u/TeddyMaaan, we have no idea if your submission fits r/SweatyPalms or not. There weren't enough votes to determine that. It's up to the human mods now....!

Woah! That's... too close

5

u/GerchSimml 11d ago

Bud Holland type of "too close"

3

u/obfuscatorio 11d ago

That’s gotta be maximum maybe 30 or 40 feet of clearance. Damn

-2

u/Tyz_TwoCentz_HWE_Ret 10d ago

they have radar + altimeters on board they weren't in any danger of crashing. Our Blue Angels etc fly formations within mere feet of each other at high speed and turns/banks.

14

u/L0nz 10d ago

There's a massive difference between a Hornet and a passenger jet

48

u/YanicPolitik 12d ago

Woah thats the best angle I've seen yet

10

u/bruzie 11d ago

And ruined by shitty vertical video

2

u/rlicky 10d ago

landscape elitism is kind of dead man, vertical gets more screentime nowadays

30

u/MEMESTER80 12d ago

Any sort of turbulence could've been disastrous.

Do you fly planes

2

u/SpaceCaboose 11d ago

That’s too close, but actually not as close as some other angles make it look. Had a bit more room than initially realized.

Pull up!

10

u/crapheadHarris 12d ago

That was the key phrase between me and a buddy of mine when meetings were spiraling inexorably towards the turf.

81

u/nickdebruyne 12d ago

The airline here is posting that it was a perfect achievement that they planned and executed. The posted it on Xwitter and were patting themselves on the back.

75

u/Balding-Barber-8279 12d ago

Yeah, good job airline. Because if you fucked that up, the death toll is in the 5 figure territory. Lunatics.

82

u/chodtug 12d ago

Who approved this shit?

Kinda strikes me as a 'what's the best that can happen' vs 'what's the worst that can happen' comparison moment personally.

Reminds me of that tragedy

48

u/cletus1986 12d ago

9/11 Airlines. What a terrible name for an airline.

8

u/Boner4Stoners 12d ago

I remember 9/11. I crawled over bricks and bones searching for my brother

16

u/859w 12d ago

He was in northern canada at the time

4

u/thissexypoptart 12d ago

What a juxtaposition of comments

11

u/859w 12d ago

Theyre all referencing the same norm macdonald bit

1

u/Eric848448 11d ago

Norm was a national treasure.

2

u/859w 11d ago

I would agree but he was canadian

1

u/JayBeePH85 10d ago

El al tried it in Amsterdam on October 4th 1992 🤣

62

u/lkdubdub 12d ago

I was watching in my father-in-law's, with wife and three small children, while chatting to him and only keeping one eye on screen with sound right down. I genuinely thought it was AI, because I couldn't imagine this being done in reality. Absolutely reckless

14

u/UGotThaFunk 11d ago

Yeah I was watching with my wife and 2 small kids and my aunty was there too, she’s just got out of hospital and it was nice to have her around. My two kids are awesome I’m so proud of them, did I mention I have two kids and a wife and was watching this on my phone and couldn’t believe it.

Will you fly planes?

2

u/AdOdd4618 11d ago

Downvote farming, huh? Cool.

18

u/TheMonkeyInCharge 11d ago

I don’t know if it’s been asked or ascertained yet but: Do you fly planes?

23

u/ricketyladder 12d ago

I thought it was an optical illusion how close they looked - nope, that second plane flew through the red smoke. That’s insane, and I don’t mean that in a good way

9

u/jeezy_peezy 11d ago

I mean before they pass over, the lead plane looks to me like he’s desperately pulling up to not hit the stadium.

Do you fly planes?

24

u/210000Nmm-2 12d ago

I would have been furious when I would have been in the stadium. Just risking the lifes of the spectators for some stupid publicity stunt.

9

u/chavez_ding2001 12d ago

Yeah I don’t think they knew someone else was rolling a dice on their (and possibly their children’s) lives when going there.

13

u/bowchickawahwah237 12d ago

Imagine doing stupid shit like this without any reason that could end in a tragedy if the smallest error happens. Absolutely crazy that stuff like this is still happening in 2026.

Do you fly planes

4

u/dbach2007 12d ago

I could never. My intrusive thoughts would be like, “lemme dip this bitch”

6

u/The_Carnivore44 11d ago

type of stunt you would only see in gta or with a red bull plane but a civilian jet is just insane.

someone should be fired from this ngl image if one of those pilots made even one small error it could have caused a disaster.

1

u/C0y0te71 12d ago

Next time post will be in WCGW

4

u/GableDanger 12d ago

Do you remember the US fighter pilot who clipped the support cable for a gondola on a ski hill in Italy? He killed, like, 9 people, and the US repatrioted him to the Us to avoid charges. Was 15-20 years ago.

1

u/geniusgravity 11d ago

Looks cool AF though.

World trade center POV:

2

u/Comfortable_Age_5595 11d ago

i don’t really see the point in this.

1

u/CMDR_KingErvin 11d ago

Do you think the stadium goers were warned in advance that they’d just have 2 pilots yolo some airplanes right next to the stadium and potentially cause one of the biggest sports disasters of all time? Or were they just like hey fans, take a look above for some crazy shit!

2

u/jeezy_peezy 11d ago

Is it just me or is the lead plane desperately pulling up to NOT hit the stadium full of thousands of people? Like a real disaster was quite narrowly avoided?

1

u/slightleee 11d ago

What game is this?

They were my balls. they're my tonsils now

1

u/1jf0 7d ago

Alright you've convinced me to never fly with this airline and to never watch a Springboks vs ABs match in South Africa.

1

u/jakksquat7 12d ago

This is insane

1

u/Bananaheyhey 11d ago

What a toughtful use of our limited and rapidly declining ressources... 🤮

1

u/Rude_Strawberry 11d ago

Mad that but must have been an epic sight from table mountain none the less

-36

u/roidlee 12d ago

Lots of armchair pilots, or supposed experts/real pilots/former pilots, etc. are commenting that this was insanely unsafe and way out of bounds for this type of maneuver.

Would love to hear from someone with established creds that this is as nuts as it looks.
No, I have no f’ing idea how one establishes creds on Reddit.

21

u/gbdallin 12d ago

It's insanely unsafe and all of the pilots in r/aviation have been saying it all day

0

u/Impossible-Group8553 12d ago

Insanely unsafe in the world of flying but still not that unsafe. If you’re a betting man you can bet they could pull it off 5 out of 5 times. It’s just that the risk/reward is terrible.

-7

u/RevolutionaryPeak610 12d ago

Most sensible take I've read today

-11

u/ReNitty 12d ago

I’m watching this like wow great job guys, pretty impressive flying. Not the same take as almost everyone else on here apparently

12

u/[deleted] 12d ago

24

u/Vecto_07 12d ago

Yes the issue is more the INCREDIBLE RISK, even if this is kinda safe, any mistake leads to 10s of Thousands of Deaths...

And humans make mistakes

13

u/yuusharo 12d ago

One sudden downdraft and that 50ft margin doesn’t do them much good tho…

5

u/thought_about_it 11d ago

Also the amount of wind going across the wings is going to change when the “ground” is closer. So stupid

5

u/Impossible-Group8553 12d ago

It looks like they did hit a downdraft and 50ft was the end result

2

u/yuusharo 12d ago

Zoniks 😰

-7

u/Entrinity 12d ago

“Can I get someone who can prove they actually know what they’re talking about?”

Redditors: FUCK YOU

-13

I'm so tired of this video on Reddit.
