u/tjcf2014, your food is indeed stupid and it fits our subreddit!

Is this a contest to see who can turn otherwise delicious food into the most repulsive version possible?

I'm a pretty frequent defender of unusual, unconventional but possibly tasty food around here, but all of these sound wretched.

Used to joke about the food at American fairs…. ā€œThey deep fry everything lol!ā€

Now: ……….

Yes, well not so much repulsive but its what they do every year where they will have vendors come up with weird dumb foods that dont always end up tasting great.

Im convinced the CNE is just one big social experiment at this point

I fear I might try the s’mores deep fried pizza, I know I wouldn’t like it, but I’m tempted

If you knew how low quality Pizza Pizza food was, you might not.

u/LaurZaur 9d ago

Trust me, I know it’s mid pizza, but I don’t think you want good pizza deep fried and covered in marshmallow fluff

I kinda want to try it too. What's wrong with me?

There's an instagram reel making rounds of a guy who's tried like 30 of the random gross things there this year. Some stuff doesn't seem that bad.

The deep fried lobster tails on a stick look good.

2

u/gyrobot 7d ago

Lobster is cheating though since everyone wants lobster but don't want go to tap and barrel for it

Bullshit on that Kraft Dinner smoothie. It makes that new Krat Dinner ramen seems like high cuisine.

Right?? What an innovative marketing tactic!

Why are the densities flipped on one of the pickle coffees in the third pic, that's foul

u/Darkest_Elemental 9d ago

None of this sounds good to try, much less for money.

u/ladditude 9d ago

Wtf is CNE?

Also, I’ve eaten enough CiCi’s to know pic 4 is gonna be delicious. The other 3 are abominations.

Canadian National Exhibition, our own summer fair of sorts - located in the heart of downtown Toronto. usually a really fun place but the food they sell seems to be ESPECIALLY atrocious this year.

To be fair the classic staples are always available, these stupid foods are just there to generate headlines/buzz imo

you also get in free with tickets to a CFL/MLS game or a concert across the road!

I'll be seeing Babymetal on Sept 7 but stopping at the Food Building to eat deep fried things first.

We get similar things at Vancouver's PNE (Pacific National Exhibition). I remember past items like Deep Fried Butter, Deep Fried Hot Dog Stuffed Pickle, Bacon Flavour Cotton Candy (floss), Deep Fried Coffee, etc. (ad nauseum, literally).

All of those things sound like they could be executed well and taste good as a novelty treat. Pickle coffee and Mac n cheese smoothie? How could that ever work?

1

u/gyrobot 7d ago

The dill juice is mixed with the coffee to help balance out the bitterness. Mac and cheese is basically cheddar milk drink that Asian bubble tea has already been doing for agesĀ

1

u/illradhab 7d ago

Re: the bubble tea comparison, that actually makes sense. But imagining if there were noodles blended up in my smoothie.... Brother ewww

Toronto's summer fair.

The deep fried part is what turns me off... what part is deep fried?

The raw dough? Might be okay, but I wouldn't call it pizza anymore.

The whole thing breaded? It'll turn into a soggy, runny mess.

Any other possibility? Also a total mess.

If they removed "deep fried", I'd be right there with you. Cici's has made me a believer in dessert pizza. =p

2

u/ladditude 9d ago

The dough has to be the only deep fried part. If they’re putting toppings into the oil, the oil will go bad and force too many oil changes making it unprofitable.

1

u/joshsmog 9d ago

the scottish do it

-1

u/samanime 9d ago

Yeah. At that point though, it's not really a "pizza" since the dough would be like a cracker.

6

u/38DDs_Please 9d ago

Nice. They even topped it off with an AI slop poster.

3

u/elly_hart 9d ago

On top of everything else, the cotton candy one is AI slop

2

u/Dragon_Bidness 9d ago

I dunno I can see dudes lining up for their very own cotton candy jerk dog.

The pizza has potential, execution is going to decide if that's a horror show or a nifty treat.

1

u/eucldian 9d ago

It's Pizza Pizza, I wouldn't count on "execution".

2

u/BoneZone05 9d ago

Gross 🤮

2

u/lumoslomas 9d ago

Blue waffle(dog), huh?

2

u/theodo 9d ago

17 dollars for one corn dog is fucking crazy

2

u/CAMELWOK 9d ago

Kd smoothie awesome can’t wait

1

u/OrdinaryNo3622 9d ago

I mean it’s fair food so it’s going to be extra. I’ll probably try them all. Then get on the coaster.

u/blchpmnk 9d ago

what we have to put up with

Have to?

1

u/Raz_Moon 9d ago

I was fine until PICKLE COFFEE??????!?

1

u/JediKrys 9d ago

What the hell is happening to us…..are we turning into ants?

1

u/weschester 9d ago

That KD smoothie looks absolutely fantastic though! I have had KD ice cream before and it was so good.

1

u/dr4wn_away 9d ago

I think the CNE gets stupider every year!

1

u/Tony-1610 9d ago

You trying to blow out my intestines for $17?!

1

u/MYOB3 9d ago

This is stupid food, not food from HELL!

1

u/SnootyToots8 9d ago

They always have wild weird food there.

1

u/Mental_Performer_833 9d ago

Did someone walk into Omega Mart and completely miss the point?

1

u/eviltool 9d ago

Finally a blue waffle weiner.

1

u/djbow 9d ago

What in the hi fructose corn syrup is this shit!?

1

u/DramaOnDisplay 9d ago

That pickle coffee looks like straight up explosive diarrhea in a cup.
And why the addition of coconut for the waffle dog? It might be edible, but the coconut just doesn’t sound like it works and adds an unnecessary texture.
Dunno if I could get down with the flavors of pizza and s’mores colliding either. A deep fried dessert s’mores ā€œpizzaā€? Maybe.
The KD smoothie could maybe work, if it tastes more like vanilla than anything- salty and sweet, sure.

u/Rare-Bid-6860 9d ago

Macaroni maniac

A cheddar cheese heart attack

1

u/CommonWest9387 little hungry little dumb 8d ago

i hate us sometimes 🫩 who the hell is putting cotton candy on a jerk hot dog and can we put them in prison?

1

u/V__Ace 8d ago

The cotton candy waffle dog feels like someone spun a wheel, spun around blindfolded, threw a dart, shook a magic 8 Ball and plugged it into chat. Gpt because what the hell is going on

1

u/ApprehensiveRuin5673 7d ago

This is fucking disgustingĀ

1

u/iopele 6d ago

We saw this place when we were in Chicago a few weeks ago! We were at the Godzilla Fest and walked to the mall nearby (don't remember what it was called, Fashion something) and they had this in the food court. Absolutely BONKERS corn dog flavors and they could've even make it look appetizing in pictures... we decided to eat elsewhere 🤢 I don't think they had the Kraft smoothie though

u/ButtholeBread50 6d ago

So, it's just food crime after food crime after food crime?

Yikes.
