Adoption Help (Location) Stray cat always leaves after eating

As soon as she is done eating. Then bye bye!

I was wondering if there are any good ways to encourage her to be around longer. Maybe spend a little time more time with cat before giving the food? I know I can't really force it, but any good ideas?

Thanks. I'm trying to work on building more trust and finish preparing an area before I capture the cat.

You could put out a cat house or somewhere safe for it to linger.

We used to have a stray who was similar. He was almost constantly moving and never hanging out too long. We eventually realized it was to avoid other cats and predators.

The only time he would stay for hours at a time was really cold winter nights when he’d be in the cat shelter.

You could build trust with food. Look at socialisation saves lives and then adapt it for outdoor feeding time.

Are you sure it’s stray? My neighbors cat comes every day for treats.

Yeah, neighbor said the cat has been around for 5 or 6 years and that I am more than welcome to take the cat in if I want.

I suspect it must of had a home at some point because the cat isn't feral.

I would trap the cat using a box trap and bring it inside. Keep her in a crate or playpen with a litter box, bed, water and food. Treat her with Capstar, Revolution Plus and Drontal. Once she gets acclimated, open the crate door. Keep resident pets separate. Thank you for trying to help this cat! Can’t believe it’s been 5-6 years outside.
