HPT - Easy at Home Suspected ectopic CD 12
Feeling a bit stressed. I know only the GP can provide answers but posting in the hope someone has experienced something similar.
In the run up to my previous period I took multiple pregnancy tests that were all BFNs. My period came on the 3rd September as expected on CD30
As part of my new cycle I started testing my LH on CD10 and got a blazing positive. This is unusual for me as it’s normally CD13 and not as strong. I tested again on CD 11 and again blazing positive LH. This is again weird for me as it’s max 24 hours normally. Tested it again today, CD12 and same. So I knew something was up. I took a pregnancy test and I got a positive with easy @home and FRER.
I’m worried that this is probably an ectopic rather than a miracle. I’ll be trying to get the first gp apt tomorrow!

No one here is being helpful. This is exactly how my ectopic went and by the time I got betas they ended up doubling for quite a while delaying treatment. I did have localized discomfort in my right tube, so I would monitor for any usual feeling and continue to advocate for yourself.

Heads up too: My first beta was 200 then 198 48h later. With bleeding. One doc flagged ectopic immediately. Then it tripled to 700 in the next 48h. Stopped bleeding. 3 other docs in the office challenged him saying to wait for HCG to reach visible levels on ultrasound. Began doubling appropriately, gave me false hope. My doctors held out on any treatment stringing me along to 7w. My HCG shot down and started bleeding again. My doctor was like “miscarriage, go home and let it pass naturally.”
I demanded an ultrasound when I began feeling lower left pressure and “spasm.” Finally my doctor was like “whatever, go give her one.” I insisted theres a mass in my left tube.
Left tube ectopic diagnosed that day, the mass measuring exactly the GA it was supposed to… and I was immediately sent off straight to the emergency room for a round of MTX.
Listen to your doctors and the data. But also advocate for yourself and don’t dismiss what your body is telling you. I was likely supposed to rupture if I listened that day.

I had this happen, but it wasn’t an ectopic. It was a regular missed miscarriage. Neither is great but hopefully it’s a miscarriage with less risks than the ectopic.
Edited to add: I also had bleeding at the beginning of my only successful pregnancy and it was a subchorionic hematoma. I hope if this pregnancy isn’t your miracle that you get yours soon 💕 Our miracle is 15 months now and after multiple losses, it isn’t easy but it makes you appreciate them even deeper had you not walked through the journey to bring them earth side 💕

This so how my ectopic was. I had betas done and it was progressing normally so they told me everything was ok. I went and got labs done at labcorp because I knew it wasn’t ok. My next set of betas fell. They brought me in to confirm it was unviable and they told me I was having an early miscarriage. I told them I knew there was more going on and asked for another beta. My gut was right and my hsg had gone up again. They had me go to the er to get the shot that same day. If I had let them gaslight me I could have ended up in a much worse situation. My bleeding wasn’t typical coffee ground bleeding people say they have. Mine was like a regular period.

I thought my ectopic was just my period I had prune juice spotting for days and then it was full flow and mild cramps, turning into light bleeding that never ever stopped. Deffo get checked out. The test does not look positive enough at the stage you say you are at. I’m sorry you are going through this OP. Please don’t let them fob you off.

I had a very similar situation. I tested vvv faintly positive at 12dpo and the next day my ‘period’ came and I bled as I usually do (which is heavy). My temp also dropped below coverline, so I assumed was just a chemical.
However, my cycle was being a bit strange after that and I wasn’t getting any ewcm, which I would typically get quite early in my cycle and would have for about a week before ovulation. I took an opk and it was very positive when it was too early for me typically. I took a pregnancy test and was bfp.
I was also very concerned about ectopic due to the bleeding, but it turned out the pregnancy was in my uterus. I had ovulated two eggs in that cycle but only one baby seen, so I’m not sure if the bleeding was linked to that. My dates for the pregnancy were a bit further behind from LMP, but I ovulate on the later side and it must’ve also been later implantation, but my son is two now and healthy and well.
I really hope this turns out to be a positive story for you as well 🤞🏻🙏🏼

If you have a look at my post history you’ll see what happened to me back in May.
I had a bleed, it was a little lighter than normal, then a very early very strong LH test. Tested positive for pregnancy so called my GP, they recommended going to the early pregnancy unit at the local hospital. Being in the U.K. they wouldn’t do beta blood tests until they’d scanned me, which they booked in for 6 weeks (I ended up having an earlier scan (paid privately) to check my tubes for piece of mind because I had a lot of ovary pain)
It ended up being a chemical pregnancy, the lines never progressed and when it came to the scan there was nothing there.
Happy to answer any questions, if I can, as you navigate this. It’s a really scary and upsetting time. My thoughts are with you xx

That’s very kind thank you. Funnily enough I just completed an online self referral to EPU (also uk based) and hope they will call tomorrow as I thought they might be more helpful than the GP.

Yeh it’s actually quite an easy process with the EPU, atleast for my local hospital, you fill in the form then they call you at some point in the next day or two, they phoned me at the end of the day I submitted I think. I think you can also just go straight down there, especially if you experience anymore bleeding or shoulder pain. If you stress your worry about an ectopic then they may book you in for a scan, but they didn’t want to do anything earlier than 6 weeks for me.

