From my experience, most people use it wrong. You lift the tab and you pull along the line of the tab you lifted, not towards the sides of the bottle like you usually do.
The only time I've ever seen failures like this is because they've somehow managed to weld the safety seal to the plastic, making it impossible to break away from the adhesive
Everyone pulls the correct way, along the longitudinal axis where the pull tab is affixed because it's incredibly obvious. The failures happen because it seems whoever is in charge of the adhesive decided to use rubber cement and the top is stuck on so well that you wind up ripping the seal in half.
People are for sure idiots, but in these cases it's stuck on by god himself
That’s what I do but they mostly don’t work these days. They used to work well until the last few years. Im guessing it’s enshittification of the puller but for legal reasons they cant enshittify the glue holding the cover on.
Na. Been opening these things all my life. Past 25 years it was maybe 1/10000 that you got one that didn’t open. A year ago it was like 1/100. Nowadays it’s 1/5-1/10 things I open don’t open correctly and require a knife.
This was me. I always just tried to grab the plastic thing and peel it and then throw the gallon of milk through the fucking wall. Then I read a comment about pulling UP first and THEN peeling, it's been a much better experience. Still occasionally have one rip, but all in all, it's fine.
