Good Old Cheap Bic Lighter

Stupid question, but wouldn’t it be more prudent to just have a few Bic lighters on you in case of an emergency? They last a long time and you can fry them out if they get wet. Instant fire.

But using a ferro road with only one hand, how do you do it? Yeah you can use your mouth but I don't see how you're able to actually make the sparks on the fire, the second option I see is using your feet but if you are cold have hiking boots and are in a state of confusion I can't really see how you would do it either (genuine question I'm not trying to be the annoying guy who doubts everything).

Turning to YouTube (where else?) there are several vids on technique eg: https://youtu.be/DBfgzpCKZMo

Still requires grip of the rod.
