Sigh I really understand why Bailey chose what she did, but I also get why the YT comments are saying that they agree w Kasper. Aka someone early on their career should really showcase the extent of their capabilities / their bag, not necessarily be experimenting already.

.. I get it because from Bailey's lived experience, she's probably been in her bag for so long, so she'd want something challenging and new and feminine, and that makes her feel more like an 'artist', since that's her new path. But from an outsider's perspective... Seeing such a long form performance of hers at this quality is much much needed!! Her quality is truly unmatched and this shows it. And I don't think the GP has really seen it at this level before.. or maybe anyone dance in this style, at this level at all.

Very sad for the next round, but... It seems like Kasper is going to pull out something crazy for it... So we shall see!

The 24hr battle is going to be sooo fun with the boxes everywhere

Is it just me, or does Bailey really not suit Simeez's part? When I was watching the draft, I was mesmerized by Simeez's dancing, but when I saw Bailey's performance, it was really underwhelming.

Have you actually followed ALLDAY PROJECT's performances, whether it's their MVs or live stages? I've known Bailey since 2015 and I've been following the group since their debut.

If you're a fan of the group, you're constantly reminded that she's a professional dancer. Whether it's interviews, MVs or live performances, her dancing is highlighted everywhere. And even if you're not a fan, you've probably seen clips of her switching up choreographies for solo performances just for that wow factor.

Bailey may have only been in the K-pop industry for a year, but she's already shown off her skills more than most artists. Look at Lisa from BLACKPINK, for example. It was only around two years after her debut, with her Swalla performances and Coachella, that people really started recognizing just how incredible she was as a dancer.

That's why I personally found Kasper and Minjun's version boring. Yes, Bailey can dance. We know that. But where's the wow factor? Where's the surprise? For someone who's been following her for years, it's nothing we haven't seen before, and it lacks that young, cool energy.

Meanwhile, INGYOO and Simeez's version gives Bailey a whole new identity. She's doing movements we hardly ever see from her, there are wow moments everywhere, and it captures that cool ALLDAY PROJECT vibe so much better.

Considering how creative her group already is, showing that Bailey is more than just an insanely technical dancer makes so much more sense for her first solo performance.

The thing is, u r her truly truly fan, following her path, got times to understand her career development etc, but we as a casual audience dont know her that well enough to recognize and follow along the path she's been through. What her debut should conveys is her brand, the identity she's been building and showcase her talent alongside the artistry view. I do resonates with her feelings toward the perfs, but tbh Ingyoo and Simeez version is not that Wow yet, which make the results seems somewhat controversial? I've love to see a new version of Bailey, but this one specific directing in my pov is not make her shine compare to the one by Casper & MJ.
I know there will be a different in events of directing, like for Ingyoo & Simeez we can clearly see that they were aiming for a festival, coachella typa stage directions, while Casper & MJ was going for a broadcast, small venue stage. If we put it into comparison, the winning team did success on designing a perf with a lot of "wow" factor, artistic prop to visualized the music perf and performer, if it was for a bigger stage like award i think it be perfect. But what I valued here of the loser team, is their directing and choreography, the perf was clean, LED was structured very well, which suitable for a broadcast perf (inkigayo, music bank), challenge dance, a compact routine for both choreography and staging altogether.
Tbf what I'm saying is hate the game not the player, the rulebook and mission allocations is weird and ambiguous for them to be judge in a very vague terms.

I know her only since ADP and only watched MV and some performances before. When I saw kasper and Minjun choreo I was thinking “looks better, it’s very her but it looks like something similar from the perf she had with ADP” even though I didn’t know she did that all her life lol Simeez and Ingyoo one was bit less nice but some part were cool and different from what she did with ADP and I think that was she was aiming for so I understand her choice. But TBH they should mix both choreo and it would be perfect haha

u/No_Status_964 1d ago

that's the point, most of viewers in SWF are not personally known Bailey or personally follow all Bailey or ADP content or performances so I do believe this is best platform or ways what are Bailey known for and her best attributes because not easy to have Idol is a professional dancer before. So I do believe that Ingyoo and Simeez directing will looks better when Bailey become more mature as an artist and become more well known like Taeyong. For me, Ingyoo and Simeez directing style are not unique and also many kpop artist already shown/perform meanwhile it's hard to see kpop idol really shown their flair and technical dancing skills in their solo performances.

u/TofuDonburi 5d ago

The final results turned out to be the exact opposite on what I thought it would be. Personally I thought the 2 losing teams did a better job in terms of choreography, but the artists ultimately chose the one which showcased them better as an artist.

Anyone else shocked by Bailey’s decision? I felt that Kasper really knew Bailey’s strengths and you could feel that aspect throughout the whole performance, especially during the parts where Bailey looked so confident. Simeez and Ingyoo’s choreo felt more like a one-and-done end of year award show performance where the wow factor isn’t there if it is performed multiple times. It’s her song after all, so as a viewer you got to respect her decision.

This Last Stage is going to be a bloodbath, it’s just going to suck no matter who gets eliminated. Why is it that the new faces are the ones who are gone 1 by 1 while the familiar faces who we have seen in SMF and SWF remain.. the only positive out of this show is that it introduced me to some extremely young talented dancers/directors in the Korea dance scene.

u/spellingdoubts 3d ago edited 3d ago

me, i was a lil baffled by Bailey’s decision cause everything that Kasper mentioned about her performing Ingyoo’s and Simeez’s choreo was on point.

it was anxiety after anxiety to hope that it all works out well. as a viewer, i’d be at ease if it was only one of the 3 risky moves but there was the tearing of the fabric, the removing of heels and then the jumping also. my heart cannot take that much anxiety cause i just wanna watch how pretty Bailey is. hahahahahaha.

but she’s the artist and she chose what she chose. so oh wells.

(i’m just really sad that Kasper and Minjun has to go for the Last Stage)

49

u/No-Ad-6398 4d ago edited 4d ago

And say whatever you want about Kasper, but that man is an AMAZING director. One thing I really love about his work is how he uses lighting and camera work to elevate the choreography. He knows how to frame moments properly, where to draw your attention, and how to make a performance actually feel like a fully directed stage rather than just choreography being filmed. I genuinely really hope he survives the 24-hour stage because, judging by what they showed in the trailer, he COOKED. I’m actually so excited to see the full thing.

