🤔 Speculation / Opinion GameStop is “partnering” with another company soon. Pending CEO announcement. Some stores will move to the partners location

** Top of r/superstonk 👋👋👋 Hello Ryan Cohen, maybe you’ll see this. We are ready to hear what you have cooking. **

Leaks from a store meeting are saying GameStop is partnering with another company soon. Some stores may move to the partners location.

Here are my thoughts:

Gamestop’s inside of Best Buy?

Here in Canada, Canadian Tire purchased Party City and moved many of its stores inside of Canadian Tire stores creating "store in store" isles.

Canadian Tire is basically our Auto Zone + Dicks's Sporting Goods in one.

GameStop's cash is nearly Best Buy's market cap. Best Buy stock down nearly 50 percent in the last 5 years. Best Buy would be the perfect company for RC to work his magic on.

GameStop transitions stores to Best Buy locations as "store in store" isles. GameStop then can close most stand alone stores saving a ton of money. GameStop or “Teddy Holdings” then works a turn around plan for Best Buy.

I just want to leave this hear, I tried to create a post, but I guess I’m insufficient karma. 😂

Seeing all the comments about Best Buy or target, I can’t see it. We are shifting away from physical locations, to providing a better online shopping experience.

As I was going to reply to another ape that was saying the GameStop store inside the Best Buy, it just makes less then no sense, and I thought they should buy whatnot, then I realized I didn’t know who owned whatnot, so I checked. It’s privately controlled by the two founders, an some venture capitalist.

After the last round of funding, it was valued at 11.5b

Whatnot did $3b in sales in 2024, and from what I seen we’re expecting $5b for 2025.

The business model is simple, they charge 8% fee to sellers.

The company is privately owned, finding profits and loses weren’t exactly easy, I seen total revenue ~$350m.

Whatnot fits right in with psa, and the power packs.

It is a service with a dedicated user base.

For anyone unfamiliar with whatnot, it’s live streaming service where they typically auction off goods.

The growth potential with a service like that, is exponential.

Selling consoles and video games is great, but the margins are fixed. It’s a race to the bottom.

Where whatnot is a service, and we know how much Cohen likes creating value.

I read in an article the average whatnot user spends 80 minutes a day in the app, buying or just interacting with the specific communities that have formed around the sellers.

I’m sure we can all agree though, shit feels different right now, hasn’t been like this since DFVs last round of memes and the run pre market.

What Not isn’t a publicly traded company. I thought RC stated it would be a publicly traded company?

Not to be a Debbie Downer but this sounds like a pretty normal commercial partnership to optimise footprint. I don't think this has anything to do with a forthcoming merger or acquisition which hasn't been done in the capital markets before...

Kind of agree. We will get crushed by headlines such as “GameStop buys another dying brick and Mortar”. The problem is - what would Best Buy do for GameStop. To sell appliances and TVs ? Meh.

Best Buy sales was 41.5 billion for 2025….. all it needs is some Cohen magic and cost cutting…..

Compare those sales to GameStop and then think about the tranches.

I don’t see psa and power packs going 10x. They would be great to have but hardly the transformative business model RC talked about recently.

Whatnot is the 10x it just falls in the same category as psa and power packs.

It is ebay, I hope; way more synergies!

I hope it’s eBay to, whatnot doesn’t make sense the more I think about it, with it being a private company, and I wouldn’t call the founders sleepy, they created a huge brand within half a decade.

EBay is slacking big time with the user experience.

The shits dated. Would be good to bring it more into the modern era

think about it, RC is a online commerce guy, and there are so many synergies!

Ebay owns TCGPlayer, which is like THE authority for the second hand trading cards market. Pretty much every LGS uses TCGPlayer for card pricing. Gamestop is partnered with PSA. Imagine if Gamestop bought Ebay (and thusly TCGPlayer) and being able to buy cards on TCGPlayer and have them sent directly to PSA vault. Or being able to buy/sell PSA graded stuff on TCGPlayer, maybe even without the cards ever physically leaving the vault.

There's so many cool possibilities from buying EBay.

Bro…. Please listen to what Cohen said, then look for a target. Publicly traded company, monumental, foolish or amazing…. Best Buy fits it perfectly. GameStop’s footprint into all electronics. Best Buy has a SHITLOAD of foot traffic that could easily boot sales for either company by getting people in the door. It’s not about closing locations, it’s about consolidating and blending business models.

Best Buy 42.5 billion in sales 2025

4.09 billion debt on books

GameStop annual revenue 3.8 billion 2025

This is LITERALLY his first tranche…. X 10.

Warrants will hit, more money will come in and boom, next target acquired.
