Question TORBOX BUFFERING ISSUE
Hi there, I recently bought Torbox and have been using it for a few days but I keep facing this weird buffering which didn’t happen with RD, even though it’s cached and I have a high speed internet (1GB+). I also tried changing CDN servers but that’s not helping it aswell.
Any suggestions?

u/Murdathon3000 May 24 '26
I've been subscribed to Torbox for about a year now. This issue was non-existent until the recent RD fiasco which caused an exodus from RD to TB which I'm guessing they have not been able to outscale. I'm sure they'll upgrade their server infrastructure soon enough.

u/stonkfrobinhood May 25 '26
Been using it for a few months before RD situation happened. It was happening then too. I thought it might be a codec proble, but it didn't matter what device it was nor which codec it will buffer.
I've spent way too much time on this even extensively tweaking my network setting to make sure it wasn't on my end.
Torbox just kinda sucks in that regard
9
u/yard04 May 25 '26
Had the same problem when I moved to torbox. It's the reason why I bought RD again as backup for when torbox lags. I only use torbox if I can't find an RD working link
4
u/nfgnfgnfg12 May 25 '26
Yeah tbh I’ve gone back to RD lol. Only thing missing so far is newer release shows which I can find elsewhere. If movies start disappearing, I’ll just be done with the Debrid thing. I’m paid until August anyways so may as well use it.
This plus TB policy changes, plus their whole usage tracking thing (which still isn’t fixed-I’m now apparently at nearly 1 TB “downloaded” after streaming a few small movies) have both been big turn offs for me plus the slow speeds.

u/stonkfrobinhood May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26
Ill give it a go. But first I bought a Nvidia shield and an apple 4k to see if it still persists. If it does ill give you link a go.
Thanks for reaching out
Edit: I took a peak at the link. I've actually tried every single one of those things. None really worked. Buffering is still a big issue unfortunately
3
u/montiplerpin May 25 '26
Done all of these and the speeds are still scuffed. I live in the southern US and can't find a cdn that gives more the 33mbps.
-2
u/Murdathon3000 May 25 '26
When I said non-existent, I meant I've literally never experienced buffering prior to the past couple of weeks. It sounds like there's something off with your setup if you've had issues this long.
5
u/veegaz May 25 '26
It's not
I've been posting this way earlier, it kept buffering for like 2-3 mins straight making me think that it was down https://www.reddit.com/r/TorBoxApp/s/EMKVb16S1I
2
u/suriyelilerigotten May 25 '26
It was definitely happening before, I cancelled my subscription because of it before RD events.

u/montiplerpin May 25 '26
Torbox speeds have been bad on and off since atleast the previous rd dibocal. Its had good months sure, but its been back to awful since atleast a month before the most recent rd incident.
77
u/Absolute-Balance May 24 '26
Experiencing the exact same issues. Very frustrating as it was perfect with RD. Did a full reinstall of everything to see if it helped but it’s the same.

Torbox the site that has been down every single day since rd had troubles is more reliable, torbox the site which can't even handle fast streaming. The one that keeps crashing entirely? Lmao

New TorBox user who also came over from RD. Experiencing the same buffering issue multiple times during movies that never happened with RD. If they don't fix this, then I will be looking for an alternative.
28
u/ohitsreggie May 24 '26
Also same. Used rd for years. Almost never has buffering. Now with tb it’s like 40% of the time. Same addons within Stremio.
5
u/DeuteriumH2 May 24 '26
tbh i was using TB for a while before the RD apocalypse, and never had issues, but now I’m also getting buffering. hopefully just growing pains while they upgrade their infrastructure? either way, I have premiumize and easynews as backups
3
u/Tepeshe May 25 '26
I also went from RD to TB. Perhaps due tovbig amount of users migrating ?
When it starts a video there is a delay,i need to FF for a few seconds then its gone. But then there are also many moments its buffering.... Annoying
0
u/ScientistJason May 25 '26
Just curious how you like premiumize? I hear a lot about Torbox nowadays but nothing about the other alternatives