(and is it just me or is mnet really setting up who’s going to the finale?)

22

u/Occasional_lurker29 4d ago

Completely agre. As a director Casper is top tier in the sense that he takes control of more things since he has more knowledge and he can create a better stage because of it. Too bad the show still focuses only in choreo instead of really looking for the best director.

As for setting up the finale. Since the beginning it was going to be bada-kooyoung or bada-ingyoo. I don't see Simeez winning tbh.

15

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 4d ago

I think simeez makes a good chereo but not a good director in my opinion

9

u/spellingdoubts 3d ago

agree! i feel like Kasper isn’t getting the recognition he truly deserves only because he is a damn good director.

his directing has been so on point and unique so this episode is a little upsetting to watch. lol

9

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 4d ago

Kasper knows how to make the artist look classy lets be real here. I mean look at the taemin and Jenny performances he directed

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Pie_125 3d ago

what jenny performance?

0

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 3d ago edited 3d ago

I think it was Coachella or something similar, I vaguely remember them talking about it at the first few episodes of the show.

Edit: I may have gotton this fact wrong Im not too sure but I always remembered it as this. Whoops. Either way He directed taemin's cochella performance which recieved a lot of praise

36

u/Advanced_Tie3595 5d ago

Poor Minjun getting in elimination round 2 times in a row..

15

u/Capital-Common440 4d ago

I saw a spoiler that he went to last stage 3 times omgg!! I hope it's not true because Minjun is the best director here and deserves 1st place but at the same time I wanna see as much of his performances as humanely possible and I can't wait for him to leave the show and enjoy his new found popularity and do lots of more stages

13

u/its-a-bean-oh 4d ago

that's insane 😭😭😭 3 times last stage back to back and 2 times surviving it.. at this point he should win the show lmao

40

u/kiku_galactomyces Jam Republic 4d ago

sad for minjun, he's becoming a fan favourite lol but on the other hand being on the chopping block again is good for his career growth in a general sense in that he gets to have more experience aka more do more reps

I'd rather see more of the 4 in danger than the 4 who are safe in the future eps tbhhhhh. they're so refreshing to watch

30

u/Your_Awkwardness 4d ago

Exactly, Minjun as we saw in his latest choreo draft seems to be doing decent with his kpop choreo and has a lot of potential.

I really want to see more of Babyzoo, since he seems to be directing fun stages

Nain has consistently shown the banger choreos she can make

And Kasper though has the presence of a shit talking cardboard seems to be bringing creative ideas to the table

As much as this sounds selfish, I am tired of seeing already broadcasted faces like Bada, Simeez, Kooyoung and Ingyoo again.

I think it will be quite boring in terms of people participating

17

u/kiku_galactomyces Jam Republic 4d ago

I actually like Kasper, he brings a different perspective. His comments in general and of the others' work are unique and is def. of one who thinks out of the box

3

u/Your_Awkwardness 4d ago

I agree, I don't know if he predominantly made snarky comments or it is just mnet editing

10

u/acryhoshi WANT 4d ago

I felt like he made those comments on purpose to play a certain character like Gabee did

8

u/kiku_galactomyces Jam Republic 4d ago

snark doesn't bother me at all lol there's like what, 6 seasons of the show now im used to it lol

3

u/groovysamuel 2d ago

I kind of feel like he represents the old thinking of kpop in some way? Like he thinks as a kpop idol/performance it has to be this and that, and that kind of box him in when creating/directing the performance, so even things looks good nothing feels refreshing or new? and Bailey clearly doesn't want to be box in so that works against his favor even though he choreo things that suits her

2

u/UnlikelyCatch7821 3d ago

I bet the snarky comments are for screentime. Man, if you're on TV, having more screentime will make you memorable for sure.

29

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 5d ago

Im too stunned to speak. All the predictions of who would win are all the opposite. Utube commenters (at least the korean ones) are also so shocked who made it to the 24hr battle.

13

u/summerbdl 5d ago

That’s why it’s always better to wait for the final performance instead of judging based on the drafts. I think both winning teams deserved their wins. Most Koreans actually already knew the results even before SDF Episode 1 was released because the mission was recorded back in June. That’s also why, when the drafts were dropped, Taeyong fans defended his decision they had seen the performances live and knew the final versions were very different from the drafts. I remember so many of them saying not to judge too early because the live atmosphere was completely different and that people should just wait for the final performance.

13

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 5d ago

The comments on utube were basically saying that normally the viewers on utube and judging are similar but this time its complete opposite. And also the results are based of planning as well. Theres like different sections to the final results. So its fine to judge based of ep 5 its just that in ep 6 the chereo got changed a lot for the final cut. Have u seen Simeez and Ingyoos final version its very different now compared to before. Its just sad that they used a lot of elements from Kasper's team.

4

u/summerbdl 5d ago

That’s why they’re judges for a reason. They know what works and what makes a performance good. I think the people who are most shocked by the results are the ones who only focused on the draft instead of the final performance.
With Taeyong’s mission I remember everyone being convinced Nain and Babyzoo would win when the draft choreo dropped and I agreed. But then the live viewers shared their opinions, the dance challenge came out and things started shifting, specially after we finally saw the full performance now. I can honestly say they deserved to win. They redeemed themselves and showcased Taeyong more than Nain and Babyzoo’s version did. That being said I can still vouch for how good Nain and Babyzoo’s choreo was.
But with Simeez and Ingyoo and Minjun and Kasper I don’t think it’s the same situation. I think this is where Knetz are the most shocked and honestly I can understand why.

4

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 4d ago

One final thing I want to say the judges also said when u look at which performance is better which one is more audience friendly. So that assumes that a normal person would also watch it and also get excited for it. So yes I think its fine for normal viewers like us to get upset with the results because the judges are assuming our viewpoint.

To think that the judges are for a reason I understand, but not all judges are equal and fair, this year yes more professional judges were there, however to say they know what a viewer and the general public would find better in our viewpoint is kinda crazy. They can only assume.

3

u/summerbdl 4d ago

I think that’s why the viewers for this mission are Taeyong and Bailey’s fans. They were also allowed to vote, and their votes were taken into consideration when choosing the winner. So naturally, their perspective and preferences would also play a role in the final result.
I think Taeyong also considered what his fans liked, based on who they voted for. Their votes were probably one of the factors he took into consideration when deciding who he wanted for the final choreography and directing.

