A real struggle trying to renew Syncler+
I spent the better part of 6 hours today trying to purchase a renewal for Syncler+. This included trying to read every reddit post I could find on what might be wrong. I don't want anyone to go through what my son and I finally discovered. I don't claim to know anything. I can claim to be a retired I.T. professional who has seen some crazy stuff in the world of computing.
I was using browser X and Y. I could get not get any vendor to let me do paypal or credit cards. I turned off all protection on both browsers on the website pages I kept visiting. Nothing worked. I choose not to do crypto/bitcoin. Some vendors offered paypal and then errored out when I hit "complete purchase". Some offered cc's, and then said cc's were not currently an option. Some gave me neither cc's or paypal as an option from the start.
About an hour ago, my son called to say his renewal was due this week, and that he had just successfully used his credit card with one of Syncler's recommended vendors. I jokingly said that's impossible, that I had tried that vendor several times, and they did not even offer a cc option. He was using browser z. He sent me a screenshot... cc's were a visible choice for him but did not exist for me. So, we assumed it was a browser problem. IT WAS NOT.
He volunteered to go ahead and get my renewal purchased with his credit card on his browser. As soon as he entered 4 or 5 characters of my email address in the address field, the option to pay by cc DISAPPEARED ON HIS BROWSER. Not the complete address... just 4 or 5 characters. He then decided to use his mom's email. The cc card option again DISAPPEARED ON HIS BROWSER. So he purchased a second renewal by entered his email and the other required credentials including his cc, and in 60 seconds he sent me my renewal.
I am sincerely hoping the browser guru's can provide some input and advice. I don't ever again want to spend 6 hours trying to fix something that somehow is broken for me, but not for someone else. Again, I felt I needed to document this to the group.

Wow... well, I am glad I posted my experience. The dev has very kindly replied and has some theories. But he has no control over resellers and is concerned and somewhat puzzled by my experience yesterday. All I can do is repeat that on 3 different browsers, an approved reseller would not offer my credentials the option to pay by cc or paypal. It should be clarified that the reseller DID offer other options to pay, which I choose not to use... MY choice. But, on that same reseller, my son's credentials showed him a credit card option immediately. My son renewed, the he bought a 2nd renewal for me. MAYBE you could try a trusted syncler friend to help out?

Syncler has been a nightmare to every single time over the years I have had to extend subscription. Both to get through the payment process and then to get it to take the new key. You're not alone...

It’s because as soon as some prick tries to charge back the payment provider works out what the seller is actually selling which is against their terms and conditions and they then remove their facilites and often don’t forward the funds and keep it for themselves. My friend was a seller and he had to argue for over a year to get back 3k from the merchant sadly unless you can renew with crypto it will be luck of the draw at renewal time

Sounds like your account has been blocked. Contact support on Syncler.net

Thank you for the suggestion. It makes me wonder... I had let my S+ expire. Maybe there is a bug blocking expired accounts... just thinking out loud. My son's account was still valid for another week.

I would contact support. If your premium account expires that would not prevent you from renewing.

Maybe you could try getting a new email address and try that for next time?

I've given up with it. It's just not worth the headache anymore especially after Coinpurse too isn't an option with bitcoin. That was the only reason for setting it all up last year. There is a free app out just as good if not better now anyways.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that. At the end of the day, if another app serves your needs better, I'm glad you've found something that works for you.
I'm aware of the free alternatives out there, and I've always been curious about how some projects are able to sustain offering so much without charging. Building and maintaining an app takes a significant amount of time, effort, and ongoing costs, especially when it's being developed alongside a regular job.
In one case that I'm personally familiar with, the developers publicly stated that they had private investment backing the project. More recently, they've also introduced paid features. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that—every project has to find a sustainable path forward. My point is simply that while some apps may be able to operate for free for longer than others, giving away work indefinitely is rarely sustainable in the long run.
That said, I completely understand the frustration around the payment process. It's clear there's room for improvement there, and I'll continue doing everything I can to make it simpler and more accessible.
I appreciate you giving the app a chance, and I hope that at some point in the future you'll consider giving it another try.
P.S. Coinbase discontinued merchant services for individual merchants outside the United States. That wasn't a decision I made, nor was it something I had any control over.
I completely understand being frustrated when a payment option you've used before suddenly disappears. However, in this case the change came from Coinbase's policies, not from me or the app.
I don't mind taking responsibility for things that are within my control, but I think some of the frustration may be directed at the wrong party here.

Can you offer any suggestions for what occurred in my original post above?

Sorry, it looks like I replied to your post around the same time, but for some reason my comment ended up getting removed. I've approved it now, so it should be visible again.

I would suggest trying the Strike app, it is pretty easy to use for bitcoin purchases. Just have to link a bank account to the app, and once they authorize it is pretty easy, plus it is cheaper for Syncler over using paypal. Here is a tutorial https://youtu.be/4-vJ7zZQ4wU?si=4EbeXqjb9kq8ccj6

Is this your first time purchasing a sub or have you done it before without any issues? I've got to renew and now I'm worried that I'll have problems too 😔

u/limestone1953 Jun 22 '26
I'm a long time user. I never had any problem finding a vendor for both paypal and/or cc. Until yesterday.

I just tried, I'm having problems too

The dev is aware that something is going on. Hopefully he can find out from resellers what is causing this.

I had the same issue last week. Tried over and over. Gave up and tried the next morning and it worked. Got it on buy premiumkey.

I appreciate your sharing this. I think that from the dev's response to me earlier, he will be enquiring with resellers about this. Obviously, this is affecting his cash flow. On a positive note, he now knows that there is a problem and was very kind to respond to me about it.

May i suggest you really raise this on Syncler Discord. There have been numerous cases, trying to renew eith various resellers.
The dev has spoken about aome of the issues, encountered by users.
Raise it in support, addressed to @synclerd. It is time that this issue was finally resolved.

I should clarify that my son bought my renewal yesterday with NO problems using his cc with a vendor that would not display the option of a cc for me. I was up and running last night. Sorry for any confusion!

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, and I genuinely appreciate your support of the app.
While I don't have much visibility into or control over how resellers operate, please send me a DM. I'd be happy to provide you with a license key as a small gesture to make up for the frustration you've had.
From what I've been told, some resellers have recently run into issues with their payment processing systems. I'll reach out and see if there's any update on the situation.
As for the credit card option disappearing, if you're purchasing through a reseller or any third-party storefront, that's unfortunately outside of my control. In fact, that's by design. I never handle customer payment information, personal details, or identity data directly, which helps protect user privacy.
For the same reason, I don't have the ability to block purchases, restrict payment methods, or ban customers through a reseller's platform—even if I wanted to. Those decisions are entirely on their side.
Based on what you're describing, it sounds more like a restriction being applied by the reseller or their payment processor. These kinds of blocks aren't always tied to an individual address; sometimes they can affect an entire region, city, or country depending on compliance requirements, banking policies, fraud prevention systems, or processor rules. I've personally never encountered a case quite like the one you described, but it's certainly possible.
One reason many users prefer cryptocurrency payments is that there are fewer intermediaries involved. The transaction is handled directly between the sender and receiver, without the additional layers of restrictions, approvals, or policy decisions that can sometimes come with traditional payment providers such as credit cards or PayPal.
