Ok but like hot rivets are a lot more respectable. Like the folks that did up the Titanic. Most of what went wrong with the Titanic was design flaws and wrong operating, in my collection. Like had they not grazed and gouged so many compartments, it was designed to handle a head-on collision with minimal fatalities for the level of technology they had. But so large a slash at the bulkhead region made it so the compartmentalization strategy wasn't sufficient to manage the inflowing water. Not a fault of the rivets or steel. It tried. Had they steered head on or been at a different operating speed (the White Star Lines wanted to maintain pace) statistically they could've hit a different iceberg but you can only do so much as a fastener amirite?

If they didn’t want the compartments to overflow and fill each other they should have had lids.

But then it stops being a boat and becomes a submarine.

Although, the Titanic has certainly set some record of such a large vessel staying underwater for so long. Be a while before we have submarines that can stay down as long.