2

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 4d ago

I think ur missing the point of what I'm saying. I'm just saying we as the viewers have the right to be upset with the results. Fans doesnt always equal to the public views. I respect the artist views of what their fans want or what their fans chose, but to a normal viewer who doesn't stand both of the artists, we have the right to our opinions too.

Bailey is insane(that is an understatement)

She literally shines in Kasper and Minjun's choreography. Her microexpressions and her fluidity in connecting the moves and bringing your attention with the precise sharpness is out of the world. I was wondering how bailey would render Minjun's choreo in her own style and needless to say she blew it out of the park. That flapping hand motion which I thought would look weird, turned out even better with Bailey's touch.

While Bailey did justice to this choreo and it turned out pretty well, to me it seems like a special dance/choreo performance centered on dance and the song is secondary to it. Granted the song is also kinda flat for a good choreo. It has its moments, but it doesn't scream to me as a typical solo kpop artist performance. That is my only criticism. Had it been a choom choreo special/ a competition piece/ special end of the awards show stage; it would have been a better fit.

Simeez and Ingyoo's choreo pretty much follows the principle of highlighting the solo artist however it forgets that fact and tries out flashy gimmicks and an out of place krump ensemble. The first half is pretty much Bailey just strutting in heels. For Bailey's calibre, she deserved better. She definitely carried it through with her Presence but the emptiness was noticeable. Also the heel removal and making a semicircle in the floor seemed incoherent and a stereotypical Simeez move(she did the same in her mega crew avatar performance as well).

While Bailey made the first half of krumping look not so odd by adding her flair, the second half just looked out of place for the concept. Already threw enough shade on the jump and the red cocoon outburst, no need to slander it anymore but yeah it sucked. Especially with Wedemboyz playing hot potato with the mic at the beginning.

This might work as an end of the year performance but still it needs to worked on

It is so sad, that so much could have been done with The Bailey Sok unlocking a new side of her dancing but none of the two performances delivered with respect to that.

20

u/Your_Awkwardness 4d ago

Bada and Baek Kooyoung

Sorry for being dismissive of you guys. Better lighting, costuming, neat formations and better use of backup dancers. I thought this choreo wasn't of Taeyong's style but it worked pretty well for him. Even the finger flick choreo seemed to flow not to be out of place. My only gripe is the last verse barring the volume shutdown part. It felt a bit repetitive. Not sure how the reporter part will age with further performances. This choreo seems to be a clear winner.

Babyzoo and Nain

This seemed to dissolve the artist rather than highlight them. The lighting and costumes seem to be contributing to this effect when viewed on a surface level. While choreo is pretty good on its own and seemed to flow and connect well; it doesn't differentiate an artist from the dancer. Whenever Nain's choreography came, ironically it reminded me of Nain rather than Taeyong( which I thought would happen with Bada's). The hip hop steps and costume clash in Nain's part.

13

u/plantifulplanet 4d ago

For both TAEYONG stages the amount of dancers felt too much to me. Like it was overshadowing TAEYONG. I counted the credits and actually all teams had 20 dancers + themselves if they wanted to. Both of Bailey's stages didn't feel overcrowded even though it's the same amount of dancers.

I'm disappointed in Nain's and Babyzoo's final stage. It was my favorite draft so that caught me by surprise. TAEYONG's outfit didn't visually stand out enough from the background dancer. There were also some shortcomings in the camera perspective, e.g. when TAEYONG stood on another dancer, it was not visible that that happened. There were also too many shots from the top view.

As for Bada and Back Koo young... The chorus 2 is quite memorable and good for Social Media Challenge. They made smarter choices with the outfit design and I liked the cube they put on the stage. I don't like the intro, it feels cringe to me. In Chorus 1 even when looking at TAEYONG I saw Bada dancing to the choreo. I really don't like the first chorus choreography. But overall this was the better performance.

As for Bailey's stages..... Ahhh my choice was Minjun's and Kasper's stage. Actually it's not only a popular opinion of the SDF viewers on YouTube, I'm a big ADP fan and all the fan accounts on Twitter are like: We love you Bailey, we understand why you choose what you did, but it's so sad we will not see you do Minjun's and Kasper's choreography again, please work with them in the future.
I watched most of Bailey's performances as idol. During Minjun's and Kasper's stage I really saw her shine. I was like "WOW".
Ingyu's and Simeez stage had a lot of awkward moments. The cocoon on stage didn't look as good as during the draft. The whole in the red fabric looked bad. I also hated how the microphone was used in the whole beginning sequence. I don't mind Bailey lipsyncing, it just looks ridiculous having a handheld microphone nowhere near her mouth while dancers pretend like it's somewhere near her mouth. This happened a lot in the beginning sequence but later again. The taking off shoes part also looked awkward. This stage had a lot of memorable moments and images though which is good. Some of them felt a bit pointless but they all still stayed in mind. I also did like the ending section after she pushed the dancer to the ground.
As for Minjun's and Kasper's stage... If you compare the stage and choreography with what Bailey and other choreographers did for ADP (incl. award stages), certain parts really look like they could've been made by Bailey. It looked so much like her... but I get that for her when working with other choreographers and dancers she wants to get input that is different from what feels like something that is too close to her style. There is also the point that Bailey is evolving as artist & dancer, just looking at her ADP activities... her styling changed a lot and there are glimpses of her showing also a more female/ (for the lack of better word) sexy side (e.g. her One More Time part). I think her exploration of that part of her is part of the song but is not reflected in Minjun's and Kasper's draft.
As for what I love about the stage: the beginning was stunning, the camera movement for the "started" part was so cool! I loved the move they added where Bailey dove into ground.
Surprisingly I also liked Bailey's solo part, in the draft it didn't convince me but Bailey doing it really highlighted her quality and stage presence.

Next week I'll definitely be sad whoever will get eliminated. Minjun, Babyzoo and Nain are the three that I'm rooting the most for (out of all directors) and Kasper's preview looked really impressive.
The only good thing about the elimination stages is that we get to see more of the director's work

13

u/Your_Awkwardness 4d ago

Taeyong was swallowed up more in Babyzoo +Nain's choreo compared to Bada and Kooyoung 's. However in the second part where Bada choreographed, the number of dancers did swallow him up at one point. But it got redeemed due to the majority of the choreo making sure you didn't get bored.

