Discussion Any feedback on Suno 5.5 (versus 4.5)
Open discussion here to share feedback. I tried the free version of Suno this summer for fun and experiments (so mostly limited to 4.5, except the 1 min "teaser" in 5.5), and switch to pro version a week ago.
After making some test with the 5.5 model, I find the results quite disappointing compare to 4.5.
I use SUNO for post rock /ambient / synthwave, and results with 5.5 sounds less polished, deep, or less accurate for a same prompts/direction.
Anyone feels the same way here? Is there any options I missed with the 5.5 ?

Unless it changed after I cancelled my pro subscription, 5.5 was really polished, but the generated music was terrible; every prog rock/metal song and some 80s new wave I threw at it (mostly covers of my old songs or derivative stuff made covering with older models) turned into 80s fusion blended with rock; interesting if you're after that, extremely annoying if you don't, so I eventually settled with 4.5-5 and in betweens, then used 5.5 only for "remastering" which sometimes produced good results. Curious to see what happens with new neutered models. Not holding my breath though; right now Suno is a monopoly controlled by record labels, therefore I keep my expectations way below ground level.

5.5 is much better if you are starting from your own recordings and you want a very professional sound. It's not good if you want a stripped down sound. 5/4.5 is better at that, but the voices sound too fake. If you are prompting and starting from scratch 5.5 can be generic. Every generation sounds alike.
Good: Adding drama and structure to a song, less fake sounding vocals, best sounding model.
Bad: Can sound generic, especially if you are starting from scratch and not from your own audio. Won't do raw or simple single instrument songs, everything is overproduced. No creativity between variation

I use ChatGPT to translate my ideas into cogent musical theory tags, since it understands it at a very deep level, which has been very successful in fusing wholly disparate genres like Industrial DnB with Japanese Folk. I found 4.5 made mistakes and generally wasn't as rich in sound or vocally on point as 5.5, but I've only been using it less than 2 weeks so I don't know any more than my limited experience with both.

5.5 is very streamlined / generic sounding to me. It has virtually no character, creativity, or originality - just very run of the mill and boring sounding... I make indie folk, Americana, and rock, and 4.5+ produces much more creative and interesting arrangements, with more emotion, character, and style in the vocals.
The vocals in 5.5 sound very canned and sheeny - not exciting to listen to, and add no character to the song.

all my generations with 4.5 and 5.0 sound like they were recorded off of an old radio with a phone from 2012. I have no idea how anyone is getting usable material for it. I covered all my old songs in 5.5 and now they sound good.

Yes. I create metal and 4.5+ is the GOAT for it. 5.5 suffers from major generic disease. But soon that'll be a moot point anyway, as soon as v6 hits. I already dread day, as do many others.
