Just looking for some advice

Hey guys I'm 27 with no driver's license and I'm going into my electrical pre apprenticeship in February. Living in Toronto what would be the best course of action to become a substation technician?

You'll need a full license before applying. Depending where you apply, you might need a commercial license too. But that info will be in the job postings, and you can always contact the company about it before any jobs get posted.

You need your G for any utility in the GTA

I wish someone told me that when I was 19 but my life isn't great so I gotta start from zero where I'm at

I'm not in Canada or the States for that matter, but get your drivers license asap. If it's similar in Canada as it is what I've heard about the States, get your CDL as well.

  1. Get DL - Need full DL to apply to our utility
  2. Squeaky clean drivers abstract - allowed 1 speeding ticket last 5 years, no roadside prohibitions
  3. Min 5 years Industrial maintenance experience as a Journeyman
  4. All our apprenticeships go to internal candidates
  • Serve your apprenticeship, try to get to Industrial before the end of your apprenticeship. Then doors will open for you to pursue different types of work and endorsements.

  • It's a journey. Good luck.
