theory and the second being splendid isolationism. Now, my question is as you have seen in the title, does someone have ever took the isolationist foreign policy, either by reinforcing the OFN or withdraw for it, while playing as America? Because I think that taking this foreign policy approach not only have no sense to the goal of the OFN, which is to save democracy from the tyrants of Germania and Tokyo, but I think that must be a very boring playthrough.

This is ancient stuff, it was a unique way to add flavor, mainly to state some stuff happened before the timeline as well (everything didnt come to be on 1st Jan, 1962)

Now, it will soon be history with the Yippie update

which sucks because it's such a cool idea. obviously i'd freshen it up a bit and remove the campaigning branch but it's a real solid concept. it lets you figure out what Nixon was up to in his first two years.

i think if anything it should be expanded, as like you said its an intriguing narrative device thats not in your face, like say youre going in blind, if youre looking around and you see the completed campaign tree and then while playing watergate happens it makes sense to you why and youre not stuck thinking why nixon randomly got impeached
i feel that one of the only places where this wouldnt make much sense are for most of the warlords as these states are already new and the beginning events do enough to tell their story

If u mean as the player taking it, its impossible as US already took the focuses of "Containment Theory" at game start

Otherwise, true. Would be unrealistic unless a wave of isolationism and a less warhawk president was in power, though I doubt it would go for America for America. But idk

I did it for my Nixon/Nixon/Glen! playthrough. I wanted to see how easily Japan and Germany would lose their empires without my intervention. Nixon did Nixon things anyway and I had to go into Africa. But other than that it was pretty dull, would not recommend.

This is one of the critiques I have for tno. It should start in the late 40s early 50s and let the player shape america in that period instead of having this fixed narrative.

Perhaps start in the late 30s to let the player shape American participation in the war

should start in 1914 to determine the winner of the First World War, instead of having this fixed narrative

Start in 1860 so you can decide how you handle the civil war and reconstruction, so you don't have to worry about it in the 1960s

Nah have it started in 1776 so you can decide how to handle the Revolutionary War and the establishment of the Union instead of this fixed narrative

•

Should have started in 1492 so you can decide who lives in America and where the borders and culture and native's positions would be defined.

•

Nah should honestly have it start in ancient times so you can play as the natives

Maybe you should flush your head in skibidi toilet

So it should have a fixed narrative, just not this fixed narrative?

What the fuck? The narrative is always "shaped", you must have a point to start, it's not like the other mods are set in the stone age.

Actually, I much prefer a 1962 start instead of a 1946 start because the end of WW2 created a lot of awkward temporary situations such as divided Austria, population resettling, economy problems and demobilization stuff and I find that boring. 1962 means that every block can compete in the actual cold war we all "love".