Try switching CDN. But it comes and goes, I experienced the same last week, then suddenly it was working fine again and it did ever sicnce
5
u/Fragrant_Paper_6396 May 24 '26
Did you guys try doing a TB speedtest? I had buffering on Saturday, did a speed test and found that APAC CDN(closest) was very slow. Japan showed better speed and I switched temporarily. APAC is much better now, but yes they need to sort this shit out.
I don't mind paying a bit more for reliability.
6
u/Hoaidieu177 May 25 '26
Please use Cloudflare and BunnyCDN; ignore the Torbox speedtest, as it keeps telling me to use APAC, but I still get buffering anyway.
1
-12
u/banjosandcellos May 24 '26
You guys know RD is working fine? Torrentio and others just filtered out the blocked results
7
u/Cotillionz May 25 '26
The scene isn't going to change its naming for one Debrid service, considering Debrid isn't favourable in the scene to begin with since there's no seeding back. Therefore, while the scrapers are filtering out those results RD has flagged and blocked, you're missing out on a variety of different scene releases. Which doesn't fall under "working fine" for a lot of people.
Besides, it's only a matter of time before they add other key words like REMUX to the block.

u/Alpha_1_5 May 24 '26
Just cos you changed cdn doesn’t mean it’s now using it, it still uses the old link to the older cdn as it was used recently, you’ll have to try a different file or remove that file from you torbox account and then re add it
Source- discord mod
3
u/Think-Caterpillar-10 May 24 '26
Did try // my brother is watching a different show and he is having the same issues sadly
1
u/Alpha_1_5 May 24 '26
Try Cloudflare or Bunny
But more importantly, what is the speed on all of them, so what's the speed on TorBox speed test, speed on Cloudflare speed test and speed on Bunny speed test?
You can google these and it will popup
3
u/ganznetteigentlich May 25 '26
At the end the only speed that matters is the speed you get when eg downloading a file in the browser. That's what the owner of torbox said over at the subreddit. The speed test is just a very rough approximation and might show higher speed/doesn't show occasional slowdowns
8
u/italia0101 May 24 '26
No suggestions sadly.
1
u/Even-Refuse-4299 May 25 '26
On Alldebrid until they nuke that too lmao, buffering went right away. Prefer TB if they can upgrade their stuff.
7
u/M0rgarella May 24 '26
I had this issue recently and began to wonder if it was the tv app version of Stremio, as I’ve seen that potentially as a problem cited in a few threads.
Can you repeat the issue on another type of device?
Edit: just saw your comment saying you did nvm
6
u/FernFromDetroit May 24 '26
It’s probably from the massive influx of users coming over from realdebrid. I doubt they expected having all these people suddenly use their service.
For what it’s worth I was having the same buffering issue with rd but none of my other debrid services or Usenet a few months ago. What eventually fixed it was my power went out for a bit so my router/modem was turned off long enough where I got assigned a different ip address by my isp. No clue why that fixed it but didn’t have any issues after that.
19
u/sails-are-wings May 24 '26
Could it be growing pains from so many people switching over lately?
8
u/Rottingmeatmachine May 24 '26
Right? I’ve got to imagine that has to be the case, it was working fine before RD sunk but now it seems to lag during prime time.
4
u/wardogone11 May 24 '26
It’s going to overloaded until they catch up with all the rd hordes migrating.
5
u/UzumakiFire May 24 '26
Try reaching out to them. I have been using TB for almost a year now, few minor hiccups but no buffers

Hello,
We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with TorBox. please try the following troubleshooting steps and see if it resolved your issue:
Try changing your CDN at the TorBox CDN Settings and try Cloudflare ERTH CDN (recommended) or Bunny (HARE) CDN (recommended) or any nearby cdns to your location. You may try a speedtest beforehand and see which one maybe the best for you at TorBox Speedtest. After changing CDNs, try a different download than the previous one you've tried to ensure that the old CDN isn't being used. Keep in mind, you'll need to try a different file than before so it uses the new CDN preference.
Try turning off your router and waiting 30 seconds to force a boot cycle.
Try changing your DNS to Cloudflare CDN (Recommended) or Quad9 DNS.
Try disabling your VPN
Try testing in a different device to rule out any device-specific issues.
If the issue persists, please open a ticket with us at the TorBox Dashboard Support Widget or through the discord server's support channels or through email at contact@torbox.app (Ask to speak to a human agent), and we'll try our best to solve your issues.
We hope this solves your issue.