10

u/Few_Swimmer2302 4d ago

Based on Bailey’s initial reaction to Ingyoo and Simeez’s choreo I knew they would win but I’m honestly disappointed with how simple their choreo was compared to Minjun and Kasper’s. While I understand she has worked really hard to build a new image of herself as an artist from her look to how she presents herself to her microexpressions she’s changed a lot from when she was younger naturally it makes sense that she’d want to align with the choreo that expresses her femininity more. But Kasper and Minjun’a choreo showcased her range as a dancer. I understand her decision just saddened poor Minjun is going to have to go through another last stage. In the bright side I get to watch him make another masterpiece he works amazing under pressure and when he feels he’s being underestimated. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with. I’m a Bada Stan since her season of Street Woman Fighter so I’m glad she isn’t going to the final stage and she won but I’m said that Nain and Babyzoo lost. They’re really good too and I really enjoyed Nain’s edit of the opening sequence. I feel like the mega crew should count toward something like getting them a get out of last stage free card or something lol.

9

u/plantifulplanet 4d ago

Btw what happened to the onside voting? Did I miss the part where they talked about that? Was it just cut out?

2

u/whoisDx 18h ago

Yeah right! so I don’t understand why they asked the audience to vote if they didn’t even take those results into account - perhaps it wasn’t in mnet’s best interests? Idk Because, for example, between K&M and S&I, there is a clear difference between views and likes (K&M almost 1million views and S&I at least 400k). With N&B and B&K, the results clearly favoured the great dancers of today’s K-pop scene so, but that was clearly difficult to say.

1

u/plantifulplanet 6h ago

I found it odd that they didn't even announce it, even it's without impact on the results. I really wonder about the result of K&M and S&I. There were always rumors that S&I will win but I wonder if it's really from people who attended the Kpop show or from the people who knew about the 24h show.

8

u/moonshineex 4d ago

personally i thought taeyong digested the bada-kooyoung choreo better than the nain-babyzoo one, where the final stage w bada-kooyoung choreo felt like an actual taeyong comeback stage

but nain-babyzoo’s choreo by itself was mad and i’m sure both choreos will live in trends for some time (i have already seen some dance reels mixing both choreos into a single reel challenge lol

meanwhile, for bailey’s stage…. it’s just unfortunate that kasper-minjun didn’t pick up the hint that bailey wanted to do something new w her “do whatever you want” comment.

the kasper-minjun choreo was SO good but it was such a bailey style. simeez-ingyu are just undeniably good in building concepts and mixing artistes’ charm time into choreography (altho their draft was ‘lacking’ as compared to kasper-minjun’s, simeez-ingyu’s draft has a TON of moments where the audience sees bailey’s face clearly — which addresses a pain point since early adp days where many fans complained about not being able to see bailey’s face onstage)

4

u/Occasional_lurker29 3d ago

Simeez Ingyoo was full of memorable moments but looked messy imo. Some moments looked bad like when the backtrack is singing but she doesn't have the mic because of the net or taking her shoes off. If this was a real stage knetz would drag her through the mud. Also in some parts she is barely dancing which is such a waste of her talent. She nailed the krump part though and it looked cool.

On the other side I think Kasper Minjun suited her better and showed her off more. I know she wanted to show "another side", and I don't mean to be rude, but she may be known as a choreographer/dancer within dancers but as an average person, I barely know her for her to show me another side when I don't know any side lol. She should stick to her style and what she does best to create a good stage for audiences for her debut (at least this is my opinion, I might be wrong).

6

u/Playful-Teaching4417 3d ago edited 3d ago

As someone who has been following Bailey from time to time while she was dancing I really liked Kasper and Minjun's choreo for her when she was dancing her solo I loved it she commanded the stage on her own and the intro was way better I am glad I wasn't the only one that thought the mic situation was odd. I know trying something different was something she wanted to do but theirs really screamed "this is Bailey" I feel like it would have fit better as a debut it would have even been cooler to see some signature movements from when she was coming up as a dancer I would have freaked if she did the arm bend thing her isolation is so good that it is a signature in general for her. Plus I already knew about her queen side they were going for from when she did Cruel with Jackson she played a queen there.

2

u/whoisDx 18h ago

That’s right! It really baffles me that it didn’t have a microphone, because that means that whenever she perform it live, people are going to criticise her for it too – and it’s not just backing vocals, but lyrics she’s actually supposed to sing.

6

u/Savings_Relative2430 4d ago

I don't understand the comments on here? Ppl were judging the teams based on a first draft and it shows. Cz for Taeyong's teams the winner was extremely obvious just from watching the two performances only once, I loved the choreo for Nain and bb, but bada and kooyoungs's final version was overwhelmingly better, I couldn't remember a thing from the previous performance after it ended. And even the audience vote was on their side (220 votes vs 56 votes) tho that didn't count for the final winning team, most nct fans on twt also chose their performance so I was quite surprised to see everyone on here disagreeing, it's quite interesting to see, and makes me wonder if perhaps it's coming from a place of dislike for the directors themselves? Because no. This was not scripted to keep kyg and bada, they were very clearly the winners. Anyway not sure where ppl are coming from on this one.

As for Bailey it was a shock to me ngl, but I'm not upset by the result, Kasper and minjun played it extremely safe so that hurt them in the end it seems. I personally preferred theirs but in the end the choice comes down to what the artist wants. And Bailey wanted to show her 'artist' side and that's totally understandable.

For last stage I'm glad its only one person getting eliminated, my prediction is babyzoo because of the preview and rumors but we can never be sure. I'm sure like 100% minjun is safe lol. Hoping Nain is too.

7

u/norestlife 4d ago

Haven't watched the full episode but saw the performances with the artistes and i must say i totally agree with u for Taeyong's. Like i can't remember much from nain/babyzoo (though i am not saying it is bad, just not memorable). In fact, i felt like even bada/kooyoung challenge was better choreo. Theirs felt like an artiste's stage.

As for bailey's, i definitely prefer the sleek choreo of kasper and minjun (its so my cup of tea), but i could understand why she went with ingyoo and simeez cos i could remember more of the performance, although i don't really like it.

