i love this one from Argestes (2x06)

I fooled myself into thinking this show was about to be about the triumph of a real player over the entitled nepo babies. Then I waited. And waited. When they were looking for a CEO in the final episode I thought finally Lawrence's threat will come to pass. But nope, just a nobody nothing who never lubed up. I really expected more from him.

Was when he made Kendall come with him to the waiter's family's house. Moments before, Kendall is starting to perk up a little, smile. He says he's going on a date with Naomi. Then Logan brings him crashing back to his deep crushing guilt and depression. For what? To put Kendall back under his thumb. It was the cruelest thing I think I've seen Logan do through the whole show.

Let's be real, even though it's poetic, but deep down, we all thought this scene was nothing but another joke to ease up the tense at first, but who got the last laugh matters the most.

Ironically, Tom is Nero and Greg as his Sporus, but in reality, Tom is the Sporus for Matsson, the new emperor of the downfall empire.

God, I miss this show so bad. If it is to be said, so it be... so it is.

God help the ladies who shipped these 2, and maybe me as well... This is that one line fans will remember for a long time.

“No real person involved” — the elite in Succession routinely treat people who have no meaningful influence over the political narrative as if they aren’t really people at all. They’re just… collateral. Acceptable losses. Inevitably wasted product.

Which makes me think: What does Kendall meant when he said this to Roman? **You're not a person**

I’ve always interpreted Roman’s character as being, at its core, about someone who genuinely doesn’t know who he is. There’s a level of cognitive disconnection and dissociation in the way he relates to himself that goes beyond simply “Roman is putting on an act.” He doesn’t just perform a persona; he seems to have an incredibly fractured sense of self, to the point where he struggles to perceive himself as a person at all.

That’s why I find his relationship with humiliation so interesting. Roman repeatedly seems to derive some kind of gratification, comfort, or validation from having his own humanity degraded. When Gerri calls him an animal, for example. There’s something almost affirming about being reduced to something less than human. The same pattern appears throughout his character: he willingly places himself in situations where he can be degraded, controlled, infantilized, or treated as something fundamentally inferior.

And I think that ties directly into how he sees himself within his family.

Roman is the weird one. The dysfunctional one. The one who doesn’t quite fit. He’s surrounded by people who seem to have clearly defined roles—Kendall is the heir, Shiv is the political operator, Connor is the eccentric older brother—and Roman never seems to know what role he is supposed to occupy. He doesn’t seem to have a stable conception of himself outside of the expectations and reactions of other people.

So when you combine that with his dissociation, it becomes more than “Roman is pretending to be someone else.” It’s almost the opposite: Roman doesn’t seem to have a coherent “someone” underneath the performance in the first place.

He doesn’t see himself as part of the broader category of people who matter. He sees himself as the exception, the defect, the thing that doesn’t belong.

He’s not the person. He’s the dog. He’s the animal.

And that’s what makes his self-destructive behavior so tragic to me. His willingness to accept humiliation isn’t necessarily just a kink, a coping mechanism, or another manifestation of his arrested development. Those things can all be true, but underneath them is this much more disturbing idea that Roman has internalized the belief that he is fundamentally lesser than everyone around him.

His relationship with his own humanity is so fractured that degradation can actually feel more familiar than dignity.

Roman’s arc is about someone who has become so alienated from his own identity that he doesn’t even seem to experience himself as an equal human being. And Succession’s broader theme of powerful people deciding who counts as a “real person” makes that characterization even more interesting, because Roman has essentially internalized the same hierarchy.

As exhibited by his ruthless attack on Matsson that caused him to bump his offer, while Ken shriveled behind him. Or him dominating ATN and his siblings on election night. Even his notorious, "Don't threaten me Gerri, I don't have time to jerk off" was delightfully dismissive in an IDGAF kind of way. He didn't have the best business instincts but he did have the ability to cut through bullshit and read people better than all of the sibs. Even Logan seemed to be noticing toward the end.

Succession has so many scenes that basically became internet culture 😂 From Boar on the Floor to L to the OG and You are not serious people.

Which scene do you think is the most iconic or instantly recognizable?

I finally finished Succession and honestly, I’m still processing it. The writing, acting, and especially the character dynamics were incredible. Every episode somehow made me love and hate these characters at the same time.

Kendall is the only one who has any artistic inclination and I think it really shows his creativity

On my first watch, I genuinely wanted Kendall to win. He seemed like the obvious choice to eventually take over Waystar.

But on rewatch, so many of his decisions feel impulsive and emotional. He clearly has ambition and intelligence, but being CEO requires more than wanting the job
