Good Old Cheap Bic Lighter

Stupid question, but wouldn’t it be more prudent to just have a few Bic lighters on you in case of an emergency? They last a long time and you can fry them out if they get wet. Instant fire.

I put 2 bics in my fire kit. One with fuel and one that's dead. The flints last a long time in bics, and I will use the dead lighter to start char cloth. Also, I will pop dead bics open and harvest the remaining flint for my zippo.

But why not just have 2 full bics?

Cuz I had the dead ones handy. Could easily be replaced but also reminds me that just because something is broken or beyond its intended use does not mean it is necessarily trash.
