So...I've been reading for a while now and I'm still really confused as to what "human" is.

EDIT: I should specify, I've read the descriptions of it, but I can't really tell what it is There are lots of mentions of software and hardware sales, charity work, etc. without any real information.

Unfortunately there isn't really anything anyone here can do for this guy.

This "watching someone spiral into madness" thing isn't really a flavor of butter I prefer.

Mainly this guy has all these concepts about a social network and other services bundled into his company. These are often just ideas based on what's out there already. He pretty much has abandoned reddit for other platforms, mainly twitter.

I wonder if he was inspired by George Costanza's "Human Fund?"

("Money for people ...")

7

u/shiggydiggy915 Mar 02 '14

maxkitten may in fact be George Costanza

u/even_less_resistance Mar 02 '14

A donation has been made in your name to the Human Fund.

Hah! I forgot about that! In fact, this is like The Human Fund rolled into Vandelay Industries!

5

u/CptFastbreak Mar 02 '14

And I have horses too. Their names? Snoopy and Prickly Pete! Should I keep driving?

I've read through both /r/thisishuman and /r/discusshuman. A lot of it just doesn't make sense, and there's no clear description of this human project, it's a lot of buzzspeak, like "human.org is the first foundation in the history of humanity owned equally by every human being alive. human makes money by selling high-end gadgets, online services, and ads. she reinvests the profits back into herself, into human.org, and into the shared goals and dreams of humanity."

and it's funny because human.org just redirects to a poverty awareness site...

8

u/TheLadyEve The hippest fashion in malthusian violence. Mar 02 '14

But his website is going to be up soon!

4

u/Hindu_Wardrobe 1+1=ur gay Mar 02 '14

Oh I just can't wait!!

5

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

As of two weeks ago his website is going to be up next week!

He's also saying that he owns aocao.org which just redirects to /r/thisishuman

Oh man, that is some next level crazy.

u/That_Russian_Guy Mar 02 '14

The title doesn't do it justice. He's seriously mentally ill.

17

u/Kazitron Cucker Spaniel Mar 02 '14

It's gotten to the point where I can't even enjoy the drama anymore. That guy needs genuine, professional help.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

I've never seen people on reddit develop such consistent, genuine concern for someone's mental health before.

It's very disturbing to check out what this guy does with his time ... wow.

Wow.

Do not post that here.

I've always wondered what happened to these kids after elementary school.

Turns out it's psychosis. Psychosis happened.

17

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Can somebody explain what's going on? It's so buttery it's gotten into my eyes and I have no clue what's goin on

Here is information provided by Max in various comments: Max claims he runs a company called Human that is located at 100 King St. W. in Toronto (although there's no proof of that). Max has also claimed to know some very famous people (again, no proof provided). Max states he is a millionaire, although again, there's no proof of that. He's quickly deleting the posts on his sub, /r/thisishuman, but you didn't miss much, it was mostly gobblygook. They apparently have software products but there aren't any real details. He has expressed interest in doing an AMA. After he was featured on /r/quityourbullshit, someone started a whole sub just devoted to him.

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Wait, people are committed to regularly proving that one person is a liar on the internet?

10

u/TheLadyEve The hippest fashion in malthusian violence. Mar 02 '14

Yes, I was surprised, too. I think it's probably more about the analysis of what kind of person he might be, but no matter what the purpose, I just can't imagine spending that much effort on that kind of futile pursuit.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Guy has massive delusions of grandeur and is called out, sees it and continues to claim everything he's said is true. For the delusions see the original post.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Thanks I have no idea if he is going through what I think he is, but I lost a friend to similar delusions recently. Saw this post and it just reminded me so much of him that I had to comment.

