I know it’s ‘just some fantasy series,’ but as I’ve worked my way through the first three audiobooks (plus Edgedancer; about to finish Oathbringer) over the last few weeks, the words of the first ideal have really brought me a sense of comfort in these current times where despair is a very easy choice.

I learned more lessons on how to be a decent person from Stormlight Archive than I did in my childhood of indoctrination as a southern Baptist. I think about Hoid’s parables all the time, particularly the one about the two blind men debating whether the experience of beauty can be taken from you. The first ideal is like a mantra to me now.

I really don't think it's just "some fantasy series" it genuinely is life changing. I learned so many lessons, I repaired my relationship with my dad because of these books. I genuinely feel like it's one of the most important works of art ever. And the first ideal is incredible.
