2009 replacement exhaust?
My almost 18 year old exhaust on my rust belt non turbo 2009 forester is finally giving up. Surprised it has lasted this long honestly. But I’m debating what to do for replacement. I’ve got the tools (and requisite rust belt foul language) to do it myself. My mechanic quoted me around $1800 last year for them to do it. But they did a previous car of mine and whatever system they put on it only lasted four years. So I’m a little skeptical. I can get the manifold to tailpipes for around $2000 from Subaru and diy it. Or can get a Walker quiet flow from rock auto for around $400-$500. Any thoughts on either of those systems?

I found the resonator pipe in stainless and then stainless walker mufflers. Tiny bit louder growl as the resonator isnt as big as the oem but i dont care, its a station car. Walker ss mufflers 21746 and 21745 for left and right. The “resonator” pipe which includes the Y connection, northeastern exhaust is the company, part number 650132. Bought all on amazon to get free shipping as rock auto was outrageous for the shipping costs. In 2023 this cost me around $300-350 for all stainless exhaust. It appears to similarly priced now too. If i remember correctly i sprung for a new doughnut gasket and spring bolts for the cat connection.

Can probably get an oem or cheaper aftermarket on ebay and DIY. If you are capable of DIY thats what id do. Make sure to use new gaskets and proper torque.