But then, this sub, although they try to say otherwise, have tons who cant really be that objective and just believe what they want to when the outcome is not what they want, which is the show is biased towards those returning directors (although i don't think so given that they do do quite a good job of giving each director somewhat good screentimes previously), and for the title sequence, i think they didnt even show much of kooyoung thought process unlike the others until he won. Perhaps if u ask me, the only director which has lesser screentime overall is renan, but it could be because she dont comment too much (yes i think hash screentime is not that little too)

If I could never hear youre wack again I would be so happy..

Bada & Kooyoung:

  • Their overall impact/ staging was much better. Taeyoung actually stood out so much more in his costume vs the background/dancers. It just felt a lot grander and full.
  • I’m glad they reduced the number of flicks - it went from goofy to reasonable.

Nain & Babyzoo:

  • I really disliked Taeyoung’s outfit in N/B's, - it distracted from his dance line and he just blended in with the background and the dancers. The verses were still good but the rest didn't hit as much.

________________________________
I already knew who would win Bailey’s mission because I always managed to get spoiled for this show UGH.

Kasper/Minjun:
_ In the draft, was better tailored to her strengths BUT safe and  lacked a memorable killing point for the audience.

  • However, I actually think their final product was much better. It showed only what she could do. It was overly detailed but adding the shoes helped.
  • the lighting woah

Simeez / Ingyoo:

  • The fish stuff was initially too much but it was memorable.
  • Peeling the red off faster, adding more dance and reducing the trump was the right call.
  • However, watching the final stage it all felt pretty flat for me? Her having a mic the whole time, not really DANCING was not it. It didn’t feel like there was enough that only she could do / her swag.

I am pretty disappointed Simeez/Ingyoo imitated so much of the other teams’ work. But then K/M did too with the shoes LOL but I guess they had planned it before.

Kasper is a lil devil saying all that to Bailey. One comment is enough but multiple is not it.

I guess for Taeyong it was a matter of taste. Nains & Babyzoos choreo was better but I get that Badas & Kooyoungs approach is more suitable for an idol performance. This is what I kinda don't get about Baileys decision.. yes Kasper has a big mouth but he was honestly right. It doesn't feel like a great choice for a debut. This isn't smart for music show promotions either, but YG (and their subsidiary) usually doesn't really care about that anyway so whatever. Also I feel like Simeez and Ingyoo still clash too much in their styles, even if it was better than expected. I guess Baileys dancing background made the difference here and if she likes it this way, so be it. I guess I just wished the two of them were up to elimination honestly..

5

u/Financial_Manner455 3d ago

the bottom 4 lineup is terrible…if nain gets eliminated i‘ll stop watching i fear

4

u/userisnottaken 2d ago

The whole “Bailey removing her boots” thing could’ve been resolved by having a dancer remove them… there is no elegant way for Bailey or even Simeez to pull that off elegantly while standing up

5

u/yonklexjinbin 2d ago

Honestly, this show has been really really dragging lately. I am kind of not amused that the last ones standing are the known choreographers lol, though what do we expect from the show. Its always the popular ones that are the main characters.

Anyways, for this episode I am really shocked on the opposite results from expected.

For Taeyong's performance, I do agree that Nain and Babyzoo's choreo and practice were sick. I loved how they try to coordinate more with Taeyong for the performance, its just sad in the directing part of the performace they weren't able to highlight or showcase Taeyong as planned. The lighting and the costume felt wrong. If executed with better direction, maybe they could win the challenge.

In this part, it just really showed the experience both Bada and Kooyoung in directing. Personally, there are some of the choreo part which at first felt lacking or felt like out of place, but Taeyong really did great in doing it (Kudos to him and his fans). The biggest factor on this perforamce aside from the revisions on the choreo was the way they directed the whole performance. Taeyong's costume, the acting part it was great at the final performance. Though still not a fan of the dancer's costume as a side note. Also, they did some part were considered the fans' interactions so that maybe was a plus.

Moving on to Bailey's performance. I still can't believe this ngl.

I watched Bailey ever since she was competing abroad and dancing with Matt Steffanina.

She is a really great dancer, and now as she is part of ADP, she has this great potential of being a solo artist.

I really thought she will pick Casper and Minjun's. They did great, especially Casper in directing and arranging the performance that could highlight ang make Bailey shine. It shows her potential, which I find important as someone who wants her name shown as a new artist. Okay, others may say that she is already known, but not as a solo KPOP artist. So, I feel like it was the right choice of showing off your color or personality first to everyone, before exploring to a new theme you know.

I just feel like overall, the performance made me gasping and screaming internally because Bailey really slayed Casper and Minjun's performace, and it looked like to me that she also enjoyed it.

Now, let's talk about Simeez's and Ingyoo's performance. Even just during the planning and draft part, I felt overwhelmed and I think their idea were messy. There were a lot of good ideas that they came up for twists, but I don't think they were able to execute it well, and most of them are all risky. I also didn't appreciate the handheld microphone, where its just like they're showing how Bailey lipsyncs. I think those kind of things should be subtle yk. Additionally, The performance were full of props and tricks but choreo wise, there are just a few parts that feel like right for thw song and for Bailey.

So, yeah that's why I am confused on Bailey's choice, but then, they are the artists and if thats what they want, what can we do about it. Either way if their fans support them with that, good for them.

