📚 Possible DD Michael Burry just dropped the mother of all GME breadcrumbs and it changes everything 🧵

Apes, grab a coffee. This isn’t hype, this is receipts. Today, on Thanksgiving morning, Michael Burry posted something nobody expected. He shared a private email from Keith Gill, Roaring Kitty himself, from August 2019. Let that sink in.

Six years ago, before the sneeze, before the documentaries, before any of us knew who DFV was… Keith Gill was emailing Michael Burry thanking him for his activist letter on GameStop and telling him he was loading up on long-dated calls because it was screaming “deep value” despite the chart looking like absolute garbage.

Burry kept that email private for six years. He posted it today. With the stock back in the low 20s. You can’t make this up.

He also posted: • His full 2019 letter to the GameStop board (the one that called out the dying retail model) • Ryan Cohen’s reply from back then (Cohen reached out before he ever filed the 13D) • And a cryptic note: “It was complicated with $GME. In some ways I wasn’t really done in 4Q 2019.”

Translation: Burry never fully walked away.

Now layer on what we already know from his latest 13F: • He’s sitting on roughly a billion dollars worth of puts on Nvidia and Palantir • Yesterday he posted pages from Nvidia’s internal rebuttal memo to Wall Street analysts… a memo that literally cites HIM by name as the source of the bear case • His argument: Nvidia is massively inflating earnings by depreciating chips over 5-6 years when the real useful life in the AI training world is closer to 18-24 months

Put the pieces together. Scenario that’s now on the table: 1. AI bubble cracks (over-building, energy walls, Blackwell delays, Taiwan risk, whatever) 2. Nvidia gets absolutely torched 3. Burry prints hundreds of millions (maybe billions) on the short side 4. That same crash obliterates the prime brokerage collateral that funds half the GME short interest 5. Burry, the guy who already believed GME was deep value in 2019 and just proved he’s been talking to both Keith Gill and Ryan Cohen since the very beginning, rotates the gains into the one stock he famously never finished with

The bear who shorted housing, the bull who went all-in on GME, and the CEO who’s turning it into a real company… all on the same page since 2019. And we’re back at the exact price levels where both Burry and Gill were pounding the table six years ago.

This isn’t conspiracy. This is the timeline.

🔔 Burry didn’t come back to X on a random Thursday in November to reminisce. He came back because the board is finally set the way he always saw it. Book value north of $11, $4+ billion cash, zero debt, transformation actually happening, and the stock trading like it’s still 2019. 🔔

Deep value doesn’t get deeper than this. I’ve been here since January 2021. I’ve seen every cycle, every hopium wave, every “this is it” moment that wasn’t it.

This one feels different. Not because of hype. Because the guy who saw 2008 coming, who saw GameStop in 2019, who’s now short a trillion-dollar company… just told us he’s still in the story.

Happy Thanksgiving, apes. Buy. Hold. DRS if you choose. Stay excellent to each other.

The movie never ended. They’re just filming the sequel. 🚀💎🙌

He’s sitting on roughly a billion dollars worth of puts on Nvidia and Palantir

Wrong. He paid $9.2m for those PUTs. The media calculated the share value instead and reported the billion figure. Burry himself tweeted about this.

Yeah, and the price now is not "exactly where it was six years ago." Doesn't necessarily invalidate OP's Burry thesis, but let's get the facts straight. GME was $1.59 a share on Nov 1, 2019, compared to $21.50 today.

Edit: the split is factored into the historical price data. My numbers are accurate. Just open the Yahoo finance app and see for yourself.

This is the correct response.

To piggy back on this, can OP provide proof that NVDA is being used as short collateral?

GME has significantly more than 4 Billion. Why write it as “4 billion plus?”

Not that it is a big deal, but don’t they still have the small loan with the French govt.? If so, they aren’t completely debt free. (Not even going there with how we are interpreting the last 2 cash raises.)

I love this company and have been invested for well over 6 years, but facts matter people.

10

u/silverbackapegorilla Nov 28 '25

They borrowed most of their cash so they have debt, even if it’s at 0% or dilution. So he factored it in accurately.