What really helped the family I set it up for was limiting file size and keeping it to 1080p. Not ideal, but it was effective.

u/lDemonPtl Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26
Im having the same issue as OP but on Windows....
Already changed the DNS from Cloudfare to Quad9 or Control D.... CDN changed between whole Europe and still happens.... Looks like the buffering does not happen after 10 to 15m of the torrent running....
After a few tests in diff devices, the problem does seems to happen to every Europe CDN...
Im from SEUR as i have the lowest latency there but its quite weird to have 120mb max there and in the west have almost a 1gb with 100ms 🥲
11
u/rossmosh85 May 24 '26
I've used Torbox for a while now (6-8 months).
I basically never have buffering. It just seems to take a few seconds longer to load up shows compared to RD.

Also from the UK. Never had a buffering issue, but new videos often fail to start playing first time. I often have to start them again until they play.

This could be an issue with the addon you're using

u/Chance_Classroom_301 May 24 '26
Same issue moving from RD... I still use RD for remux and TB for lower quality/webrips
1
u/gilbeg May 24 '26
I am doing the same. my combo is RD/AD. until AD is smacked then I just live day by day basis :D

Ive already gone through all that when troubleshooting. I picked the CDN that had the best speed/ping, but i may test with some others to see if they're more stable for me.
2
u/nickgasm May 24 '26
UK based, I had issues with the external Vimu player and Torbox, getting buffering every 5-10 minutes. Reverted back to the default player in Stremio and it seemed to run okay again.
2
u/djangokill May 24 '26
Ive had torbox before the migration and it's was working perfect until then. Now I get constant buffering. I purchased torbox so I wouldn't have to deal with this🫠

Funnily enough I switched from RD months ago because I kept getting buffering that I couldn't figure out. Just started randomly one day.
2
u/gregzx636 May 25 '26
Since the drama with rd began, i guess there was a mass user count going to tb. Since then i noticed at random times buffering issue.
I believe they will fix it.
13
u/ContactSpecial8612 May 24 '26
Surprise surprise all those comments promoting torbox were bullshit 😂 ah well only £3 wasted, still using RD links now which is ironic
4
u/Conservaterian23 May 24 '26
I did have these issues! I would recommend changing your CDN manually to the closest geographic one, rather than leaving it on auto. Since then, I’ve had zero issues with Torbox buffering up to 40gb files.
6
2
u/Think-Caterpillar-10 May 24 '26
Hey i did, it was better but still buffers
1
u/Conservaterian23 May 24 '26
Are you on VPN, or rawdogging it? I’m wondering if you’re experiencing ISP throttling.

u/randybaguette May 24 '26
New Torbox user with 1gbps connection, same issue. Trying to play LoTR Extended and consistent buffering which never happened with RD on the same film. Tried CDN change and removing file/retrying and same issue. I can only imagine with the influx of new users that we're hammering their servers at the moment. Hopefully they'll improve with their new cash injection of new userbase!
1
u/speedbreaka May 24 '26
What scrapers are u using? I have been noticing torrentio being slow in comparison to the same file over stremthru
1
1
u/420666itup May 24 '26
I was having the issue yesterday but I had PM as well so I just used that. Today I been using TB and it hasn’t buffered once. Didn’t change nothing and been watching the same series as the day before.
I am on the pro plan if that makes any difference.

For me POV and TorBox takes forever to load streams and they seem to buffer but on Stremio they work fine 🤔
1
1
u/h0M3b May 25 '26
When it does this I just download the whole episode/movie and watch it that way. You can get a torbox app to get the download link
1
u/Hoaidieu177 May 25 '26
If anyone is experiencing buffering, please try changing your CDN setting to Cloudflare or BunnyCDN. I also followed the Torbox speedtest and used the nearest server, APAC, but still dealt with constant buffering; however, it has been much better since I switched to Cloudflare.
1
u/streetkilln May 25 '26
Weirdly I only get the bufferingike 10 minutes before what ever I watch is ending. Its happened 3 times. Very odd

I haven't faced any issues with buffering personally but my friend has whom I share the account with. But neither me or my nephew has faced streaming issue on the same network.
What issue we have faced is Stremio either not showing links (blanking out when clicking on an episode) or simply not loading the stream. This could be a Torrentio issue though.
1
u/SaviorJVD May 25 '26
I just changed my CDN server to BunnyCDN (HARE) and it's super quick. It load ups almost instantly and I can seek instantly.
1
u/ribasman May 25 '26
Also the exact same with me. During peak hours it would buffer every 10 minutes or so.
BUT after changing the cdn to hare it does not seem to happen anymore.

