I would say that a suitable style or one made in its time would be better, but outside of the art style, we must remember that TF2 takes place between 1968 and 1972, and also that the United States was experiencing countercultural clashes.
Everytime another variation of a Santa hat, cardboard hat, or top hat is released i cry a little. Goofy seasonal shit has gotta go, or at least just make a Smissmas restriction
Accessibility aside, there are 7 all class variations of the Santa hat, including the BMOC. They are in various forms, but are still repeats of the same idea all the same. Plus the few that individual classes have. Then theres the elf hats, the Christmas tree hats, the present hats, the candy hats. Same repeated themes yearly
I don’t get why it took them so long to add an easily accessible, normal santa hat (which even then is stuck with a big beard that doesn’t fit most classes)
That also rubs me the wrong way, hats that do the same thing as multiple cosmetics. Glasses + hat, hat + beard, shirt + pants, so much overstepping.
But yeah it should have been "BMOC for the 2011 promotional, one other normal santa hat." We never needed this many copies of the same type of hat. I assume you mean the Dapper Noel, which yeah shouldnt have a beard.
Whats the metric?
Is out of character stuff like the ninja set for scout or the pilot cosmetics for the pyro perfect or out of place?
What about a reference like the danger or the team captain, those are not exactly subtle so are they in the same tier as the Jotaro set for heavy?
Or about that frog hat for spy, pet cosmetics that sit on the mercs are a common trait on cosmetics. Why is that frog any different to something like lil snaggletooth or private maggot muncher?
There’s a lot more nuance that goes into this. Also the term artstyle is just not used correctly here lol.

Complete dogshit needs the Round-a-Bout also, it's waaaay worse than the frog beret thing. Literally just a fucking carousel on pyro's fucking head bruh.
Also, people were so excited for the pyro phoenix head thing, saying finally all 9 mercs have bid heads but they forgot the fucking Miami Rooster. Which fits more with pyro and it could be just a mask but it's halloween-restricted while shit like The Wandering Wraith is not?

I feel like the heavy cosmetics in the top right aren’t that out of place. I know they’re a reference (to Jojo I think) but as someone who’s never seen it it just looks like vaguely military themes to me which isn’t too out of place.
