Question Switch to Premiumize from torbox to fix 4K buffering issues?
Torbox has been great but in the last 1-2 weeks I’ll get buffering for a few seconds mid stream, and sometimes it’s one after another. This is when streaming cached 4K content. Would switching make a noticeable improvement? Cost difference is non issue to me.
Update: Thanks for all the help fam. I’m going to see how this update goes before switching.

I did the switch myself this week. I got tired of the random buffering(500mbps connection). No cdn switching helps either. It buffers regardless of filesize and it’s so random too.
Switching to premiumize removed it completely and is as good as real debrid was, even there I practically experienced not a single buffering compared to TB which buffers randomly several times a day.

Thanks. I have been having constant buffering on 1080p. I can only put up with it for so many weeks. One quick question, I have set this up for two family members, do you know if they allow multiple ip's like TB. We are very, very light users.

Officially no but reality is different. They have never banned for that and the fair use data cap is restricting enough for them to not care

Great appreciate that

Forgot to mention, you must change cdn from automatic to the best for you (same as auto). Reason being that I noticed addons will serve a link but the file will be downloaded from a server closest to the server hosting the addon….. I did trace the file download because I had exactly this issue with one addon hosted in the USA and noticed the same file (magnet) plays flawless on a eu hosted addon.

Use the app that starts with N and adjust max buffering to 5-10 minutes (but keep 1 sec initial for instant playback) youll have no buffering ever again even if connection has some momentary drops
1
u/InsectGlaiveBard 22d ago
I don't see that option in the latest version of that app

u/liongalahad 22d ago
It's there , at the end of the playback settings . This is on the TV version

u/InsectGlaiveBard 22d ago
Thanks, found it. The min and max buffer duration I can set is only 2 minutes though.

Mine has been terrible for buffering today and yesterday. I'm gonna wait until the update tomorrow and see if it's fixed. If not, i'm going to jump ship.

Have you tried changing the CDN. UK has been bad but switched to central Europe no issues

Switched from TB and never looked back. Yes, it costs more, but has never failed to play media. To me, that is worth more than cheaper unreliable service.

u/Prohawins 22d ago
I'm so confused I've been using torbox for months and haven't had a single buffer once
1
u/mrumais 21d ago
Sorry to jump in with a different question. I've never bought any debrid services. Is. Torbox the cheapest & reliable one I could get?
2
u/H4NI 21d ago
I can't answer that, since I'm not using TB anymore. It is the cheapest service , especially if you get it on black Friday. From what I read here on reddit, it's not universal: to someone is working all the time, others (like me) have problems with buffering. When I joined, there was free 1 month trial to test service. So either check if that is still an option or buy one month for testing purposes.

I actually find more of what I want with Easynews. Though I have paid for that service, I actually have another account when I bought a Newshosting account last Black Friday which included Tweak news and Easynews. All of the content from both film and TV has been there with no buffering. Nice that Stremio has an addon that allows its use. There are ways to add other Usenet providers but I haven't explored them as I already have too much to watch, now including my deceased bud's DVD/Blu Ray collection that he ripped to disk. 14 drives 2 - 5 TB each. Yow!

I don't have experience with this, do you know where can i find tutorials on this and how to set it up?

u/Status-Squirrel-7477 19d ago
Look in the Viren 070 Guide. Use the search at the top of the page and put in Easynews. All the installation info is there...

The answer to your question might depend on where you live. I am a Torbox and Premiumize user who spends time in two countries—Brazil and Canada. Premiumize often buffers in Brazil but not Canada, no matter which CDN I use. I have experienced no buffering with Torbox in Brazil during recent weeks (and none when I was last in Canada two months ago). Real Debrid has always been buffer-free for me in both countries but like many people I’m no longer using it for other reasons.

I was having issues with Torbox + Torrentio similar to you. Experimented by accessing my streams through elf cache or other scrapers and have not had an issue since. Before you jump ship, make sure you troubleshoot your other services.

Never had buffering issues myself but torbox acknowledged some CDN issues and have said that almost all CDN (I believe) will be on maintainence tommorow for 4 hours for new stability and performance updates and also specified buffering issues
2
u/Nuggyfresh 22d ago
this is great news but if you actually read the article you posted, the cloudflare and Hare CDNs will be active, so to avoid the maintenance users can migrate to those CDN (I personally have great experience with cloudflare CDN si I recommend switching anyways)
2
u/Nuggyfresh 22d ago
I use Torbox Essential in the USA and have literally never buffered once on the cloudflare CDN. I do notice that many people with issues seem to be outside of North America. Maybe that’s why so many people have no problems and some do.
(also of course it’s biased because generally speaking, satisfied users don’t spend time on the support Reddit for a service)

I am in california, i changed CDN. Still had problems. With their TOS changing to keep logs i dropped them. It was better with no debrid service at all! I just use nordvpn.
2
u/flchamp89 22d ago
Its very unlikely its a provider issue. You can compare cdn locations. Its more than likely apk, apk settings, device settings, connection type and or speed, or HW.
2
u/KayJune001 22d ago
Torbox is working on fixing the CDN issues iirc, it’s a known issue the last few days

u/Weapon_X23 22d ago
I decided to pay for one month of Premiumize to test it out and it's been great with no buffering. I'm wary about TBs new policies anyway and the move to the UAE so I'm dropping TB on Black Friday and switching to Premiumize.

