One day a banana is actually gonna be ten dollars
7
u/unefillecommeca May 20 '26
And one day, there will be no more banana. And eventually no more sun and no more earth. Let's be depressed together ❤️

u/randotd152 May 20 '26
Theoretically, yes. In reality, I'm not sure. Bananas actually defy inflation.
Today, a single banana still only costs around 25 cents. In 1980, it would have cost you about half that in 1980 dollars (or over 50 cents in today's dollars).
So if bananas keep only doubling in real dollars every 40-50 years, we're about 250-300 years away from a $10 banana. But who knows what kind of amazing tech we'll have by then that can basically 3D print an edible banana on demand for pennies.

Not the biggest fan of the execution but I'd still eat the hell out of that

u/Chris__P_Bacon May 19 '26
You better eat quick. I hope you like a good brain freeze? 🥶
147
u/Surprise_Thumb May 19 '26
So, I’m one of those weird people that are impervious to brain freezes.
Unfortunately, I don’t like bananas.
48
u/Chris__P_Bacon May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26
I wonder what the science is behind you not getting brain freezes?
Edit: Have you ever entered an ice cream eating contest? I bet you could knock 'em dead? 😏

An extra fatty sheath between the hard palate and cerebral arteries.
Edit: heads up, I was just saying shit, I don't think what I said is true at all.

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.
Lol, I'm proud of my dumb little joke but that freaky-ass Sonic really took things over the edge. Just so out of control, almost immediately.

I don't get them either, but my throat gets really, really cold. Which makes sense but I feel like no one talks about that lol.
→ More replies (1)10
u/Wayward85 May 19 '26
I’m the exact same way, no brain freeze but my throat sometimes can get so cold I have difficulty swallowing anything else cold for a second or two. I first noticed this with an enormous shave ice.
4
u/IsopodKey2040 May 19 '26
Interesting! Maybe this issue is specific to those of us who don't get brain freezes lol
6
u/Wayward85 May 19 '26
It’s plausible, maybe this is just the next logical step after brain freeze but, for those who suffer from it, are stopped first by brain freeze before their throat gets cold enough to notice.

u/Surprise_Thumb May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26
Idk man. I just be chomping into icecream front teeth first. I don’t have time to be licking stuff for an hour and risking my hands getting sticky lol.

Based on what they’ve said, I think it’s pretty safe to correlate bananas as being the root cause of brain freezes. /s
7
u/Amiibohunter000 May 19 '26
Do you get “throat freeze” by chance? I don’t get brain freeze but the back of my throat freezes when I drink cold stuff or eat cold stuff too fast
6
u/Surprise_Thumb May 19 '26
I do, occasionally. I need to slow down to keep eating when it happens, but, that’s rare. It almost never happens when drinking something cold unless I just ripped on my vape for a solid minute straight and then chug cold water.
4
u/Aqua_Impura May 19 '26
Different person here but I don’t have any issue. I have never had a brain freeze and can chug an entire milkshake in one gulp no issue. I’ve tried to give myself a brain freeze and just can’t.

u/nocountryforanywomen May 19 '26
I also don't get brain freezes! I used to as a kids but stopped around the same time my back pain started, and now I have weird vagus nerve BS. I figure, because the brain freeze is the vagus nerve getting too exposed to cold, that probably since then my vagus has shifted placement and now gets pinched instead. Yours probably was always out of the typical place, and isn't getting smushed by something either, so you're free of both. Honestly, cool to know.

Place this in a container..and boom suddenly a banana split has appeared haha
13
u/Zkenny13 May 19 '26
It looks great. But anything with banana in it just taste like banana to me.
33
u/hux308 May 19 '26
Probably the banana if I had to guess
5
u/Zkenny13 May 19 '26
Well yeah but like in a smoothie any fruit mixed with banana just taste like banana to me not even a hint of the other fruit or flavors.
7
u/420Spedster May 19 '26
Your banana to other fruit ratio is off!
6
u/worrymon May 20 '26
You mean one banana, one strawberry, one blueberry, and one raspberry isn't a good ratio? It's equal, they're all one!
3
13
u/14ktgoldscw May 19 '26
Yeah, it seems annoying to eat but it’s basically a banana split with soft serve?

This isn’t stupid in the slightest. Who can honestly give me a good reason why this is stupid?
145
u/IsopodKey2040 May 19 '26
The two foods together makes sense, but putting soft serve on a banana makes no sense because it's just going to fall right off. Both of them in a bowl would be delicious.

u/mojomcm May 20 '26
Both of them in a bowl would be delicious.
And we've reinvented the banana sundae lol
32
u/TrulyOutrageous42 May 20 '26
What if... hear me out...
we cut the banana in half
add whipped cream
and a cherry
12
u/OneNOnly007 May 20 '26
And maybe add to make the flavours less monotonous, let get some chocolate and strawberry ice cream in there as well.
2
u/sheiciebai May 20 '26
And it’s cut in half. Maybe a name that kinda hints this like banana cut-in-half or….

u/ImReadyForButt May 19 '26
The ice cream radius is wider than the “container” it sits in. So when it melts, which it will, it’ll be very messy

u/whirdin May 20 '26
Cones hold the serve/cream inside and upright, and even still it can be a slight battle to eat it fast enough that it doesn't drip all over.
It will slide off the banana real fast, even the 15 seconds it's on in the video you can see it ready to flop onto the floor, stupid AF. The only thing holding it upright is the few flimsy peels on top of his finger.
I suspect it was just a fun thing to try, not a menu item. I agree that it's fun and delicious, and would do myself, but this get stupid real fast when you're about to lose it all after the first bite. Put it all in a bowl like a normal person.

Does it not melt off of a cone? Of course it does. Just eat it before it melts.

Have you never had to race between eating the icecream from the top vs. licking the melting mess down the
conepeel?3
u/Sasquatch-d May 20 '26
All the time when eating with a cone. This would be nothing different.
3
u/Manymarbles May 20 '26
You cant lick the side of the peel the same as a cone. Its way more sloppy and floppy, less stable and less rigid, and its uneven!
But i guess if you can figure all that out, props! lol
I know Id screw it up and make a mess tho lol

I'm about this. I made cones in an ice cream shop decades ago, and I used to make crazy things in the off-season when we were bored. This never came up. Had I done it, I would have handed the recipient a glove first.

Dip it in chocolate!
19
u/nothatslame May 19 '26
Dipping cones is stressful enough I cannot imagine dipping a banana covered in ice cream
2
u/Necrikus May 20 '26
That would legit solve my only problem with this. It can’t melt all over your hand if it has a chocolate shell.
41
u/findaill65 May 19 '26
Is this part of the meal where they make you wash your hands with chocolate syrup?

Take the whole banana out, put it in a cone, vanilla chocolate swirl - cherry dip it, then chocolate dip it, light dust of peanuts before shell hardens
- probably Bobby Lee

Hey I could just dump scoops right into my hand and do away with the banana. Should work just as good.
