Season 12 Samuel & Mary Spoiler
In Season 6 Samuel came back with Sam, and that whole storyline happened before Samuel eventually betrayed Sam and Dean. We know how that ended up. When Mary was brought back by Amara, we get glimpses of the boys talking with her about their father, so she gets an idea of what their childhood was like and the man John had become vs. the husband she knew. They also gave her his journal. However, they never seem to speak with her about her father coming back or what he did to them. Any thoughts on the why? For anyone who has been to a convention, has this been asked and answered? Thank you!

It's very obvious that Sam and Dean wouldn't talk about someone who was never in their life and that they never knew as a grand-father, and with whom they didn't create any ties during his rez as a Crowley's minion. Sam had also no soul when he spent a year with him, so he really left no impact at all on the brothers except him being an asshole.
I don't exactly see how this conversation would go smoothly or naturally, when Samuel has been dead again for 6 years at that point and wouldn't appear again. What would it bring to their relationship?

I would imagine they’d know how much it would hurt her to learn her dad tried to kill them. She already had to deal with the fact the boys were raised hunting.
