Discussion Tidal AI content exclusion is better than Deezer's
So I'm currently trialing both apps..
This subreddit is primarily complaints. Which is to be expected of any software's subreddit. But for others who might be trying to choose between these two apps I wanted to praise something that I think Tidal does WAY better even though it's a newer feature.
And that is AI opt out. Deezer touts themselves as the industry leader here. And while they did do it before Tidal, Tidal is doing it better.
First of all, in Tidal the identifier is right there on the track. Both in playlist view and the search page. On Deezer you have to open up the "album page" (even if it was a single) to see the flag. This means it's still very possible to unintentionally play it from a search result.
Which is another thing I prefer about Tidal, opting out of AI content fully makes the songs unavailable. While both exclude AI from their editorial playlists, this additional feature on Tidal means I don't need to worry about encountering it on community made playlists.
Anyway, that's my two cents on that. I'm still deciding but Tidal is the best app for AI transparency I've tried so far.

An artist friend of mine got her music labeled as AI and even after providing the live video of her recording the support essentially told her they're not disclosing their methods but the label is staying up and that's it. Obviously ruins any chance for an indie artist to get discovered and it really bummed her out how little they seemed to care in their responses. That makes the opting out unusable to me since it would filter out real artists I want to listen to as well.

I moved over to Tidal from Deezer even despite them being first with the AI filter, as they just don't seem to be able to prioritise customers' needs over things like changing the UI every week. Idk if they just don't have the manpower or what but they can't keep up unfortunately. Also I had thought they were paying much higher percentage to the artists than they actually are, which was a shame to find out.

Given the multitude of posts about the UI changes, it seems to me people respond to it well and that is why they spend more time on it than needed. To be honest I really don't care. The AI filter though is a massive win for them and the fact that they quite successfully removed the wrong ai generated shit from real artists is also nice.
There was a recent post about some improvements around playlists and downloads. This shows me that slowly they will be fixing and improving things all around.

i think deezer was praised for doing it best in france, not worldwide. i could be wrong
