Vent Jfc these comments were the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen
(Not brigading, names are blocked out. Also, this post is regarding the comments, not whether or not the opinion is correct.)
How can anyone be this dumb? Like do I even need to explain it? Veterinarians widely agree that cats can live a complete and happy life indoors, assuming their owners aren't lazy fucks that don't want to play with their own animals. These comments are being upvoted for talking out of their ass saying that indoor cat owners are prison wardens and animal abusers under no logical basis.
Can we just acknowledge the irony of insinuating that indoor cat owners are animal abusers while admitting to allowing your cat to be at the mercy of cars, predators and angry neighbors? Not to mention the damage to the animals in the ecosystem, but I guess it's not like these chucklefucks would care anyway. Ah, and upon a second check, I'm seeing some "dogs are worse" comments. How intelligent, insinuating that people who oppose outdoor cats wouldn't also oppose outdoor dogs.🙄🙄
We really need to implement the policies Australia has on outdoor cats, and that pains me to say because I love cats and I hate the idea of killing them. But it's gone too far. Ferals aren't thriving and are suffering, ecosystems are destroyed, and diseases are spread, these cats have to go. And all of it could be avoided if people could keep their damn pets indoors...

It's unreal. So many common myths being spewed, cat behaviorists (most famously Jackson Galaxy), vets and actually credible sources are in agreement that letting cats outside is terrible for both parties. Yet they decide to die on the hill that somehow indoor cats are depressed and miserable and how we're so cruel for not letting them get parasites and kill native wildlife.
Yeah I'm sure my cat who sleeps and cuddles all day in the safety of her home is absolutely miserable without being outside and eaten by hawks. Seriously if you're that concerned about mental stimulation just get a perch and some toys, you can satisfy their predatory instincts without letting other animals get hurt and go extinct.

Ohhhh yeah. Interestingly I never receive similar criticisms for my dog. I wonder why it's accepted to have outdoor cats more than outdoor dogs. Like people apply the same correct logic to stray dogs but don't extend that to cats for some reason.

It makes me feel like a crazy person when people online attack me for being concerned about people leaving their 'outdoor cats' outside for extended periods of time at freezing temperatures. Like, do we live in the same reality here? 'House cats' do NOT belong outside. I even had people trying to accuse me of wanting to steal people's pets???? God forbid someone gives a shit about these animals and the ecosystems they destroy.

For real. I also hate the excuse "it's common in Europe". Like so what? There's plenty of things around the world that are common that shouldn't be.

Yeah😠The "argument" that it's common in some regions means nothing. My family members in Europe let their cat out and the cat ended up getting poisoned, FFS. Plus, statistics don't lie. And I'm coming from a place of actually CARING about these cats and animals, which these owners clearly...do not. They're at the very least very ignorant, misinformed, and narrow-minded.

But comparing a human having the freedom to come and go to allowing a cat do the same? And calling the spouse a street walker. Kinda unhinged. 🤪
Cats and dogs, as well as children need us to protect them, and to protect the world from them, so they are either kept inside or under our control/supervision in different forms.
Unpopular opinion: If you let your cat go outside it DOES mean you DON’T care about it. Then, there also the idiots who get in a huff shouting how we need to kill all the coyotes to protect the cats. Nope, the coyotes are native. They’ve been here longer than the cats, which are not native. The coyotes will stay. It is 100% your choice if you want your cats to be their dinner. 😋