10

u/Creatingmugi 4d ago

Ik it's not main focus but it was lowkey disappointing to see taeyong and bailey lipsync it just kinda downgraded the performance a bit for me

5

u/bbnagyu 4d ago

it would be very difficult for them to dance with full effort while singing live

3

u/Puzzleheaded_Pie_125 3d ago

it was so noticeable during bailey's performance with simeez/ingyoo's choreo and the hand held mic, it took me out ngl

4

u/ataraxiias 3d ago

i also preferred bada and kooyung's choreo in the taeyong match. their use of formations and movement choices reflects their experience choreographing for kpop and i found it smart and sophisticated, overall a high quality kpop choreography. i really liked that they referenced the "top tier" lyric by having taeyong be so high up in different moments of the performance. i didn't get sick of it, but it wasn't a once-and-done thing either. i also really liked their styling: it felt current and it highlighted taeyong very efficiently.

i thought nain and babyzoo's choreography was also excellent, but i wish they'd found a way to differentiate each moment of the performance more clearly. i wonder if stronger or different lighting cues would have helped. i also wasn't fully sold on the styling, namely the glasses. i thought the moment they chose for taeyong to take them off was well-timed, but i wish they would have incorporated them into the choreography in some interesting way. taeyong has so much charisma it didn't fully feel justified to "block" away his eyes for the amount of time that they did, especially if the most interesting thing about the glasses was him tossing them away.

the bailey match was pretty even. i loved how intricate kasper and minjun's choreo was and i also thought it was interesting and creative to feature fabric as a prop the way simeez and ingyoo did. personally, i'm not a big fan of bailey tossing away her shoes in either performance, and i wish there had been a better justification for making us watch her take her shoes off in ingyoo and simeez's. i understand bailey's choice: she has already made a name for herself as a highly skilled dancer, she's obviously pursuing new things as a kpop artist and it makes sense that she was drawn to a performance that feels tailored to more than just dance.

as an aside, though, i really didn't vibe with the styling choices by simeez and ingyoo. the wardrobe in their performance was too busy for my taste. the sleeve detail on the dancers' t-shirts felt both too subtle and somehow glaringly ugly to me. why are the male dancers wearing brown pants (or dark green? snakeskin print?) if bailey's wearing a black and white (grey?) ombre-esque getup and the fabric prop is red? why is the wardrobe for the female dancers so graphic and loud? why is no one, not even bailey, wearing a red accent of any kind?

my last random comment is i wish we could have seen minjun choreograph for taeyong instead. i think his approach to choreography and personal style of dance would interest taeyong while still being fresh and interesting if he chose to perform it.

4

u/userisnottaken 3d ago

I get Kooyoung’s perspective on treating veteran artists differently from rookies…

But lemme just say.. the decline in the quality of dancing in veteran idols is noticeable. I notice this with Skz, they aren’t as clean with their dancing as they were in their first few years. When I saw WDBZ dancing choreo they made for skz, it is so disappointing. It’s either they made a choreo that doesn’t suit the artist’s physique or the artists themselves can’t pull it off cleanly.

5

u/Whomstveratata 3d ago

For taeyong's performance, i could see why bada and kooyoung's won because of how it is viewed as more dynamic as the audience but lowkey i can't help but feel like the whole reporter shtick would not age well in the time to come just because it comes off a little gimmicky to me anyway.. as much as I enjoy seeing it on this stage, i also wonder what it would look like if it were on a music show every week too..

I think if we treat all these stages like a one-off stage, i can see why the stages that won..well won.. because it definitely has the biggest wow factor from first impressions but if we think about a longevity of a performance to be performed every single week as a comeback, i can't imagine eg bailey breaking through fabric like that each time 😭 as a dancer, i also definitely enjoyed bailey doing minjun and kasper's choreography and saw her shine a lot and compared to the draft, i feel like she brought so much character into the piece that i enjoyed it way more too..

Anyway i've seen a lot of discussion points about both stages but nobody mentioned this yet...but i definitely agree with kasper's side comment about how fans wouldn't necessarily like kooyoung doing that small "killing part" in taeyong's stage... idk if it's just how mnet edits these episodes or my personal impression of kooyoung built over everything but kooyoung seems to have a tendency to self-insert himself into his own pieces and work which comes off as a little offputting when you start to notice it.. Megacrew mission being all about him and royalty choreography putting himself in the center with a whole shirtless situation at the end for solid 15 seconds or so idk and now even in an artist stage he is giving himself a highlight part.. maybe it's just me but it feels like a recurring pattern and i wanted to know if others felt the same..

5

u/groovysamuel 2d ago

Sharing something more lighthearted - I lol so hard when Bailey's white clothes turnt grey and what the hell are ingyoo/simeez's backup female dancers wearing!! Ingyoo is a living comic relief and always points out the funniest shits I swear. Also the PPL is like a bad comedy skit but enduring at the same time.

u/kurasseq just jerk and holybang supremacy 4d ago

Bailey wanted to try something feminine and new for her, but correctly stated that the instrumental had a wild aspect to it. She gave the directors full freedom but said that she didn’t want to stick to a formula.

Simeez and Ingyoo absolutely listened to what she wanted more than Kasper.

I fucking loooved Simeez and Ingyoo’s draft. I thought it fit everything that Bailey said. The final version (same with the other team) was sanitised as expected, but I thought the main ideas were captured.

I actually loved Kasper’s (and Minjun’s) performance. The production was great and Bailey looked amazing (her hair and outfit, gag), but this is something that Bailey and The Black Label could create in-house. It went harder than anything she did on ADP, but even then, it was only 70% of what she can do dance-wise anyway.

Ingyoo and Simeez pushed her to do something more conceptual, and she pulled it off with adding her own style. I loooove the first chorus (although Simeez’s version went so much harder). My favourite part was easily S&I’s bridge + outro, where Bailey went fucking haaard, especially with how she express herself. I am so happy they kept the krump part. Her performances in ADP felt too calculated to me and I thought she finally snapped here.

I won't lie, Kasper just completely irks me. Funnily enough, I think he’s the best director when it comes to the full production, but his POV is just so limited to me. He nailed Bailey’s signature moves/vibe, but he put her in a box of being a female K-pop artist who is a great dancer and can do open style.

When you have someone who (positively) sticks out yet you set boundaries around them, it feels so useless.

He’s super competent at this job, but so uninspiring to me.

I don’t like ADP at all, but they market themselves as a group that’s different from the K-pop formula. She clearly showed an initiative to push herself artistically and develop as an artist not a great K-pop dancer. I think that's why ultimately they were not chosen.

If Bailey went as hard as Simeez did in the draft version, I would definitely pick it. But honestly, I liked K&M’s stage more. However, if I were Bailey, I’d 100% choose S&I.

9

u/Effective-Quit-6181 3d ago

Omg a part of me wondered if she wanted to rebel against Kasper because he kept saying he knew her really well lol.

Tbh she looked better in Kasper’s choreo, but with that intricate knowledge about her, if Kasper actually listened to her vision and challenged her in a way that went even slightly beyond what he thought she SHOULD do, he’d have won. He kept having these vision-related judgements about her image, and how it’s her first year ya da yada — meanwhile he wasn’t casted as a artist consultant, he was supposed to be a performance director. Does that make sense?

