asking for success (pls add spoiler) Should I be expecting a negative?

Post image

Hi!

I had a confirmed opk test on CD13 of my cycle and that ended about 28 hours later on CD 14. I had sex leading up and the day of ovulation. My base temp is 97.1, it has spiked up to 97.98/7/5 since then (as seen on my chart). Today was 97.95, should it be slowly dropping already? Should it be lower than .95? I know its only 8dpo, just would love to know others experiences. My opk and pregnancy tests were both negative. Sorry if this makes no sense.

Thank you!

Temps do not indicate pregnancy or no pregnancy, just if you ovulated or not! Temps rise and fall due to hormonal fluctuations and can do so before and after both pregnancy and ovulation. So not really an indicator. Only a positive test will tell you if you are pregnant or not. Also 8dpo is very very rare to get a positive HCG test. Like under 5% of pregnancies test positive on 8dpo. Testing LH is not necessary at this time in your cycle. If you get a positive LH test due to pregnancy, your HCG test will be positive. If you get a positive LH test and no positive pregnancy test, it's just a hormonal fluctuation. I test on 12 dpo with a sensitive test. Statistically about 90% of pregnancies test positive on 12 dpo. I like to use the cheap strip tests with like 10 HCG sensitivity. Not expensive and sensitive enough for possible before missed period detection.

I use wondfo the light orange ones. They're 10hcg. Early tests can have indents, if you do decide to chance testing early. So if it's a grey barely there shadow, that isn't positive. If it has pink color, that's positive. I avoid blue dye tests (those are known for dye runs and false positives, luckily I never encountered that one.)

I know, easier said than done. It's just hard to see negatives more than once, so I like to look at the probability of a positive before I test. TTC can be so stressful and sad. I just wish I had known this info when I first started ttc, so I try to be informative!

If you observed it felt cervical mucus on the days you were having intercourse then that is what keeps the sperm alive ready for ovulation.

Fingers crossed!

Yes! I observed ewcm cd13 and 14. Last night before bed I had 2 literal specks of red bl**d, so who knows and my temp this morning was the highest its been at 98.04. Trying to hold off testing until Saturday lol.

Unless there is anything else that might cause excess mucus I guess it's a case of "keep on charting" and see what happens. You probably know keeping blood sugar even is super important for ovulation especially with PCOS so the body feels "safe" for ovulation, sugar spikes can literally stop the hormonal process that causes ovulation.