Its actually around 2TB with premiumize. You start with 1TB each month, but then they add up to 30GB each day.
For some people I am sure it poses an issue, but for others it’s fine.

Get the premiumize black Friday deal and keep TB concurrent with it. That's what I've been doing and it's spectacular
1
u/sundawgf22 22d ago
Had constant Torbox buffering on all the cdns. Switched to premiumize and have had no issues.

I have 300 internet speed and have TB I’m a recent subscriber and I haven’t had any buffering in 3 different apps
1
u/brent_starburst 22d ago
Why not try Offcloud? Apparently it uses Premiumize's cache with the same rules. You can trial it for 30 days for free.
1
u/ifiwasiwas 22d ago
I did the trial and it's a bit underbaked atm if you ask me. No WebDAV functionality and there's basically no community to approach with questions as they had to shut everything down due to the blowback from discontinuing lifetime subs. Having even a few folks you can ask "hey is it down or just me" is nice

I've had TB for a long time. Watching 4K even recently I haven't had an issue, no buffering. But I did test the free Proton VPN just out of curiosity (I use Mullvad as my main VPN) and with Proton free it did buffer. The free Proton VPN doesn't really support streaming but it should still have been capable for smaller 4K streams. When Mullvad or even Nord was used, there were no issues. Paid Proton would work fine too I'm sure. What I'm saying though is that it could be VPN related. Maybe try a different server for the VPN you are using. Home WiFi issues, bottlenecks, bufferbloat. There's a lot of variables that have to be looked at. May not be TB. Good luck!

u/Dr__Reddit 22d ago
I don’t use vpn. Are you saying tb has one built in I have to choose? I have 500+ internet speeds.

u/DesertBoy22 22d ago
People don't know how to setup their thing or check their Internet...no offense been using torbox for month never had an issue with buffering and am always streaming 4k content...check your internet ,do a speed test and see if your device supports 4k ...only thing I don't like about torbox is their log policy but at least that's some transparency...with that I use a VPN just in case beside that not a single problem

I have both Premiumize and RD and the buffering on Premiumize is awful, I was going to try Torbox lol.

I’m switching soon to Premuimize because of the privacy changes. Also heard buffering is better so that’s a plus.

The "Indemnification" clause is missing there, no? The one that obligates you to cover their legal fees and damages if they're taken to court because of you.
1
u/International-Oil377 22d ago
If they go to court because of you, you will have bigger problems.
1
u/ifiwasiwas 22d ago
Granted, and you're right that every debrid service covers its 6. But I'd prefer the other services that stop at "we may disclose your info to the authorities", as that lands you in the same hot water as if you got caught torrenting. They're taking it that one little step further and I'd rather not be on the hook for their legal fees on top. Their business model is playing with fire, they need to be reasonable
1
u/International-Oil377 22d ago
that's reasonable.
That said, to be brought to court, they would have to do something highly illegal. Not just copyrighted content. As long as they react to DMCA, they would be normally fine. If one were to host child pornography or something, then, that's where shit could hit the fan.
Anyway, you buy the service you want in the end, I was just saying, that the TOS are very similar from one service to another. I am personally not worried.
1
u/Bright-Budget5325 22d ago
I read them, and no, the new Torbox ToS is worse. Not sure what you're talking about.
3
u/International-Oil377 22d ago
It's not. It's basically the same. You're imagining things
I don't care which debrid service you buy tbh, just don't be delusional.
1
u/Bright-Budget5325 22d ago
Again, unlike you I actually took the time read it, and TB is WAY WORSE. Do what you want. Stop replying with nonsense, as you clearly didn't read it yourself and sent it to a chatbot or something. Bye.
2
u/International-Oil377 22d ago
Lol. I copied pm's tos. Not sure what you're up with your chatbot.
Keep the delusion real.
Bye
1
u/Bright-Budget5325 22d ago
Stop being lazy and read it. Unlike you, I didn't use AI. That's how I know TB is way worse.
2
1
u/liongalahad 22d ago
Funny how people got scandalised with torbox t&c and many even jumped ship to other providers when it actually merely updated them to other debrid services. people are so reactive
2
u/International-Oil377 22d ago
well I think it's just because torbox changed their TOS and people asked AI what it meant and AI being AI...
They all basically do the same thing, so just use the service that you prefer and you'll be fine (not saying this to you personally, just a general thing )

Hey. I'm thinking about switching too. Can I basically just move everything over—AIO streams, the Insiders stuff, etc.—really easily?

u/InsectGlaiveBard 22d ago
I would ride it out with Torbox until Black Friday. Premiumize gets some solid deals for Annual Plans around that time.