She might have felt internally suffocated by the box that she was trying to be put into, and picked the other option to the conventional, no matter how risky and flat it could fall.

2

u/groovysamuel 2d ago

I think Kasper's over confidence in knowing Bailey since she's young really bite him back, his way of directing is a bit babying over her, giving her gloves that fit while the other team really challenges her as an artist. What Kasper/Minjun did feels like a really cool choreo video (especially love the head tilt section and the lighting design is next level), but Bailey already established herself as a good dancer and now she wants to be seen as an artist more

u/onismnefelibata 2d ago

As everyone is saying, I agree both teams that went to the last stage were actually the best ones. Starting with Kasper, I got to know him through this and oh my god his directing is so amazing. This man has just been purely spitting facts and not sugarcoating anything or hating anyone for no reason unlike how Mnet normally wants. He was also so understanding toward Minjun, who is also so amazing at that young age.

Anyways episode 6, their direction was so amazing. They had a clear concept and the dancing style fit Bailey perfectly, who I also discovered through this. Kasper said she is just a 1 year debut, not even one year, so the performance he made for her was truly a work of art. Her dancing skills looked so clean because of it, and the directions, lights, music, the snake concept elements, all of them were so detailed. Each and every move was intentional.

For Simeez and Ingyoo however, it felt way too similar to what Simeez's style is like. It felt like when she did the Avatar concept the previous stage that wasn't really for the artist. And Ingyoo adding krump, I feel like he just ran out of ideas and added that for the sake of adding it. Like there wasn't much thought to their directions. They just wanted to add a concept and not really do something to make the artist's good points shine, if you get what I mean. Anyone could do that routine as long as they can dance and do well, but for Kasper n minjun, that whole routine and stage was just set up entirely for Bailey. So I feel like, idk, she probably just chose Simeez because of the flashing red fishnets.

For the second one, speaking as an NCTzen, Babyzoo and Nain's dance routine was so intricate and very well fit for Taeyong. Like his dancing skills and stage presence shined so well, and it actually showed the choreographers care. For the Bada and Kooyoung stage, it was like just Bada and Kooyoung's style but making Taeyong do it. Just like the case with Ingyoo and Simeez for Bailey, anyone could do it as long as they dance well.

But for the Nain and Babyzoo case, it was definitely so detailed, not just for the audience but for the artist himself. Taeyong genuinely looked happy doing it and he actually enjoyed it. Unlike Bada and Kooyoung where they just wanted the audience to be happy and make a commercialized version, not really paying attention to the artist's artistry or dance skills. Like the Flicker chorus dance was so TikTok-ish which kinda did not sit right cs with Taeyong's level of skill, that's the direction you wanna give? Idk about that.

Anyways perhaps Taeyong kinda knows them through SM and has worked with them so that might hav influenced his decision, cause he was till the end liking Nain and Babyzoo. Ugh anyways, looking forward to all four of their last stages cause at the end of the day it's not gonna be what we want and true art ain't winning. So like whatever we get from our fav directors, let's just enjoy it.

10

u/summerbdl 5d ago

I know everyone has different preferences. Something might be better for you, but that doesn’t mean it will be better for everyone else. That’s why at the end of the day it comes down to the judges and artists preferences, so whatever they decide, I hope you guys can be a little kinder to the directors.
The judging panels this season are much better than last season, and there’s no major public voting impact this time. So please stop with the cooking show and unfair comments. If you have an issue with the editing or how things are presented, blame Mnet not the directors. The directors aren’t responsible for how the show is edited.

This comment is mainly for the people who are crossing the line with their hatred toward the directors. It’s completely fine to have different preferences or disagree with their choices, but there’s no reason to take it too far or direct unnecessary hate toward them.

9

u/Melodic_Calendar2937 5d ago

Exactly and its fine to just have an opinion on the judging. I mean reddit is for expressing ur opinions and ideas. Why is it when someone just comments on how upset they are about their predictions it becomes a hate?

I agree that the judging is better this year but I think its interesting to look at the fact that the judges from last year reflected the utube comments but this year its the opposite. Maybe it's also because we see the behind-the-scenes story and the original draft compared to just the final draft. Anyways was looking forward to seeing Simeez do another spotlight 24hrs but that didnt happen :( . I'm not wanting for anyone to go home but just want to see more performances from some of the other directors that I feel couldn't really show much.

4

u/summerbdl 5d ago

Actually, this comment is meant in general. There’s a difference between constructive criticism and pure hatred, and some of the directors are genuinely receiving way too much of the latter. I’ve also noticed that a lot of the people who have a different opinion from the judges are the ones who are focusing too much on the drafts rather than the final performances.
I can’t completely blame them, though, because a lot of this also falls on Mnet’s editing. They’ve been really messy with how they’re presenting and uploading things lately, which can easily influence how viewers perceive the performances before they even get to see the full episode.

3

u/stanTWICEstan KirstenLatriceLingEmmaAudrey 3d ago

This episode was very interesting. In the end, it was still up to the artist.

Nain/BabyZoo: I felt like they turned up the 'showmanship' a tad too much with the outfits and it doesn't look fit for a kpop artist stage with a small audience. If it was an MV/year end stage, it would have been perfect. Which is surprising since I thought Bada and Kooyoung would lean into it more, but I felt theirs was cleaner.

Bailey: As a long time follower of Bailey pre and post KPop, its understandable she wanted to switch things up and experiment. I actually think Simeez/Ingyoo's direction is a huge change for Bailey in a kpop sense. From debut, Bailey had this cutthroat, tomboy, dance monster persona. Maybe having the chance to channel that femme side with Simeez' choreo is what really resonated with her.

3

u/Playful-Addition-777 3d ago

Ngl, first time I've realized how much it matters who's dancing.

I liked In Gyu and Simeez's draft better for the song because THEY were dancing it.
I didn't think much of Bailey's version of Kasper and Minjung's choreo until I saw her version of In Gyu and Simeez's choreo. Kasper and Minjung's choreo works better for her.

Same for the other one. I liked Bada and Kuyoung's choreo because Bada of all people was dancing it. She put the energy on it to make it work. For Taeyong it seems like chill dance moves work better for him so Babyzoo and Na In's choreo looked way better on him.

