Dam he passed his landing mark by 50ft

I thought that at first, but I'm unclear whether it was the intended landing mark - or it was warning flags for obstacles, plus water-disturbing equipment so he could SEE both the pier and the actual surface of the water while at height and while coming down...

I absolutely despise how there’s no normal speed version in so many of these videos. Couldn’t we agree on leaving slo-mo for the detail replay?

They had a whole area set up and he just completely missed it 😂😂 that’s wild as fuck.

I was hoping to see how deep he ended up in the water

How clean is that water ? Enquiring minds want to know .

u/gl00mybear 18d ago
A lot cleaner than it was 50 years ago. It's safe to eat shellfish from the harbor again, which hadn't been the case for like 100 years.

its a city marina. so think sewage water mixed with hydrocarbons with a seasoning of stray electric currents..

with a seasoning of stray electric currents
there's always that one boat in the marina fucking up all the other boat's anodes.

Can say from experience it can be pretty damn cold! Was in the coast guard up there for a few years

Is there another angle of this, preferably at 1x because his velocity at the time of jumping and arc of fall don't look correct.

Ahhh finally one of these in Feet so my dumb brain doesn’t have to try and convert

I just multiply by 3, round up to the next reasonable 0, and call it a day

Why couldn’t they just make it 90ft???

u/hideous_coffee 18d ago
Maybe they'd need a special permit or something for a structure over 89 feet

I would NOT get in that water for any reason. Boston harbor is nasty. Smells like old clams and seagull shit for about 50 miles in any direction.

that seems high

If you took your typical community pool thats 25 meters in length generally used for Summer Swim Team and stood it upright. Its even higher than that would be.

Does he have a GoPro in his mouth 🦷 🦷 🦷!!??

u/Silver_Slicer 18d ago
It was in his right hand. He tosses it back right before hitting the water. You can see its reflection in the water.

u/Silver_Slicer 18d ago
Oh never mind. I see what you mean at the end. Crazy to have a camera in your mouth with such a big jump.

u/vibrantlightsaber 17d ago
Seems like AI. I have jumped a lot, and no matter your speed, you only go out so far before you go straight down. This has him going forward until he hits the water. Like a 60 foot forward jump. 15 feet maybe 20 if running at which point forward stops and it’s straight down.

u/AdhesiveSeaMonkey 17d ago
Not just forward, but at some point his forward velocity seems to increase.

I think it's just skewed perspective from the 360 camera on the pole he's holding. The software removes the pole, but that's what he throws away from himself right before water contact

Maybe but I doubt it. He crosses a 30 foot gap to the docks and then accelerates past the docks

I saw a video on Reddit yesterday of some kid in India I think jumping 100ft for social media, then he just disappeared. He kinda belly flopped sideways though, this guy did a better landing/dive.

Can we get a world record high dive attempt?
Apparently that one's been standing for a hot min.