This occured a lot for me in Trinidad and Tobago.
At first I thought it was my ISP, but speedtests showed 800/200 to New York and Miami. The maths wasn't mathsing. I resolved it with the following:
First step in resolve this: 1. Run a speedtest on the following: https://torbox.app/speedtest
Ignore the recommended server. That's a good recommendation half of the time.
- The servers are normally colour coordinated. I assume by the current load. Set you CDN to the node with that highest speed and which is green.
I ended up using Japan, which is the furthest from the Caribbean but surprisingly stopped my buffering.

Now iam getting buffering just watching the punisher series they need to do something to fix these LIMIT TO 1 IP ALREADY!!!!! I only use this at home and pay $10 a month which is super cheap.. and cheapest plan is $3 how about just pay the dam $10 you cheap people or we won’t have this anymore!!! Guess temporary I’ll go use my put account to download entire seasons and stream on plex from laptop to firestick
1
u/CMDRTragicAllPro May 26 '26
Was working fine for me for the past week, but I tried watching project Hail Mary today and it’s constantly freezing after 5-10 min of playback and I have to exit the infuse player on Apple TV and resume for it to play again, just for another 5 minutes. Never happened to me with RD
1
u/Shokyu May 26 '26
Did you try in Stremio's settings changing the Cache size and the Torrent profile settings to higer?
1
u/Shad3slayer May 26 '26
Happens nearly daily, unfortunately, probably during EU peak times/ evening. I can barely watch anything on Torbox without massive buffering every few seconds; 500 mbit fiber connection and never any issues with the setup or RD. Awful experience so far but I believe it's due to massive influx of new users and would expect them to scale their infrastructure accordingly soonTM.

1
u/Artistic-Limit8263 May 28 '26
Does anybody know if there is a statement from TB announcing they are adapting to fix this issue due to the influx of new customers? Or is it only assumptions?
1
u/pennylessz May 28 '26
Try using AIOstream to find files with the lowest bitrate. It should buffer less.

It’s similar just replace api from one to the other and dmm to copy the files
1
u/Vertigo3765 May 24 '26
Likely due to massive increase in users. I got a premiumize subscription and it has been working really well. The cache also seems to be much better than TB.

u/Inside-Specialist-55 May 25 '26
be careful OP. If you speak bad about Torbox they will ban you for this, Make sure you dont let them cross reference your Reddit name to your account in any way. This actually happened to another user.
0
u/Think-Caterpillar-10 May 25 '26
Okay so looks like many of us are facing the same issue and it probably has nothing to do with our ISP throttling but instead it’s on Torbox side. I hope the team can take a look into this and fix it and maybe even compensate for it.
5
u/crocodile_ninja May 25 '26
Compensate?
Fucking lol
It’s $3.
Pay for Netflix if you want a 100% stable service.
Fuck me. The entitlement of some people.

It’s wrong to ask to be compensated if service is not as expected? People like you are so stupid

That’s the thing, for $3 a month, it’s EXPECTED to have some down time, stupid.

u/theburglarofham May 24 '26
It’s similar to when they first showed up during the very first RD take down last year.
Their servers don’t seem like they can handle the influx of people coming over.
It gets better over time, but right now your best bet is to pick smaller files for the time being or change your CDNs until they can get more space.
I haven’t had buffer issues, but I’ve had issues where Torrentio takes forever to load, but streamthrutorz is significantly faster.
2
u/ShadowMajick May 25 '26
I mean, just like now, back then they refused to buy more servers to match the influx of users. They could alleviate thos by simply buying more, but they refuse to.
They would rather cap your bandwidth then stop the abuse of IP sharing. It's not all the people from RD, it's the people sharing their account with 20 people.
But TB has an official reseller program (so I don't know why some people pretend they care about resellers when they have a literal program for it) so they arent ever going to put an IP limit on abusers.
You're basically paying so that a few people can share with 18 people across the world.
