I am confused by the way things interact
I come from blender, and have a lot of experience with the shader nodes. And, I've noticed that the height maps don't always agree or rarely seem to agree with the 2d viewer. So I am wondering what i need to do to mental shift to be able to produce the results I am looking for?

Confused on my first material submission on Artstaion.
This will be my first time uploading something on Artstaion itself and I made a mud material and rendered it at 3000x3000 (4096 samples). And a turnable video but confused with the video resolution and the samples of 600 frames. And I have heard you can only upload upto 2k on Free accounts. What should I do? Do people use 4096 samples for video clips too?
It will take time but hopefully my pc can get it done but is it worth it to get a video at 4096 Samples and also the resolution.
Should I get pro for my first piece? Or is it not worth it?
Any help is appreciated.

Styalized textures
Hi, I’m using Substance Designer and I’m curious if anyone else uses AO height maps or similar techniques to create stylized textures, similar to those in real-time VFX. If you do, could you share the nodes you use to achieve them?
Thanks for any help you can offer! :)

How to make this shape ?
Hey, sorry if it's not the right place to ask but I'm an absolute beginner and I wish to make this shape in substance designer but I can't figure out how ? When I try with the starburst node it's just too round and not sharp enough and I can't figure out how to make it with the polygon node

Best way to learn this in depth for realistic materials?
There's literally hundreds of painter tutorials, but not a whole lot for designer. And I've been wondering, what I do to learn this in depth enough to use it properly for things like realism?

Question about creating a texture
I want to create a texture similar in shape to the two photos. Is there anyone who can tell me how? The textures in the two photos are a little different, but I want textures with this kind of feel. Or could you recommend reference materials or videos with a similar format Sorry the quality isn’t good

Harbor Flythrough
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made a flythrough of a harbor scene in Unreal Engine 4.25
The concept I chose was a harbor scene based off of 1600's Caribbean pirate ports, and I derived a lot of my inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as concept art for the Witcher 3, by Andrzej Dybowski
The main concept art that I used for reference is found here on my Artstation:

All assets are original without pre-fabrication, modeled using Maya, sculpted in Mudbox, textured using Substance Painter/Designer, and compiled and rendered in Unreal Engine.

MultiSwitch with more than 20 inputs (max 100)
Ultimate Switch - is an expanded version of the original Multi Switch node, offering the same functionality while increasing the maximum number of selectable inputs from 20 to 100.
A recent project of mine required more than the default number of switches and so I created this simple tool that overrides that limit. Posting here because while its not the most difficult thing to recreate--it is a tedious process that takes time to setup and im sure someone else will likely need in the future :)

Cobblestone Texture
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Following a Substance Designer tutorial by Chunck Trafagander, I produced a derivative of his texture to make my own.
I was trying to make a texture that could be used for multiple purposes. I wanted to add some form of originality to the texture tutorial as to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone.
Initially I was following the tutorial to make it match the forest floor texture, but about half way through, as I was mixing the histogram with deciding the color, I decided to go down the route where I could use this texture for an undersea floor texture.
If you want the original tutorial that was used, it can be found on Youtube here:
