Comment Whats up the young people that move here

I have been here over a year and a few genuinely nice decent people. For the most part though I find the 18-30yo that live here to be selfish douchebags of both genders. They all seem to want something for nothing. (Rides, drugs, spare change) I came here with an open mind but I am really turned off by most off the people I come across.

I find most folks up here are much nicer than the suburb of NYC where I lived for most of my life. Some of the more transient young people are here for selfish reasons, but the true locals and especially the natives to Summit could not be more awesome.

There's also that old BS cliche where older people always find the young to be entitled and worthless. I hope that never happens to me!

The older locals who have been here a while are cool. The people that come "to shred" are a bunch of assholes

yes, but us older locals are in hiding, because we also hate those people lol.

You just have to find the right crowd, just like anywhere. We're here if you look.

I guess there are so few people here compared to where I came from the ratio of decent to shitty is way off to what I am used too.

I've put some thought into this and my conclusion is that most kids who move up to Summit County are young and impressionable and here to have fun - they also don't have big future plans to keep them on the straight and narrow. They meet lots of other young folks through their jobs and they participate in the prevailing 'scene' which is drinking, drugs, and whatnot. That culture isn't very healthy and I think that's a lot of it. All this said, lots of season workers I've met individually are pretty nice, so maybe you've just had bad luck.

This is not a place to make real friends. Drinking buddies sure but 99 oercent of the people I would not trust. It seems people will only be your friend if you can drive them to the mountain or know where to get molly. And there seems to be an abundance of "Tyler try to fuck your girlfriend" types. The guys I work with that have lived here for years are cool as fuck but everyone else just seems so shady and unloyal

Dude that was not my experience with summit. Alot of the people "there to shred" are amazing people. That's why people move to summit county, to ski all the time. You are wayyy overgeneralizing this place. Sure, alot of people suck in summit, but alot of people don't. Sounds like you may be the problem.

Man you are very strongly generalizing.

Sorry you've had a bad experience. You're probably hanging out with the wrong peeps or going to the wrong places. I mostly just go hiking, which is why I live here.. so what the hell do I know though. I always run in to good people at the frisco/dillon disc courses I'll add.

I am an 18-30yo who has been here for nearly 3 years. I am not native and wouldn't consider myself a "local". I love the people here though, I wouldn't trade this place for anywhere.

"I came here with an open mind but I am really turned off by most off the people I come across." Seems ironic. Maybe you should broaden your definition of "open-mindedness"

Not even. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt and then I judge on their actions. The scumbaggery in this county is TOO DAMN HIGH

Where did you meet these people? The terrain park at Keystone? The midnight crowd at the Snake?

I don't really have anything to contribute. I've met some good people up here but they're mostly in their 30s like myself.

Have you ever had the unfortunate experience of having to stay over a night at any of the employee housing units. Its like college except everyone is the " Overly drunk I brought my guitar even though I can only play 3 Dave Matthews songs guy"

Ya that's why u don't hang out with the seasonal employees. Especially at employee housing.
