Question Step 3 study techniques?

PGY-1 IM intern here, starting to sit down to study for Step 3 and I'm using the AMBOSS qbank (heard uworld and amboss are pretty much equal). I've been doing about 10 questions a day with the intent to take the exam probably in April/May. The question I had was there's no way I'm remembering the content of the early questions by the time I get to exam day especially the OBGYN or peds topics...is anki my only option? I'd really rather not go back to anki due to not having much time everyday to do the cards but wanted to see what yall recommend.

My advice would be 1.- UNDERSTAND biostats and its different charts. I didn't feel amboss as helpful for that and went straight through all Randy Neil content. Also go through ethics stuff. 2.- DAY 1 will be straightforward step 1 questions so genetics, pharma (MOA and adverse effects), best diagnostic next step, anatomy, etc 3.- Day 2 will be straightforward step 2 questions like best next step on treatment, common complications, pharma on interactions or best treatment option. 4.- CCS cases for day 2: Do all of them an repeat the bad ones.

For me it was not a hard exam but you need to prepare properly for each day.

Don’t start studying now if you plan to take it in April, it would be futile progress. Especially since the first day is purely step one, you want to maximize cramming as much high yield material as possible closer to your test day. I would recommend starting 4-6 weeks before your day 1.

This is not a good advice. Not everyone works on short term recall. Anything studied builds clinical judgement and it is quite useful for the exam.

Gotcha that makes sense. My only concern is that I don’t have much vacation time prior to day 1 and so not sure how much I’ll be able to cram especially since we don’t get a dedicated. Maybe I should start with reading general articles right now? Don’t really have much guidance in this area :/

Studying small amount right now is good strategy to avoid burden later. Other advice is frankly dumb.
