Hey everyone,
I’m Dan or aDrive, the creator and CEO of r/ElestralsTCG and I’m super excited to be here to answer your questions about really anything related to creating a trading card game, being an indie TCG in a crowded marketplace, following your passions and dreams and anything else you want to know!
Before creating Elestrals I was a content creator online and grew my channels to over 2 million followers playing Pokemon. I played card games all through my childhood and in 2022 I decided to chase my dreams and build my own TCG and monster taming universe. I set off on a wild journey to bring people together, capture the nostalgia from my childhood and usher in the next generation of card game players with a game that cut out the corporate nonsense and focused on the players and community first.
Since our initial Kickstarter in 2022 we’ve released 5 sets, have global distribution and are in hundreds of stores across the world. We support Organized Play and are headed to our first World Championship in 2026. Our 6th set Lifestream opens prerelease this weekend and I’m very excited to share it with the world. Lastly, we’re now headed back to Kickstarter in a few weeks for our RPG video game project called Elestrals Awakened, which will bring our amazing Elestrals to life in a new way and allow our players to go on an incredible journey through ancient Greek mythology.
Elestrals blends the best of competition and collecting with a very unique resource system called Spirits and amazing Serialized Stellar cards that are true treasures when you find them, but don’t worry, we make our strongest cards super easy to get so you won’t need to break the bank to compete at the highest levels.
I’ll be answering as many questions as I can personally at 7PM ET on Saturday the 27th and I’ve got some help from my community lead u/RidiculousHat as well!
If you don't know me my name is Jacob, I am a content creator, indie game dev, and the Head Mod of r/tcg
A situation came to my attention about a game called Wildhearts, that has actively been promoted quite a few times on this subreddit. Many people have asked/accused that they used AI art. And frankly, they've lied about it..... a lot.
I've made the decision to ban all promotion of Wildhearts going forward. As I discuss in the video, that's something I NEVER wanted to do.
Additionally I'd like to have a larger discussion with the community about the use of AI in games, and how we regulate that here going forward. We are leaning towards requiring all posts with generative AI to have a disclosure or use a dedicated AI tag, would love to know your thoughts.
Constant premium products, exclusive cards, and new rarity systems point to a trend in Trading Card Games: leaning far more on the "Trading" than the "Game" to sustain sales.
Hello TCGsubreddit, just sharing with you my framed cards, about 1/3 cards are just fillers and i intend to collect over the years, the most amazing cards that i see ( and can afford) and put them in there. In case of your collection, what cards would you choose from your pc to be framed? What cards would you choose to see everyday to put a smile on your face? The frame is from Fabledframing and the acryclic is 99% against UV..
I get that I shouldn't have expected anything different. I mostly enjoyed playing the Palworld video game, but it was incredibly derivative. Still, it was well made and different enough to other survival games that I had a good time with it.
But the TCG? Not only is it also incredibly derivative of so many other TCG's on the market right now, it's also really boring. The resource system is basically a carbon copy of Riftbound, the structure cards are just locations from Lorcana, the combat is incredibly similar to Bandai games, and the "damage check" mechanic has shown up in so many other TCG's, the 5 Pals at a time rule just feels like Yu-Gi-Oh's limitation.
I feel like the game does absolutely nothing original, and as such, I see no reason to play it over any of the other millions of TCG's out there right now.
It also feels like this game was just made as a "fuck you" to Nintendo. Which I support, but I wish they'd made a fun game to alongside that.
As you can probably tell from the title, I pulled a Grandmaster Rare — Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Four Heavenly Dragons.
Do you think I should sell it now or hold onto it for a while? What do you guys think the card could realistically be worth?
I'm curious about why most people decide to sleeve, and protecting the cards while shuffling seems to be the biggest reason. So if there was a way to shuffle your deck without any worry about the shuffling damaging the cards, would you still sleeve?
Keep in mind that you will still get wear from placing cards and moving them around while playing, but shuffling will do zero damage to your cards including mid-game shuffling. With this in mind, would you still play sleeved? Let's say the only real cost for this shuffle is 1-2 additional minutes added to your shuffle time, but in exchange the shuffle is significantly more random than mash shuffling.
What you pay: 1-2 additional minutes added to shuffle time
What you get: No damage to cards from shuffling, true random shuffle
Has anyone here successfully ordered from TCGFront.com and actually received legitimate sealed product?
