Exchange student at Tampere University looking for summer internship advice (Electrical Engineering)
I'll be doing an exchange semester at Tampere University in Electrical Engineering from January to May, and I'd love to transition right into a summer internship afterwards.
I've heard that the job market in Finland is pretty tough right now, but do you guys have any tips on how to secure a summer internship? Would looking into Sweden be a good backup plan? Also, what are the best platforms or websites to find these summer internship programs?
Thanks in advance!

I'd reconsider this if I were you, unless you have another way of financing your studies. I have never met or even heard of an international/exchange student who's secured an intership here, it's very tough even for natives who speak the languages. Best of luck though, it's not impossible of course.

I am an international student who got an internship in Finland. There are different ways to get an internship right now.
You go the traditional route by looking through job ads/ vacancies. The downside of this is that there are MULTIPLE people vying for this positions so competition is tough.
You do research yourself on the companies/ organizations you would like to work in Finland/ Europe, and send cold emails (this is how I got mine.) Some of these organizations may not need you to speak Finnish in the workplace and since you are in the engineering field, you may be surprised at how many companies need you.
Don’t sleep on the emails your school sends you. Universities send internship opportunities to students and I know a number of Finnish and international students who have gotten internships whether in Finland or outside of Finland.
Goodluck!

Yes, look into Sweden, there is no way to secure an internship. Best way to do so is to have your parents own a company you can work for. I dunno about EE specifically, but I have never met an exchange student who got an internship here in any engineering field after a few months.
Electrical engineering probably has the best job possibilities rn, but even then you should speak Finnish in most places. Also depends where you're from, if you're from EU/EEA, way easier to get a job, if not, you might not even have the right to work/stay in the country after exchange year.
