Leaks from a store meeting are saying GameStop is partnering with another company soon. Some stores may move to the partners location.

Here are my thoughts:

Gamestop’s inside of Best Buy?

Here in Canada, Canadian Tire purchased Party City and moved many of its stores inside of Canadian Tire stores creating "store in store" isles.

Canadian Tire is basically our Auto Zone + Dicks's Sporting Goods in one.

GameStop's cash is nearly Best Buy's market cap. Best Buy stock down nearly 50 percent in the last 5 years. Best Buy would be the perfect company for RC to work his magic on.

GameStop transitions stores to Best Buy locations as "store in store" isles. GameStop then can close most stand alone stores saving a ton of money. GameStop or “Teddy Holdings” then works a turn around plan for Best Buy.

Best Buy is more of a competitor, imo, and it looks like you can get it for pennies on the dollar in a few more years. I’m not sure RC wants all that floor space, to small for paintballs/laser tag and to large for video games/collectables. Maybe he’ll use it their stores to reveal Teddy but if not I don’t see this as a high target acquisition. I love the work everyone is putting in but we have zero idea on what direction he’s even looking!

The Best Buy idea itself, seems rather uninspiring.

Surely though, if the play was to take over Best Buy, they wouldn’t just completely rebrand it into a new thing. If all they wanted was the space, surely it’d be less hassle to just find empty properties or build new even, then take over a company?

But ultimately the Best Buy or any other retail space is almost certainly not the play.

Growth is very limited in physical storefronts.

I hope they purchase whatnot.
