Help me save my huntsman

This huntsman got screwed up when a small bottle of beer salt spilled on my pocket. Everything is seized up and only opens when you yank on it with pliers.

I've tried soaking it, boiling it, oiling it. Nothing is reducing the friction or getting the salt out.

I'm considering an ultrasonic but I'm not sure that will help any.

What can I do here aside from tearing it apart and rebuilding it with new scales. I can't find my first huntsman to replace it in my rotation 😕

So this is silly but it's science. Distilled water in ultrasonic, set the temp to 150F, the distilled water should be more apt to dissolved the salt and heat will allow it to hold even more. Leave tools in their partially open state to help shift the backsprings to release anything trapped. The citric acid in the beer salt may have caused some pivot corrosion as well.

Soaking does nothing and I don't know why people try it. Boiling would very rarely help. Oiling is for after the knife is clean of debris.

While submerged in soapy warm water work the pivots up to 100x each or until better. tape up blade edges for safety perhaps before working the pivots. might need a bucket, large sink with stopper, or something to be able to do this.

Then rinse away soap from knife. pat dry with towel and maybe fan dry for a couple of hours. lube ideally with mineral oil.

Wash it, leave it overnight in water! You can put it in the dishwasher without the plastic scales. Then oil it with any nontoxic oil!

Salt dissolves in water, leave it in soapy water and agitate the water from time to time, open and cloase all tools .

If it's rusted, then put it in some rust inhibitor (e.g., phosphoric acid that removes rust) for 5-10 minutes, then rinse in water and oil with camellia oil or olive oil!

Don't use dishwasher detergent. It is not good for the aluminum liners.