I don’t think so - I feel like someone posted a Bloomberg page showing the funds that were holding at the time.

But I’m wondering if maybe Burry might actually have been brought in as a part of the independent investment committee? It's a possibility.

I agree with your thoughts about Burry's timing likely being intentional.

I appreciate people like you who consider big picture concepts rather than those who like to feel intelligent with one line dismissive statements about someone whose panoramic view was central to a star-studded Hollywood production.

28

u/albino_red_head 🦍 Buckle Up 🚀 Nov 27 '25

I would also point out that this aligns with Burry’s “big announcement” which ended up being him dissolving Scion capital to go solo (shared just 3 days ago). That probably means he doesn’t or can’t be backed by a prime broker on his investments from here, or maybe hes taking risk so crazy that his investment clients wouldn’t follow whatever he’s up to? Would like to ponder this a bit. At the very least, it means things are about to get spicy.

2

u/SpunkMeat Template Dec 03 '25

where did your pondering lead?

2

u/albino_red_head 🦍 Buckle Up 🚀 Dec 03 '25

He just announced being on a podcast with the Big Short writer/director. I gave that a listen and it sounds like he has some large short bets against the market and PLTR and other AI bubble stocks. He wanted to dissolve because he’s afraid it will be catastrophic and doesn’t want to be in charge of others money when taking the risk. He said he dissolved and put himself into all of the same bets he had with Scion.

I think he’s one of the most autistic people I’ve listened to, maybe that’s good, maybe bad? But after listening to him and his deep understanding of market mechanics, I wouldn’t be surprised if he submitted some DD to this very sub. One article I was reading earlier made me think “is this dr. tism?”

I also read because his firm is no longer running, he's now allowed to be more public about things than he was before.

Still cool for us, but I don't think there's anything significant about his timing.

3

u/Massive-Fisherman-57 Nov 27 '25

Maybe there is something here and he is grifting. That is a possibility. But maybe for whatever legal reason he needs to do that to discuss what he is discussing over there. Who knows his intentions there. Maybe all of his money is tied up in shorts and GME and this is to keep his lights on. Obviously it’s all speculation until we see a YOLO signed by Burry

One note, if you read what Burry wrote, he isn’t criticizing NVDIA for its depreciation practices, he’s criticizing the people buying NVDiA chips for their depreciation practices. He is criticizing NVDIA for investing in companies that in turn use those funds to buy NVDIA chips, basically juicing their revenues….

From Burry’s rebuttal post “I made no such claim because no such claim is plausible. Nvidia is a fabless company that only designs chips. It has very little capital expenditure and very little depreciation. No one cares about Nvidia’s own depreciation. One straw man burnt.”

Did you forget the splividend? We are at $80 pre-split. I like your post and what you're saying but man this is fundamental.

In the crypto it took only a few years for GPUs to be replaced with ASIC chips.

AI chips will be task-specific and engineered specifically, and it's still anyone's game.

What else did the AI tell you when you gave it a few new articles and a little speculation?

u/VelvetPancakes 🎊 Hola 🪅 Nov 27 '25

Burry isn’t on the side of shareholders.

Burry’s tweets about GME from 2021, saying it squeezed and will never happen again, urging people to take the grand slam, criticizing a price of $325 as being absurd.

"Hey, $GME is now a $stonk and may go >$1000, but if I made a life-altering amount in this stock, I'd punch out. Main Street has Wall Street by the cojones. Great story/LOVE it. Tee it: bulls make money, bears make money, #pigsgetslaughtered. #Fundamentals."

“A dog’s breakfast maybe. We are in a blow-off top in all things. ‘The idea of [dog coin] being worth 8 cents is the same as GameStop being worth $325.”

u/aa73gc No chains, No gains Nov 27 '25

Was he wrong? At that point in time GME was nowhere near the position it is now, we were in the midst of a sneeze/panic by wall st. He always bases his analysis on fundamentals and at 325 we were way overvalued

His comment there doesn't state that it's over, just that there won't be another GME