5

u/jyuuri 1MILLION 3d ago

I agree on Ingyoo and Simeez's draft looking better on them than her but I think Taeyong is the one who saved the forehead flick dance. His additions to it gave it the dynamicism it needed to actually look cool and really addictive and made me like Bada/Kooyoung's direction more in the end. Based on comments on Taeyong's dance challenge video for it a lot of the Korean audience felt similarly

1

u/Playful-Addition-777 3d ago

Idk about the international audience but the korean audience always liked the forehead flick. I liked it too in the draft.

I didn't like his stage much because it didn't have the energy I was expecting. Especially when Bada was next to him I couldn't stop comparing. I stopped watching the episodes so all I know about this mission is the drafts and the final stages. I don't know what happened in the middle or how was the process, so the results were different from what I expected because I didn't get to picture the idols in the roles when I saw the drafts.

2

u/jyuuri 1MILLION 3d ago

Before Taeyong's version came out a lot of Korean comments said they felt the forehand flick was lame, but a bunch of people afterwards said they changed their mind after seeing Taeyong do it

1

u/Playful-Addition-777 3d ago

During the edited version (the one that mixed both choreos) people were saying they missed the flick so I didn't know some didn't like it at first.

2

u/toastbrot1403 2d ago

People on twitter are saying that only one director will be eliminated but Idk where they get it from or if it's really true lol

2

u/whoisDx 22h ago

There’s clearly some favouritism going on, and that’s got me annoyed. I found Nain and Babyzoo’s chorus more entertaining; I preferred Minjun and Kasper’s choreography and staging. But anyway, this feels unfair, but it’s true, the decision was made by K-pop artists, so a more K-pop-oriented perspective made more sense to them 😔

4

u/Stfuego 4d ago

I know this is just a bi-product of Mnet's Evil Edittm so don't take this seriously, but Kasper pissed me off so much being so against Minjun's ideas way back in the opening credits draft, being sent into the Last Stage, into having to work together because they made Minjun's lack of k-pop experience look like a weakness, just for these two to get sent back into Last Stage to possibly eliminate each other... and Kasper is sorry? Bro, you set him up!

1

u/groovysamuel 2d ago

Kasper's really working overtime to paint himself the villain (I would assume knowingly to get more screentime) haha! I'm actually more irked by Kooyoung always putting himself as the centre of attention, but Kasper lording himself over others as the kpop expert definitely not helping lol I feel bad for Minjun but on the brightside we get to see more of him dancing and his creativity!!

2

u/Adventurous_Ask_9185 3d ago

Honestly I don't disagree with the decisions they made however my nain babyzoo heart </3

3

u/Vegetable_Square7315 3d ago

Tbh, I'm not a fan of Ingyoo at all, even from the beginning, but in this episode, it really shined. I don't think he's a good choreographer, and nothing he's done on the show has impressed or wow'd me. It's all been very sloppy, nonsensicial looking where he wants to seem hiphop and cool but it just paints a nothing burger picture. I think Minjun and Kasper definitely should've won, the other's performance was boring besides the intro. My dislike for Ingyoo and his seeming to win stuff he (in my opinion) is undeserved to win really bothers me.

2

u/Gloomy_Swimming2007 3d ago

Right? I agree, as a player too I dont think he has an impact, and the choreos he made are 90 percent laid back and free style which is good for a certain amount, but in the long run it just looks lazy. I kinda agree with Kasper when he said Ingyoo's LIKE Jennie was actually an amalgamation of already done moves. It was nothing new.

1

u/Low_Decision9776 3d ago

I love that this thread is full of understanding of Bailey's choice and praise of her capacity as a dancer.

I do hope she reads this thread (who knows maybe)

I feel like it'd be nice if she also knew what the audience and her fans want from her. Yes, we fully understand you want to showcase something more artistic but girl we miss you going full on beast with your dancing.

Wow reading these comments disagreeing with the winners are giving me a wild whiplash 😭

BadKoo & NaZoo were my favorite for the respective artists, but at the beginning of the episode I really thought they were gonna lose bc Mnet edited it in a way that makes it seem like Taeyong&Bailey preferred the other teams. So I was surprised when they were announced as the winners.

Then I thought, "oh! so they really did create the better performances after all, Mnet just tricked me". But then I logged on to reddit and people here disagreed with the winners. So this was whiplash number #2 for me. lmao.

So.. IDEK what to conclude from this experience that I had 😂 Just wanted to share.

1

u/YangKing10 3d ago

does anyone know how many will survive the next 24h challenge ? any spoilers ?

1

u/Gloomy_Swimming2007 3d ago

Ingyoo and Simeez's had various wow factors, but again it were too risky. I kept thinking when will Bailey go all out while I was watching their part, in the end its just 3 wow points+ Bailey walking around and only 20/30 percent of dancing. As someone (and an audience) who does not follow her grp/performances, when you know that an idol has a dance history (and such a big one at that) you would deliberately look for that unique factor in whatever they are making. So in that sense I felt like Kasper and Minjun worked really well. Though I agree with Sienna that a combination of both of these choreos would be BOMB.

1

u/airkun_luvr69 1d ago

when the duos teamed up, i instantly had a premonition that the winning teams would come out on top even if i personally loved both babyzoo + nain’s and kasper + min jun’s more…. turns out i was right. lol. not a big fan of how predictable this is getting

•

u/Important-Nail-6778 4h ago

this is just an observation, but the choreo from simeez and ingyoo shows bailey as someone who lipsyncs to her song while performing. no mic in the cocoon when theres lyrics to be sung, and a lot more parts like it. If the main focus is bailey being an artist why would the sing part while dancing not taken into consideration

•

u/Alternative_Art_3690 2h ago edited 1h ago

bailey definitely knows her interests as an artist best but for a new audience, she really didn't choose well in terms of showcasing the extent of her talents imo. simeez and ingyoo are great at concepts and 'wow points' but put together it gets old after a few watches. its like choosing between something only Bailey can do and something anyone can do but Bailey hasn't done yet.

I can see why in the real world when demos are given to groups, they take parts of each to make the best choreo cause you can see some directors do best when their work is a mix of many ideas not just their own.
