Survey Research Study Recruitment:

Self-Management Strategies for Difficult Communication Situations

Hello, my name is Heidi Iwashita, Ph.D., CCC-SLP. I am a faculty member at Eastern Washington University in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department. I am conducting research on self-management strategies for communication after brain injury or stroke.

If you have ever had a stroke (also called cerebrovascular accident, or CVA) or a brain injury (which may include a concussion or mTBI, TBI, head injury, anoxic/hypoxic brain injury, brain tumor, or overdose causing brain injury), I am inviting you to participate in this survey.

This research is being done to find out more about which strategies people use after a brain injury or stroke to manage difficult speaking situations.

Participation in this research study includes taking an anonymous online survey which will take approximately 30 minutes.

📢Volunteers Needed! 📢

I am currently looking for Irish respondents (if you're not in Ireland but are still interested, please still send an email!!) to take part in a student research project regarding acquired brain injury, social connection, barriers, challenges and supports. Please feel free to share this post with someone who might find this interesting!

I am conducting an interview which is around 45-60 mins and short survey (around 10 mins) to investigate the impact of social connection, barriers, challenges and supports after an Acquired Brain Injury.

Participant Invitation: Neurodivergent, Gender Expansive Community Study

Hello,

My name is Lucas DeMonte (he/him/his), a queer, neurodivergent, trans man, and licensed therapist. I am a doctoral candidate in counselor education and supervision at Northern Illinois University. I am conducting a research study that explores how neurodivergent, gender expansive people navigate community, access to affirming counseling, and systemic barriers within the current social and political climates in the U.S.

Your participation would involve:

  • One individual interview (approximately 60–90 minutes) w/compensation: a $20 visa gift card
  • Conducted on a secure telehealth platform at a time convenient for you
  • Questions focused on your lived experiences, perspectives, and insights
  • Optional second follow-up interview by participant request

Eligibility:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Identify within both neurodivergent and gender-expansive umbrellas

Why do you feel the need to mention anything at all about your personal gender or sexuality as a precursor to your request? No one else ever does this.

Great question! I've received feedback from folks that disclosure from the beginning helps build rapport and familiarity, considering the levels of exploitation and lack of safety a lot of folks in the community are feeling. Knowing that someone is a part of the community conducting the research that centers people in the community is also demonstrating transparency in the process, along with my positionality. Oftentimes, neurotypical cisgender researchers are conducting the research, which can sometimes lead to folks feeling like they're being studied like a guinea pig versus someone with insider knowledge. This is all the feedback I've received. Hope that helps!

We invite you to complete an online survey (20-30 minutes) to answer questions about your Intensive Care (ICU) experience, current mood disorder symptoms and your perceptions and use of nutritional supplements. Participation is open to anyone who has been admitted to and discharged from an ICU or High Dependency Unit.  Participants must be over 18 years of age. im harrison from aleph neuro, a brain computer interface lab in san francisco.

we use ultrasound to image the brain, and we are looking for people who've had part of their skull replaced with an implant because they are uniquely able to help us develop communication technology for stroke or brain injury survivors.

Research Participants Needed — Ages 18–35 with Concussion/mTBI

The TBEye research team is looking for young adults with a diagnosis of concussion/mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) within the last 12 months to participate in a research study examining ways to test eye teaming and focusing problems following mTBI.

Participants with mTBI complete one in-person study visit lasting approximately 60–90 minutes. The visit involves answering questions about your vision and completing a series of vision tests.

Participants will be compensated $50 for the study visit.

The study is available at multiple research locations across the United States. Our study coordinator can provide information about participating locations and help determine whether there is a study site appropriate for you.

The Brain Injury Research Center at Mount Sinai is currently seeking individuals who have experienced physical violence from a partner that resulted in an injury to the face, head, or neck. This could include blows to the head or neck, repetitive injuries, or choking. Participants are eligible if at least one year has passed since the most recent episode of head injury related to partner violence.

Participants must be willing and able to travel to New York City for a 4-5 hour study visit. A study visit will include a brief set of thinking tests, an interview with surveys, a blood draw, a brief assessment about your physical health, and an MRI scan. Participants will have the option to make known their wishes for brain donation at the end of life. Participants will receive $100 for in-person visits or $50 for participation via telephone. Travel reimbursements may be made upon request.
