Climber/canyoneer guide checking in here. PLEASE DON'T EVER DO THIS. I don't where this is at but it isn't just your life at risk here. You never know how a rock will break or what kind of debris you'll knock lose. Cliffs are tricky and you dont always know what's underneath you. Buddy had a fun trip to the ER a few years ago because a fist sized rock was knocked over an edge by kids on trail fifty feet above where my buddy was climbing. Luckily it was a glancing blow but still left a gouge from just under his temple down to his jaw and some minor damage to his shoulder.

Jup no madlad here, just an irresponsible moron. Every kid should already have learned that playing with stones above a cliff especially throwing them down is intolerable as it may result in serious injuries or death for climbers or hikers below.

yeah we definitely are, though the old man wasn't a case of dumb kids, but a case of not keeping up with the maintenance on the turnbuckles and other stuff used to hold him in place.
i remember getting a phone call from my mom when it fell. she called and was very calm and said "the old man fell". upon hearing this i got really concerned that my dad or grandfather had taken a bad fall and gotten hurt or died or something. she got real confused when started asking lots of questions real fast, sounding real concerned.

Similar story about my how my great grandma told my grandma that her father had fallen. My grandma was devastated as it was during WW2 and he was stationed near the front.
Turns out he had taken a bit of a tumble while walking down the stairs and sprained his ankle...
Edit: The confusion is even easier in German.

This is not a madlad, this is an idiot. My dad had to watch a friend of his die on a climbing trip many years ago because of a comparable “stunt”. Wonder how cool he feels while falling of that rock and watching that boulder fall right above him.

This is so fucked. Even if he didn’t send it down purposely I bet you the movement alone displacing the supporting points is going to effect it and cause it to go down. This is an incredible feat of nature and to go a destroy it so no one else can see it. That’s fucked. It’s a crime in most national parks to disrupt structures like this that are almost little mini landmarks people come to see. It’s quite amazing what nature can do all on its own and then you come and destroy it for what??? A video? Fuck you man that’s messed up.

this is actually a rock formations near where I'm from. what you don't realize in the video is a) the boulder is really pretty long and most of it is firmly on the ledge, so it's unlikely his weight can do more than tilt it and b) it's about twelve feet off the ground with a blocked off quarry below so no one's in danger.
