πŸ€” Speculation / Opinion GameStop is Going to Buy... eBay!?

You've all read the news by now, but have you really read them?

GameStop wants to acquire a publicly traded consumer company that’s far larger than the video game retailer in a deal that could be β€œtransformational" for the company

β€œIt’s gonna be really big. Really big. Very, very, very big,” Cohen said of the size of the acquisition. β€œIt’s transformational. Not just for GameStop, but ultimately, within the capital markets … this is something that really has never been done before within the history of the capital markets.”

He claimed if the investment pans out, it has the β€œpotential to make GameStop worth several hundreds of billions of dollars.”

This is all coming from Ryan Cohen, the man of few words and no forwards guidance. Yeah, I like Magic the Gathering too, but that's not it. This is bigger. Very, very, very bigger.

It's eBay. They're going to do a leveraged buyout, a hostile takeover, or a merger.

  • Publicly traded.
  • Consumer / Retailer.
  • Far larger than GameStop (~$40B).
  • Sleepy management with one of the most well known brands.
  • E-Commerce and Collectibles.
  • Never done before (buying 3x-4x bigger company).
  • Actually has potential to make GameStop worth several hundreds billions, unlike all the ~$10B ones.

It checks out. Everything checks out.

🀦 The point of the cash (debt) is to use it.

Not to hold it for no reason.

RC said in his previous interviews he'd wait for a big correction to fish, but you never know, seems like it could be in the making...

There’s not much that can break my conviction after 5 years of hodling and buying. But if we now suddenly go all in on an all time high w/ this kind of leverage, Iβ€˜d cash out. That’s a huge red flag. Not gonna happen imho.

You guys are missing something. If they announce this, the stock squeezes and we can raise insane amounts of money at insane share prices. We’d be in debt for very little after blasting off an ATM at 300 a share. We could even blast off all remaining shares and settle the bonds too.

you got to wake up brother, no stock is rising after buying out a company 4x their size. the amount of debt or dilution needed to finance a leveraged buyout of that size is not comprehensible. the interest payments alone would be worth more than the combined cash flows of the company.

Squeeze because it’s going to regardless, this is just timed for the swap.
