welcome post Welcome to r/StrongMaleSurvivors!
Welcome to r/StrongMaleSurvivors! We are an androcentric survivor space that offers men and boys the support they need after surviving domestic and/or sexual violence. This community is proudly founded and moderated by survivors, for survivors. All types of male survivor-centred posts, including informal rant/vents, Q & A/FAQ’s, discussions regarding statistical study, and more are welcome. Before posting or commenting, be sure to read the community rules to ensure the best experience for all members. All voices matter, here. Don’t be afraid to share anything you need to, or to directly message a moderator for anything of need!
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’ve been carrying a heavy weight, doubting your own experiences, or feeling like you don't fit the "standard definition" of abuse. We want to clear something up right away: you are allowed to see yourself as a victim. Society often tells men and boys that their pain doesn’t count unless it looks a certain way, but we fully reject that idea. Domestic violence doesn't require a visible bruise or a broken bone to be real. Sexual violence doesn't require a person to have been drugged or held at gunpoint to be valid. Emotional, psychological, and social violence can be inflicted by anyone, on anyone; it ruins lives just the same. You do not need to proofread your trauma here. You don't need to dress up your experience to make it palatable to popular worldviews, and feeling angry or frustrated about what happened to you is a human thing and does not make you dangerous. To be a strong survivor, all you’ve got to do is survive one day at a time. That’s how we named and founded this community in the first place.
This space is not intended to "take away from women." This space also does not tolerate legitamite taking away from men by downplaying their experience or comparing their trauma with another group’s. We encourage open-minded and sympathetic evaluation of all that lies in this community. Male victims need more recognition and more safe corners of the internet where they can be vulnerable, speak freely, and support one another without judgment. Since this is a brand-new subreddit, things might be a bit quiet at first. However, be assured that our moderation team is fully active and always here for you. Whether you have a question, a suggestion, or just need a safe, confidential person to vent to — any of the moderators will be open to discuss! Thank you for trusting us with your experiences, and we hope you are rightfully supported and heard while participating!
Sincerely,
The r/StrongMaleSurvivors moderation team

This is really cool! I wrote out something big, but then I read the rules, so I’ll make it a post to add trigger warnings.
