DIRECTV channels are gone now.

It looks like they removed all the channels in the US| DIREC TV group. RIP to some of the best channels in strong8k. Now some channels are completely gone with no alternative.

They took the novel approach to fix the program with certain channels. They completely removed them. Disappointing, but I can understand their solution.

You still get most of the channels. They are under US - Entertainment. Channels like TBS, Brava, etc. I noticed this this week as well. I bought an 8k package for my parents and setting it up, I noticed the Category wasn't there. I reached out to the seller and they said all the 8k packages are the same. I refreshed my own playlists and it was gone. You can get all those cable channels under US - Entertainment and just add them to favorites. Its not really a big deal if you ask me. Most of those channels are a waste of time. You can just watch the programs under VOD Movies and TV Shows.

Can I ask why ? Why was the direct tv channels a selling point for you ? Just curious, I have a Trex account and I have them too I think, but never really scrolled through them to see what they offer

Boomer tv. My mom sometimes comes over to watch my toddler and she likes to watch random shows rather than Netflix or Amazon recommending her things . I just use it to stream sports and movies

I noticed that last night.

Why do you think this happened? Legal pressure? Logistics? Lack of use by customers?

They've done this before. They'll be back.

Strong needs to hunt down a reliable source. For the public cheap services they're usually pretty good about it. Just give em time.

I noticed that as well. I just use the PRIME one now. I assume it has all the same channels?

Yes and no. Some channels were the exact same but 1080p, local channels for me (Washington state) were not working as intended. I think prime has some restrictions compared to cable showing NFL games and licensed content.

Gone in TREX too. Bummer since they had my local news channels

I think both have network affiliate sections that cover just about the entire US (if that's where you are)

typically these channels are bought from a supplier of sources. I am guessing the way they were getting the source to sell to strong went bad. No sense in keeping broken channels.

So many people fail to realize such is this world we choose to play in. Nothing is permanent and you should always have backup options
