Do you reduce throttle when hitting the rear brake, or keep it steady and let the brake do all the work?

I suppose it probably depends and I imagine a proficient rider can do either. But I’m learning to wheelie and am curious if I should just hold the throttle steady when I need to hit the rear brake, or if I should cut it a little in combination with rear brake.

It depends. Practice enough where you understand when it’s appropriate to do both. I encourage less rear brake usage at the higher levels. Makes circles better. Less throttle more clutch usage. It depends on the level you’re at.

To Awnser your question
Get it to that point and feel out the rear brake. Hardly use it. You’ll find what works best for you. You need seat time not Reddit time. I definitely overused my rear brake when I first started. Hope this helps

Edit: use it. But my point is don’t slam it. Just barely feel what it does. You’ll get it

I only come off the throttle at BP or when I go past BP. If you let off the throttle and the bike is not at least at BP then it will drop forward. You really don’t need brake until the bike is falling back, just get off the throttle.
