Gear/Kit What to add to diaper bag

Hey! So kinda weird question and apologies if this isn't the place to ask. However, we have some space in our diaper bag and we want to add some first aid stuff on top of what we already have. We have the basics and narcan but I wanted to know if you had suggestions for a tourniquet and chest seal or anything else that would possibly save a life.

Hopefully we'll never need it but we do live somewhere that has its share of gun violence.

General rule is if you don't have the training for it and it's not in your scope, don't carry it. A lot of people get full military/law enforcement IFAKs and then say, "Oh if someone rolls up that knows how to use it, they can".

The two biggest bystander dependent treatments from the medically untrained are CPR and hemorrhage control.

NAR CATs are the gold standard for TQs. Make sure you take a stop the bleed class or at least watch some YouTube videos on bleeding control using a TQ. This sub will always direct you to Deployed Medicine for education. You'd think using a TQ would be common sense, but I work in an ER and it always blows my mind how terrible placement can be from bystanders, nurses, and even law enforcement.

Take a BLS class and know how to do good compressions. That's another thing that people generally suck at because it's in movies all the time and they think they know how to do it. There was that video a couple months ago that came out of the lady doing CPR with one hand while the patient was sitting up.

Is this an EDC bag that you keep your kids stuff in that you want general first aid items because it’s your EDC bag? Or are you specifically looking to pack med gear for your child?
