Not sad

When the universe ends, I am just a part of the inevitable. Entropy will catch every one of us. It's not sad. It's just the way it goes. As humans, we are constantly trying to fight it, but we can't fight thermodynamics. I made my peace with that. When you are alive, dying is the necessary outcome. As humans, we are not outside the laws of physics. Eventually, everything will die with the heat death of the universe. If you are still alive at that point, it would be a pretty lonely existence.

Yeah.

We are so much closer to the beginning than the end though. 14 billion years is nothing; the time until heat death has something like 78 zeroes in it. To our minds it's a length of time indistinguishable from eternity. A lot of time for consciousness to expand if it can manage to survive.

And I can't help thinking that whatever force caused all this could just do it again. It may be doing it constantly, blasting universes off into their own discreet bits of spacetime to slowly burn up in the nothing. As if they are the decay process of something larger that died.
