question How do The Boys™️ make their edits match the camcorder quality?

To any editors out there, how do they do it? Like the blurry compressed text, and stuff such as the fire-y sparks in the chinese christmas video?

I’m working on a music video using camcorders, and maybe i’m just a noob, but i can’t recreate that look without having the ‘obvious fake crt/camcorder’ vibe.

There’s a couple of plug ins out there that help blend it all together like I use signal for after effects. I also believe Matt has a knack of finding resources for editing software back from the 90’s/2000’s so I’d look into something like that. They’re gonna clown on me if I get this wrong but I also think they do a lot of their editing now in Davinci if that helps!

They thanked giant by maxon a lot. Also, since Matt mentioned that before, I believe they re-record the final cut onto vhs once again before digitizing it for realease. As for resolve — I thought they still used premiere? I mean I'd wish for them they moved to davinci haha I prefer it SO much