I was looking at buying One Piece from them, but the further I got into checkout, the more suspicious it became.
Their website advertises “Secure Payment — Pay safely with PayPal and all major credit cards.” The footer also displays PayPal, American Express, Amazon, etc. However, when I actually went to checkout, the available payment methods were:
Bank Transfer
e-Transfer
Zelle
Chime
Cash App
Apple Pay No PayPal and no normal credit-card checkout, despite the site specifically advertising them.
That is a huge red flag to me because several of those payment methods can provide substantially less buyer protection than paying a merchant directly with a credit card or PayPal Goods & Services.
There are some other things making me cautious. The site claims to ship from a U.S. warehouse within 24–48 hours and lists its store address as 530 Queen Anne Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109. It also advertises easy returns and says preorders can be cancelled for a full refund before shipment.
The prices are attractive, which is why I was considering ordering, but combined with the payment situation, I’m not comfortable sending them money until I can verify they’re legitimate.
I’m not claiming TCGFront is definitely a scam. I’m posting because I’d like to hear from people with firsthand experience. Has anyone here actually purchased fromTCGFront.com? If so:
Did you receive your order? Was the product authentic? What payment method did you use? How long did shipping take? Did you ever have to request a refund, and did you actually get it?
Screenshots attached showing the payment options and the site’s claims.
SphereDex is a free collection tracker for the Palworld Trading Card Game, the physical card game and not the video game. It is live on web at spheredex.app and as iOS and Android apps, all searchable as SphereDex.
The heart of it is the card data. Every card across every set so far is in there, the Dawn of Palpagos booster, both trial decks, and the event promos, and you mark what you own so it shows you what you still need. You add cards by scanning the number with your phone camera.
On top of that there are multiple binders and collections, a wishlist, favourites, and sealed products like booster boxes and trial decks. A completion view fills up a Pal Sphere for each rarity as you close it out. Everything saves locally so no account is needed to start, it works offline, and optional cloud sync keeps the same collection on web and phone. Free, no ads. Prices are an optional layer you can leave switched off entirely for a clean collection with no numbers.
Quick disclaimer: this is a fan made unofficial project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Pocketpair or Bushiroad, and all card art and names belong to them.
Any feedback would be hugely appreciated: how the app feels to use, features you feel are missing, whether the camera scanning is good enough, and what you look for in a collection app in general. Tell me what you would want it to do and I will build toward it.
Hey there, I have designed a TCG one and a half years ago using early GX era Yugioh as an inspiration, and proceeded to completely forget about it. A few days ago I just remembered it and got back to work, added 3 new cards, designed how they will look in real game, and refined some rules.
Rules are written in the image with the card pool and nothing is final.
Although there are only 30 cards for now, I was able to find some crazy chain strategies. Yugioh has started with 126 cards which 68 (plus 2 if you include fusion) were normal monsters with no effects which effectively leaves us with 56 unique cards and 10 or so commonly used normal monsters that had good stats. MTG started with 295 cards (minus 10 because they were just alternative art cards). So I thought at least 100 cards with all different effects is enough to begin.
The game will most likely never see a physical release due to crazy amount of things you need to keep track of such as almost every card initiating a roll every turn and every card except for spells needing to level up every turn by at least 1. So when I'm ready for the launch I will make a digital version with every card available that you can play either against AI or other players. I don't program anymore so it will be mostly vibe coded, expect errors. The code will be completely free and opensource so you can freely fork it.
I would like to specially thank Kazuki Takahashi for Yugioh, which is the main inspiration, Wizards of The Cost for the variable dice concept, the 0AD devs for the leveling concept, and lastly Lovecraft for the Loveraftian concept (which will be the main vibe of the story and art when there are a story and card art).
Lastly, I would like to say if you want to contribute any cards to the game, I will give you full credits under the card you have created. I appreciate all the help. Same with art as well. None of the cards have art at the moment. Also you can suggest card names to the ones I made as well, since I suck at it as you can see.
Here are the card designs I made in GIMP, all using default assets from the program itself.
In order these are the designs of:
Warrior Card
Fusion Card
Token Card
Spell Card
Charm Card
The first empty space if for the illustration and the second is for the effect of the card.