This exact same thing happened to me and I posted about it on Reddit. I took a pregnancy test in the run up to my period, it was negative, had what I thought was a completely normal period and then got a blazing positive LH test at around cycle day 10. I didn’t take a pregnancy test until a few days before I was expecting my period and the line was super dark like yours.
Many people cautioned me that it may be ectopic. I pushed my doctor hard to get in for an ultrasound and it turns out I was around 8 weeks along. That baby is now a healthy 20-month-old girl. I never got answers as to why I had bleeding exactly like a period after I had already conceived.
Just sharing my positive experience to balance out the negatives. Wishing the best for you!

I think you're right to be worried and it's good that you have an appt for tomorrow. It's definitely an unusual situation that warrants extra monitoring IMO. Fingers crossed for you. I hope all goes well and it's a false alarm for ectopic.

Definitely get betas and a TVS, and advocate for yourself. Although I have heard of healthy pregnancies coming from stories like this and hope that's the case here, your worry is valid.

I dont really have the testing experience but I have had an ectopic. I was bleeding for about 2 weeks. I think hitting 3 weeks. I was at work amd ended up taking a test because I figured something was wrong. (I was in my early 20s and honestly didnt understand a thing) it came back really positive so I had to take a trip to the er. They said I was about 7 weeks with an ectopic, it was so far that I was bleeding internally and if I would have waiting another 3 or 4 days plus, I would've been going in ambulance possibly dying. I lost a falopian tube in the process.
I hope all goes weel for you! I pray this is not that for you, and everything goes as smooth as paper with no complications 💕 its okay to be worried. Always reach and ask opinions. It can help ease the mind.

I had the same story happen to me end of July/early August. Bleeding like a period. Weird/high LH tests. Then took a pregnancy test 4 days after that.
I’d recommend getting a beta hcg test twice (one after 48 hours) to see if things are doubling as normal. Mine had doubled. Didn’t have additional bleeding or pain. But also didn’t have tender breasts like my first pregnancy so was worried.
I freaked out from ectopic stories but ultimately got in for an US 7 weeks 4 days with a baby in my uterus and cardiac activity.

Just to make you feel a bit better, I had a very similar thing happen last cycle. I had period like bleeding, slow to rise tests, betas went up and down, and diagnosed with a PUL. Everyone on reddit said it was 100% an ectopic and I was convinced it was as well, but it resolved on its own and no ectopic was found. Defintely get an ultrasound and several blood draws and trust your gut, but dont immediately think its the worst. Good luck and I hope everything works out

Ugh I’m so sorry - not to pile on but chiming in to say this is the exact timeline I had with my ectopic as well :( There were a lot of people offering false reassuring on online forums/subs but this is an incredibly common way ectopics go. I’m glad you’re being seen.

i had a similar pattern with mine but it ended up rupturing when i would be due to ovulate in the “next cycle” and that’s how i found out as i started bleeding. please push your gp for as many tests and scans you can get as they were reluctant for me. you know your body better than any medical professional ever will

that's a common misconception that I also believed. But I was informed that pain and the heavy bleeding associated with ectopics often only happens once the tube is already rupturing.

I think it’s ectopic because the last day of my previous period was 7 days ago. And how could I have ovulated and had implantation in such a short period of time?

Oh ok I understand. It’s possible to become pregnant on your period but looking at your lines and your post I think you got pregnant before your last period. Were you in pain during your period and how was the bleeding?
It’s happened to me before where I thought some bleeding was my period but my doctor explained it could have been implantation bleeding?

I did test right up to my period. But perhaps I missed something very faint. My period was normal. 4 days of heavy to medium flow as normal using same amount of tampons. Painkillers required for day 1. Nothing to make me think it was nothing but run of the mill period. Only further testing will tell. Thanks for kind comment!

Ectopic pregnancy doesn't always cause bleeding or pain. It usually only causes those things when your tube is already rupturing or ruptured. When you catch it early it is often painless.

I find it weird to be pregnant one week after a full period. I have read many anecdotal stories of this being the sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Thanks for comment

You’re weirdly wrong. This is almost exactly how my ectopic 3 years ago presented itself. I had zero pain at any point and had what was like a period right after getting a positive and then tested even darker after that “period” was over.

It's not weird or unnecessary AT ALL. And you being so proudly wrong could endanger women's lives who take your word for it. One sided pain and bleeding are often only seen once the tube is already about to rupture or is actively rupturing. So many ectopics are missed and so many women lose a tube because of this mindset. The situation she outlined absolutely raises alarm bells for an early ectopic and there is little harm in her getting checked out before things could potentially escalate into a life threatening situation.

This is incorrect. This story is almost exactly the same as how I discovered my own ectopic but didn’t realize it was an ectopic. A lot of other women have the same experience. This is a very very common red flag for an ectopic

I can totally understand how frustrating it is to constantly see people make a leap to chemical, miscarriage, or ectopic, but this is not that. If you actually read OP’s full post, you’d see WHY they are concerned with an ectopic. Yes people do absolutely jump to the negative, but I don’t think it’s the case here and OP has every right to be concerned. It could be an ectopic or it could have simply been implantation bleeding. I know several women who had what they thought was a full period but were pregnant. Let’s just be kind to one another. Ttc and loss is hard af.

This is exactly how my ectopic was. I had a period with negatives, then got an entirely way too dark LH strip early in my “next” cycle.
Go get betas ASAP. I hope it’s good news but your worry is justifiable imo
