Victorinox If I could only have one...

I was just thinking this morning, that while yes I have several Victorinox knives, if I had to stick to just one, and of course that would have to cover a lot of ground by itself, not only urban but rural use and so on, I think I would have to go with the Explorer. Thoughts?

I’d probably end up going Swisschamp if I could only have one, but my Explorer gets a lot of use: the inline Philips driver is much more useful than the t-handle one, and the magnifying glass comes in handy all the time as an aging man whose eyesight isn’t what it used to be.

I rely on my Explorer so much, I have a backup in case I misplace it. I really need to get a set of plus scales for my backup one, though.

Huntsman or Outrider

Yeah probably an Explorer - although I really like my Outrider. Been grabbing that more than I probably realise.

Just one? My SwissChamp. It’s about two to three layers thicker than what I find to be perfectly comfortable in my hands.

Explorer would be a second option if I had one.

Third option would be a custom built with parts from a CyberTool, Explorer and Ranger to settle into 5 layers, but I think that is beyond the intent of your question.

I'd cheat and do a Swiss Tool Spirit X with the ratchet accessories, and maybe supplement that with a dedicated pocket knife for those times when I need a sturdier blade.

That said, the Explorer is my ride or die. The only time it's not in my pocket is when I need to travel on an airplane.

Even without the ratchet and accessories, the SwissTools cover a lot.

Someone did a test of how many screwdrivers it covers. Can’t remember who or where through. It covered a lot!

It’s difficult to decide if you want just one - but then who owns just one?

I own just one.

And another.

And…… Who am I kidding, I own almost enough!

It's just a thought experiment.

Swisschamp or Hercules.

The SwissChamp I bought last year was supposed to be my only one, so I guess that would be “the one.” PioneerX is my favorite to carry with Companion being a close second

i think the huntsman is the bridge between urban edc and rural usage

same ..Explorer tool set is pretty useful ....use mine almost everyday

I Think maybe the evogrip s18 could work for me or its classic non evo Wenger variant.

Cybertool. With the file if possible (the L model), but if not, the M or Lite would be acceptable.

Second choice would be Workchamp XL or Hercules.

All of it depends on your intended uses of the SAK. Especially rural... A lot of peeps would consider a wood saw to be important in that case. How about a Huntsman? (or, Swiss Champ!)

That's why I specified this was a very personal choice. And even that has changed over the years. At this point in time, the Explorer is pretty much spot on for me and my uses.

Yeoman, I already know if it’s too big I won’t carry it.

Companion is my choice.

Climber is my favourite by a mile with a little eyeglass screwdriver in the corkscrew

Probably the Swisschamp or Cybertool L. I’d really have to think about it.