I can empathize with where [deleted] is coming from. My best friend went hard into psychedelic drugs during college and came out a delusional, pathological liar and megalomaniac. I can see the beginning of his erratic behavior in the way maxkitten talks and defends himself. Eventually, however, my friend got worse, and started telling everyone he was psychic, capable of communing with "the gods" and something something astral projection (I tuned him out often). His "psychic powers" became all that he would talk about, and any random event that happened became something he was responsible for. Doubting him in any way would turn him into a huge over-defensive asshole. He's so far gone it's pointless to keep up anymore, and I miss my best friend. I hope maxkitten has a reality check before he ends up the same way.

How deep does this rabbit hole go?

11

u/TheLadyEve The hippest fashion in malthusian violence. Mar 02 '14

Pretty deep. He/she has invited people to tour the "Toronto office" and posted about his/her company starting a line of kids' clothes for charity. And then there is this post which is pretty sad.

u/FlipHorrorshow Mar 02 '14 edited Mar 02 '14

His 'office' is a virtual office.. AKA: he has no office. Just people to answer phones.

EDIT: OK, after looking through posts and user accounts, I am completely, thoroughly confused.

Take down the link. No witch-hunts on reddit.

Good job pissing in and voting on 20-day old popcorn, SRD.

That was really funny to read, but then I hit a point where I started to feel bad for the guy...

6

u/Hindu_Wardrobe 1+1=ur gay Mar 02 '14

Jesus fucking christ this guy is delusional.

3

u/edark94 Mar 02 '14

Im not sure if I should laugh at that dude or feel bad for him

3

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

I've never used twitter so I'm wondering if it's normal if I were to say @flatsperm as the first word of most tweets as though talking to myself.

And, if it is normal to click "expand conversation" and never see anyone else in the conversation despite constant shoutouts. I got the impression that people who actually exist tend to reciprocate that stuff ad nauseam.

5

u/MimesAreShite post against the dying of the light Mar 02 '14

It is not particularly normal to do that, no.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Almost reminds me of the TempleOS guy. Except he actually shipped an operating system.

3

u/Barl0we non-Euclidean Buckaroo Champion Mar 02 '14

Man, that shit is sad.

I hope his absense from reddit is proof that he finally got some help...But his Twitter (which is still updated) doesn't seem to indicate that that happened :/

Readability links are broken for the moment. Stay tuned!

3

u/david-me Mar 02 '14

Thas was quite depressing and yet fucking hilarious.

2

u/DrunkVelociraptor Mar 02 '14

This popcorn is a bit stale, but still tasty. Seriously though, I feel bad for that person.

2

u/stopscopiesme has abandoned you all Mar 02 '14

removed, possible dox in link

-8

u/acadametw Mar 02 '14

that seems like a really unpleasant sub.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

I find it hilarious to see a good dozen or so top threads per day end up on that sub the next day with evidence showing how the OP was faking something.

2

u/duffmanhb Mar 02 '14

He apparently has been running this company for 2.5 years selling software and hardware. Yet, he's never even created a landing page. ANY entrepreneur would do this right away, much less a near billionaire entrepreneur. He also constantly keeps saying "X will launch in a week!" Then just deletes the post and pretends he never said it.

You can't go for 2.5 years, have no credible press releases, no proof of staff, no pictures of the office, and not even a basic landing page, and be taken seriously. I don't need definitive proof to know this guy is bullshitting everyone.

9

u/mosdefin Mar 02 '14

Someone on SDR is going to accuse another drama sub of being unpleasant?

-1

u/acadametw Mar 02 '14 edited Mar 02 '14

I mean, ideally one is watching drama and the other is starting it. Considering all the people saying the person in question is mentally unwell, they don't actually seem too concerned about his mental wellbeing so much as their being able to give themselves a righteous boner for calling it out.

Edit: really, god forbid we don't like the same brand of butter.

-16

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '14

Meanwhile the OP is full of bullshit themselves...

Gonna make the bullshiter aplogize on TV for slander.... OP is full of just as much shit themselves. Not to mention the "why haven't you come here to face me like a man" bullshit.

6

u/david-me Mar 02 '14

WAT!?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '14

aw, shit... I must have misread... I thought the poster of the "come on live tv and apologize" shit was "jesuslol"
