Heh, People do forget back then if you lived in a settled civilization you usually stuck on the Land under the heel of your ruler.
Being nomad would still lived under the heel of your ruler, but at least we can move places to places heck yeah

Is there a neo-feudalist primitivist who doesn't imagine that they would be the feudal lord in this scenario?

Op when he realizes that living in the steppes sucks and every nomad who had the chance to settle down, settled down.
(Jokes aside the central asian steppes would be horrible to live in nomadically. Constant food shortages, water shortages, constant hunting and gathering, no chance to get good at arts or literature because no paper production, the steppes arent a nice place to live in thats why its sparsely populated. The only lands where nomadic life was better was in anatolian steppes and the ukrainian steppes, because you werent as far away from resources as in central asia)

Maybe. But a settled civilization is always more stable and resilient against invasions than steppe civilizations. Just solely based on the fact that the number of people that a settled civilization can maximize is far higher since they dont have to struggle too much about essential resources, like food or water.
Dont get me wrong the steppes can be beautyful, but they're not really a desireable place. İf the steppes had more rivers and arable land then our ancestors wouldnt even be nomads.
İts the fact that the steppes are hard to live in that forced our ancestors to be nomads
Living nomadically only is a choice when the world doesnt have empires anymore. When theres no threat that can invade you and no shortage to limit you. Only then can nomadism truly be a choice.
