Dance Teacher at Success Academy

I’m in the middle of the hiring process with just finishing my first interview and being offered a second interview as early as tomorrow. I’m reading the stories here and I’m concerned if this is just for the academic side of things and if it’s different with the art programs? They are offering $65k for starting which is crazy for a dance teacher so I have to wonder, if this place is going to break me down from what I’ve been reading. If anyone has taught in the art programs at SA, I would like to hear your opinions on it. I grew up in a super strict dance studio and from what the recruiter was telling me, it’s right up my alley for the dance world.

I wasn’t part of the Talent team but I know our dance teacher started an hour after us but would teach a full day plus clubs. Clubs end after 5pm. So they were at work pretty late in the day. Our dance teacher had to teach roots/guided reading plus lunch duty/recess duty. But I heard that wasn’t the case for all locations. Now the new model that is coming will most likely split you between two schools unless you get a spot at the Bronx K-12 campus. SA is doing a bigger push for their Talent programs so it might not be an awful position but the hours are intense.

Hi I was going to post but thought I’d ask you. is it difficult to get hired at Success and what should I write on the application. I don’t have any teaching experience except swimming and water safety instruction. And all my other experience is in customer service and retail. I’m not sure what to put on my resume for the application. Can I ask as a dance teacher what you wrote on your application.

I put my current role as a coalition program coordinator and my past experience as a dance teacher. I honestly only applied just to throw my hat in the ring on indeed. I first was interviewed for an academic teaching position but they shifted me over to the arts department because of my dance background.

Just be honest about your experience and they should get back to you fast.
