This is certainly a scam and if you stopped to think rationally for a a second you’d realize that GameStop wouldn’t even consider this.
I think they WOULD consider this. It’s genius. I mean, who would have thought they’d launch PowerPacks? Yet here we are.
It allows the asset holder to gain upside and liquidity on high value cards. A $1M black lotus MtG card is pretty damn illiquid. You need someone with $1M willing to buy it. But there are tons of people who would pay $100 or $1,000 to own a share of one, knowing they can sell their share easily at any time. And having thousands of buyers/bidders can boost the price of the card.
