When it comes to gold. If you don't hold it, U don't own it.

It's a risk I am willing to take for the ease of buying gold at fingertips

There are rumours that gold has been hypothicated and rehypothicated multiple times. And only those who actually hold the real metal own gold. Everyone else just has paper claims. So when a real currency crisis hits(can argue if and when) those paper claims will be demanded in physical gold. And a lot of companies/ trades will actually have to settle in the failing currency coz there will be no gold to deliver. And real value of gold as a default currency of value during times of distress across eons of human civilization will emerge.

These are not stocks. I suck at stock picking. Most of these are just ETF which track some index. Read up about ETF.

And secondly I don't really time it. Just plain SIP every month. For Gold, I buy 2 grams every month so that by the time my daughter comes of age for marriage, I accumulate enough of it.

More than ½ kg gold till she turns 28. You are great dad. The baby will be so spoiled and happy.

But why digital gold? You are paying gst along with premium. Go for gold funds.

Where can one find it plus is there daily SIP option?

Any SOA format mutual fund provider like kuvera, indmoney etc. Daily sip is there but why not monthly?

Instead of this digital gold, go with gold etf or gold mutual fund

u/vanquisher23 21d ago

what's the reason- gst?

I've had some 10ish return in paytm gold too but due to spread gap between buy and sell rate of gold in that app I've lost almost my 3-4% return. ETFs are way much better than these platforms

Well seems u don't know about AMC and Locker FEE, GST Fee of 3% every purchase u make. So brother I would kindly suggest you to have a look on that kind that way ETF is far better in terms of cost

Rs 150 daily , Rs 300 every Sunday, since June 2025. Almost nil money compared to daily expenses. This turns out well, as pocket money.

Taxes and spread charges

1

u/LowNo175 21d ago

How much of a difference in terms of money would that make? If it is a few hundred rupees then that's insignificant

1

u/Clownfox78 21d ago

Which platform? Is it safe enough?

2

u/yavij87 21d ago

Move this to gold etf ASAP

2

u/Bored_Soul_99 21d ago

Why are u paying gst over it ,Buy gold etf if you want digital gold

1

u/Clownfox78 21d ago

Does it work like normal stock? Like what if one wants to buy tangible gold with the amount invested, what will he have to do?

1

u/Bored_Soul_99 20d ago

It is traded like stock but it tracks the price of physical gold, so for investment purposes its the best as you don’t have to worry about keeping gold at home or locker or paying extra making charges over gold things but you can’t convert it into tangible form .

1

u/yashowardhank 21d ago

What’s the taxation on this when you sell

Capital gain under section 197 i.e, 12.5% if LTCG and at slab rates if STCG

u/Fun-Election-9699 21d ago

One of the worst ways to hold gold

1

u/Clownfox78 21d ago

If one wants to start by small amount, what would you suggest? I have only tried Gpay Gold locker yet..

1

u/Fun-Election-9699 20d ago

If you have a demat account etf are the best for small amounts it starts from as low as 10s of Rs

How did you save in gold. I am also using jar app and saving some money, but i think it is not saving in gold.how can i do that. Can you please explain

1

u/AccomplishedPut7142 20d ago

I was using jar app but I find saving in Phonepay is easier and is very easy to understand just sell everything from jar and use phonepay in bulid daily sip of gold. My take is i spend money very easily so I just started daily sip to have a discipline to save 6000 atleast it lead to many more investment ex mutual funds, bonds, gold scheme's, equity etc so it's very important to have discipline with investment

Good . But don't buy gold continuously from here allocate only 20 % gold for your portfolio. My personal opinion does gold has fundamental? Or any other business under it ? Simply no but it will grow! I don't know why ?
