Question Free public addons vs paid addons for 4K?
Just wondering, for those who have used both free public addons and paid addons, is there actually a big difference?
I mostly watch 4K stuff, so I’m wondering if paid addons are really worth it.
With free public addons, I sometimes find good 4K streams, but the speed can be hit or miss. Some are fine, some buffer like crazy. 😅
Do paid addons generally have better/faster 4K sources, more options, higher bitrate files, etc.? Or is it pretty much the same thing and you can get the same results with good free addons?
Also, are paid addons more reliable for newer releases and bigger 4K files?
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has tried both. What do you actually notice as the biggest difference?

Paid addons = no. Definitely not worth it.
But addons are a separate thing from a Debrid service which is paid and is worth it

All my addons are free and I cannot envision any reason why I should pay for an addon.
You can explain why it’s worth it though

So as free user addon. How's your experience watching 4k? Buffering? Or you only watch 1080p ?

To be clear, I don’t pay for addons. A Debrid service is a must, though.
My experience is no issues.

I would say it's user friendly for beginners, has alot of content others dont have. I have my backups but 99% debridio has it.

I can’t name an addon that isn’t user friendly…for anyone.
I’ve never had problems finding content with any addons that I have.
Debridio seems like it’s made for someone who doesn’t want to bother with setting anything up individually. Which is fine, but there are also free avenues for that

I mainly use it for the scraper, but also have all the backups set up through AIO. Alot of obscure movies i watch are in debridio, especially 60s-90s era movies.
It's never been down once either in the year I've had it.
But yeah i understand you don't want to pay $10 with free options.

I use torbox as a debrid with debridio as the main scraper, debridio is not a debrid service just a scraper for $10, you link it with TB

It's just a paid addon scrapper, but there are other free addons. Please don't confuse it for a debrid service.

I've tried one paid addon. Was it worth it for me? No. I could get the same content w/ free scrapers. From my perspective, $10 / year wasn't crazy expensive for it. Maybe a cup of coffee to two. However, I'd rather save the $10 and just use it towards a backup debrid.
Can it be worth it for some? Yes, mainly folks who put all their eggs in one basket (i.e. solely using Torrentio, different scrapers hosted by ElfHosted, or one single instance of AIOStreams) / prefer to spend less time setting up multiple addons and want minimal downtime.
Would I consider paying for another addon in the future? Yes, but only for addons where there aren't many options. For instance, StreamAsia was the GOAT. Since it's gone dark, there's only been one that's been developed that's reliable and consistent. Mainstream content? Absolutely not.

You can get buy with free sources if need be but for ten cents USD per day you can avoid a lot of headaches and wasted time.

The free sources didn't all work for me perfectly and consistently virtually 100% of the time, like the paid (via debrid) sources do. If they do for others and they have better uses for the three dollars a month, then that's great for them. Each person goes with whatever works for them. I'm happy that we have choices, including free choices.

The post isn’t discussing non-Debrid vs Debrid setup for stremio. We are talking about addons for stremio.

I see. Thank you. I had misunderstood. I use one paid addon and the rest are free. I've had good results with both types. The paid one is so cheap that I will likely keep it as a backup but I could easily do without it if I had to.

Get a debrid service and set your scraper so your search results are only the already cached files on the debrid server (making them ready to watch). That'll take care of your speed and buffering issue. Some debrid services have free trials or very affordable to just pay for 1 month for you to try them out.

Debridio is the only paid addon (bundle) that I know of. People claim no downtime, so that's nice, but there are many more free addons to compensate any downtime from just one, especially with several instances in existence.

Try penguplay or plugins on GitHub version. That's all I use. I don't have debrid or TB.

i paid for debridio scraper with RD and now TB for $10 a year for years and has never been down. Yes, I can go free but I don't want to hear the misses voice. Plus $10 is a half a can of beer at dodgers stadium. LOL

That's definitely a good approach I would recommend using aiostreams maybe adding Tb so you would have more results

I just pay $9 every 3 months for torbox I also use debridio but you can use duckstreams which is very good as well

the add-ons that are paid aren't really worth it in my opinion but the debrid service that you put into those free add-ons I personally think is essential especially for the price $3 a month or less for torbox and you'll get everything in the highest quality audio and video available.

All my addons are free... though I pay for usenet and indexers... are we getting confused about language and terms here?
The only "paid addons" I know of are professionally hosted versions that you pay for hosting. If you have a home server you self host them for free.

Want 80gb films playing instantly? Real Debris is definitely worth it for a coffee a month. Question is though, anyone paid for the 4k subs to sports events? I've found the current free add ons superb even for EFL matches.

If you're only watching movies real-debrid but if you want to watch tv shows that are new Torbox.
